Default Going to Vegas for my Bday with a big group...hotel questions.

My bday is in a few months, and a group of anywhere from 8 to 14 will be going. I know from other metropolitan cities that if you are a guest in a hotel you get perks such as easy entry and sometimes VIP seating in clubs/bars and other little perks like this. If this is the case in Vegas I def want to take advantage of any hotspots. We def want to be in the thick of things, and we are willing to spend decent money but not break the bank. My sis has never been and seems to wants to have a view of the Bellagio fountain, although this is not a must. I don't see myself spending tons of time in the casino, but having a top club/bar in our hotel would be nice so we can just stumble upstairs. Also, we are all in our 30s/40s so maybe that makes a difference on what we will like the best.

    Any thoughts are appreciated!

Are you a mixed gender group or all ladies? You'll get much more for free/cheap if there aren't any/many dudes in your group.

Every Vegas hotel I've stayed in has let me into their nightclub without a cover charge. You just have to mention that you're a guest of the hotel and show your room key. You can usually get in faster, too. The Cosmopolitan was one exception, where I paid a $10 cover (reduced from $40). The hotel pool is free to get into as well, just show your room key. I'm not aware of any drink specials, ticket discounts, or VIP seating based on being a guest of the hotel. Those things are for people who've earned a certain status with the casino's rewards club by gambling.

Yes mixed....kinda. I know my gay best friend is going but think 1 or 2 friends may be bringing hubbies, but that may not be the case.

Don't bring guys and you can get in everywhere for free and not buy any drinks. Vegas is the best place on the planet for girls.

Thanks lestat. Good to know. Yeah, I kinda just wanted more of a free/reduced cover as I will probably be there most nights. Haven't been clubbing in forever and am gonna soak it up while I can.

Ha! Excellent Chloe. They will have to fend for themselves then.

And luckily Oldster, I am being treated for my bday as far as room costs go, so just have to get myself there.

^ I forgot that if you're staying at MGM, since Hakkasan is the "hot/in" club right now, that one might be like Marquee at Cosmo and only give you a discount.

Will the MGM have a view of the fountain at Bellagio? If so that might be the spot for us then.

    EDIT: Nevermind, looked it up.

If you're looking to have the whole Vegas "experience", any of the big hotel/casino's will fit your bill. Really it just comes down to what you want to spend. A good one if you want to spend a little less is the Rio, with the Ghostbar and club upstairs but not as expensive as some of the big ones on the strip (unless you're coming in November during the WSOP, which is hosted at the Rio).

The big spots right now will be Cosmopolitan, MGM, Bellagio, and the Wynn/Encore. Cost will be higher accordingly.

Thanks half empty. We were leaning towards MGM or Bellagio, but may look into Cosmo as well.

One advantage of staying in a Lakeview room at the Bellagio is a television channel that plays the fountain song as you watch. Bally's, Paris, Planet Hollywood all have some rooms from which youncan see the fountains. I've sayed in every room type at the Cosmo and the balconies are really nice. Avoid City Rooms as they are basic hotel rooms and do not have balconies. I have had fountain view rooms at Cosmo and have never had one where I could hear the song being played. I prefer the restaurant collection at Cosmo, but Bellagio has excellent choices also. I don't nightclub so I'm no real help there, other than walking past the throngs of people waiting to get in. There is a lot of good club info at jackcolton.com.

As for bars, it's hard to beat the Chandelier Bar at Cosmo. Actually all the bars at Cosmo have a slightly different drink menu and are staffed by excellent bartenders. My fiancee and I have stayed at the Cosmo and not left the property.
