Default Removing yourself from background check websites

So I'm trying to remove my information from these websites, I contacted one of them and they said if I don't want my name showing up on sites like theirs, I need to go to the public records division of my local courthouse and have my public records removed. Is this true? Has anyone actually done this? Will even trying to remove my public information at the courthouse put me on some list?

    Here's some info on that:

Good luck. I'm doing the same thing, too.

Not wanting to cause any undue concern, but in today's age of facial recognition searches one of the primary 'public records' used for 'professional' background check purposes is driver's license photo databases ... which many states are now 'selling' access to. See

Obviously, having the 'public record' of a driver's license removed has far-reaching consequences.

Just as obviously, if a future prospective employer performing a background check can enter a name, address and SS# from a job application and turn up the matching driver's license photo, the next 'simple' step is to start a facial recognition based internet search. Such a search could turn up not only social media sites with matching pics, but potentially strip club sites with dancer sample pics, webcam host site promo pages, 'stealth' pics / videos posted to tube sites / upload sites without the girl's knowledge, online pages of local news media, etc.

My implied point, of course, is that while going through the exercise of requesting the removal of 'some' public records ... and subsequently removing 'some' consumer oriented background check website information, can't hurt ... for a fact the 'professional' background check services used by prospective 'high profile' employers won't actually be affected much.
