Angry Dancers in "Upscale" clubs, do yall notice this?

Okay, so I just got hired at this upscale mens club not too far from my house. I worked morning shift a few times and once I came in to try to work nights...they gave me the , "Sorry, we cant let you work" bullshit. I had everything set, the days I wanted to work and everything! This really upset me a lot, I dont like working morning shift at any club...and I am one of many black girls who work at the club...I know its a money making club, but I know DARN well I look better than 85 percent of those dancers...what gives? Is this an upscale club issue or what?

Nope its a black girl issue they probably already have their quota for black girls at night.

I don't like anyone telling me when I can and can't work. I'd find another club.

Day shift managers don't like to let go of their reliable girls. Try talking to the night shift manager about getting on his shift.

Usually it's harder to find day shift girls than night shift girls, so some clubs are very picky about separating the two. Either that or it could be a racial issue... Unfortunately that's super common too. I'd either make up some reason why you can't work day shift anymore and need to transfer to night shift, or find another club. I've been stuck in that "day shift girl" spot too, and I feel for you.

I don't think it's just "upscale" clubs. I'm white and one of the dives I applied at told me I was required to work at least 2 day shifts. Others have told me I had to start on day shift and eventually move to night. I found another club. If you are paying THEM a house fee to be there you should be able to choose your own hours, simple as that!

    It isn't.
I'm black and I had the very same experience at two dives recently. I thought maybe it could have been a possibility that they had a lot of black girls on nights already. That's always possible too. But it happens at dives also. They try to stick you on days.
Which, I don't mind days all that much, depending on the club. If there are paying customers during the day then fine. But the couple places I went into didn't have even a girl dancing. I need to move, I can't be sitting at the bar my whole shift. What's the point?

Anyway, to the original post, I feel your pain. I prefer clubs where you just have to work a certain amount of time if you show up. Like one place, a dive that I will be trying out soon, it's 5 hours if you show up. If you don't show up, no biggie. You get the day off. I wish all bars were that way.
If we're independent contractors, it really isn't legal to put us on a schedule. If I'm not mistaken?

One if the clubs I work at I can only work between 2:30am and 9pm. So there's a 5 1/2 hour block that I can't work. Are there black girls on that good shift? Yes. What they had to do to get that shift? Idk. But I know it's something because I'm pretty fuckin hot and they won't give me that shift. So something has to be being done lol

I NEVER start a club on day shift. I walk in that bitch at 10pm the earliest. Clubs usually have a shortage of hot girls on day shift so if you get hired on day shift they want to keep you there. Most girls on day shift on my club have something wrong with them, usually fat or old or look strung out or just ugly.
When I first started dancing I worked a noon to 8pm shift and was happy with that for a couple months. When I decided to try nights it was war. My manager didn't want to let me go and made me feel awful about it.
