    Default hormone balancing with herbs

do any of you balance your hormones with maca root, calendula or any other kind of herb? or do you think you should see a doctor first? does it work? i also heard maca helps redistribute weight, is that true? i realize there's already a thread on this but its old and i don't want to bump it and break the rules

if you cant sleep from maca, see a amount you take everyday. maybe you take too much. But even Incans did not took it raw. Do a simple test. measure your pulse and after take a maca and measure again, If your heart beat increase you may not tolerate it well.
Lets say goji berries, cacao, acai, maca, coffee, if after taking it you feel "strange", cant sleep, faster heart beat, hot flashes. even after taking something enegrzing you must be able go to sleep easily. I take a little bit of maca, half of a tea spoon, i want to adapt my body and not to overwhelm my adrenal glands or immune system.
Lets say if i drink very weak coffee, I'm getting very hyperactive , my hands are shaking, i feel nervous, and this is just from a half cup of coffee with milk.

I took an herbal thing called Oona, a blend of vitex and black cohosh, for a lot of different PMS symptoms. After three months I really did notice my mood swings and cramping pain were reduced, and my previously irregular cycle was a steady 30 days. My gyn recommended it.

i'm REALLY sensitive to stimulants..just drinking green tea with caffeine will have me up all night unless i take a sleep med, so maybe i should not do the maca..

You can balance hormones naturally, but balancing hormones with herbs but not changing a life style does not help. You have to sleep alot, eat healthy food, less processed food, going outside, exersise.
You have to know what hormones to balance.
maybe you have thyroid problems or adrenal fatigue, or something else.
I drink a raspberry leaf everyday, for me working like a charm. flashing off some hormones and i feel less moody before period, and no pain. I would say, try something like that first, but do not start with a maca. For balancing hormones nettle, raspberry tea and etc.
Milk Thistle: Liver detoxification is at the top of the list when it comes to hormonal balance. Just one of the many roles of your liver is to remove excess hormones from your system. If your liver is overloaded or congested, dealing with other toxins from food, water and environment, this function may slow down and you can wind up with hormonal problems like excess estrogen.
we all are different if someone works may not work for you.

I have taken in the past, (just got more) Dong Quai, a Chinese herb, which's female ginseng. I originally took it in capsule form, recently I got the liquid concentrate/dropper which I haven't opened yet.
It really helped w/period/pms symptons. I first got it when I bought the 'breast growth' pills, read the ingredient list, it was mostly DQ. It made my boobs maybe 1/2 cup size larger, but it really helped w/the symptoms. Also, it made me horny.

If you not feel yourself over stimulated, thats should be fine. And do you take 2 spoons since the beginning and how long do you take it?
To everyone who want to try maca powder, better start with a smallest dosage as possible, quarter of a tea spoon for first 3 months, let your body adapt itself. And as i said before and even in chinese medicine they do not consume herbs in their raw stage, chinese do boil herbs for over 20 mins for example turmeric after 20 mins of boiling its become ready with a max of curcumin amount.

Which maca do you take? I take yellow one, i want to try red, maybe they are different.
You can even do a maca face mask, or maca flavored cookies.

i heard that about coconut oil, which is why i try and take 3 tablespoons a night..also eating good fats like avocado, nuts, fish, etc. i eat a leafy green salad ( or two) every day, no sodas or processed sugars, no GMOs, and i try not to handle receipts ( they have BPA which really fucks with your hormones). i get lots of sleep like 9 hours a night.
the symptoms i'm concerned about is breakouts every once in awhile along the jawline and chin ( right side in particular), coupled with recent low sex drive. i know i should go to the doctor and get a blood panel and check out my liver ( i seriously fucked my liver up when i was 18, nearly died. they say its regenerated but idk)

^ saaaame, any kind of dairy does it to me, even milk chocolate

also simone are u having other symptoms that make u think its hormone imbalance or just the jaw breakout?

i wanted to mention since you mentioned nuts in your diet that both cashews and pistachios DEFINITELY give me horrible jawline pimples. almonds and brazil nuts are totally fine for me tho. most people say nuts are super healthy for you/your skin, but i have had supppperrr clean eating phases and the nuts were the only thing i changed.

i eat almonds, sunflower seeds, walnuts, hemp seeds, and occasionally pistachios.
i think it might be time to give up my beloved Ecigarette..maybe the propoleyne glycol is doing a number on me..its a good food grade but still. or maybe its stress, i've been working 7 days in a row now between the club and my vanilla job.
the other reasons i think it might be a hormonal imbalance is that ( this is so embarrassing and gross) i have this one hair on my chin that keeps growing back, its sooo weird. and i'm gaining weight on my lower stomach, that's never happened before, i've only ever gained on my butt and thighs. but its mostly just my skin that i'm really upset with.

Weird I get the occasional "chin hair" as well! I had extremely irregular periods for years after BC then I found out I was very anemic hence the lack of periods. Finally got that under control and have been taking Red Rasp leaf tea, maca, royal jelly/bee propolis/raw honey/ginseng blend, maca (about 2 tsp a day now) and Vitex. All in all my periods are much more predictable and the fact that I'm getting a regular period and I think even Oing is fantastic although I still get pretty killer PMS. Raging, emotional mess, sore boobs for a full week or longer before period and I usually have a good day or two of terrible cramps. I want to say this is just my body getting back into a rhythm.
Taking the maca has increased my libido like CRAZY. My sex drive is seriously through the roof. My CM has also seriously increased.
    A lot.
I put my maca in my bullet proof coffee (actually herbal coffee with a little regular coffee) with coconut oil and ghee and that minimizes any "wired" effects.

Research and only introduce one new herb at a time so you know if you have a bad reaction to something.

Oh, before period i ALWAYS have zits, i think if before period i eat almonds, it cause really bad zits. Low sex drive, i hear you brother! Even maca does not help with that, alcohol does help hahahah.
for liver the best a milk thistle, seriously! I have a friend whos kid has a leukemia, so he already had a liver problem. but chimo even more distroing. Liver, but he take it religiously and his liver become better!
