Ok , so I can't handle my current club anymore. It is just not consistent enough anymore (or at least it hasn't been in the last 2 weeks). These horrific nights are sending me into a deep depression. Here's my question for you guys: Would you -

    A) Go try the nearby dive bar that has stricter scheduling but has great reviews from other dancers regarding earning potential

    OR

    B) Travel 10 hrs away to a bigger city & just try many different clubs up there.

    C) Just stick it out & be miserable

Try the nearby dive, see if you like it and if you don't try B.

The thing with B is that I don't want to possibly burn a bridge with them if I end up wanting to just travel anyways for a week or more. A few other dancers at my current club have all told me stories of petty jerks they are with their scheduling & if you so much as call out or what not , they'll take you off the schedule for a week :/ Ugh too much stress for me right now. It is still a possibility though.

I think it's bad everywhere right now... maybe I'm talking out of my ass since I'm not dancing, but from everything I read on here, and what I've heard from my friends, it doesn't seem like summer has really ended. If you don't want to make a transition right now I would wait a few more weeks, see if things pick up in the fall season.

As far as dancing ten hours away... are you thinking of moving or just traveling ten hours to dance? Cause that to me doesn't sound manageable, you would be exhausted from those long drives, the earnings would have to be HIGH to make up for it... only you know if you really want to move. Do you like where to you live? Have boyfriend/family/friends to leave behind or can you just pick up and go?

The last 2 weeks have been crappy for a lot of people. It's been a little slow at my club too.. It might be like that everywhere. If you just really don't like your club then I would try the dive first, or maybe work both part time if you can. When I'm having a hard time I just work more hours, like a full 40 hour week if needed to make up for lost $$. A lot of clubs give free house for your fourth or fifth shift and so on. You don't want to sink $$ into a 10 hour commute or move, just to find out that it's a slow season there too.

    Try the dive bar!

Or... try another club that isn't 10 hours away....
You mentioned staying put, going nearby, or traveling 10 hours away(!!!!)... there has to be something closer than that. Right?

Also I prob wouldn't be able to go to the dive place until monday bc that's when I've heard that they hire bc they don't have many girls those nights.. I already promised my mngr at my current club that i'd finish this week out since i really don't want to burn any bridges right now. As far as driving 10 hrs away, there are several other clubs I've researched on here that are a couple of hrs closer but I've been wanting a change of scenery for awhile now. My bf can help with the traveling expenses such as hotel & what have you.

ya I have an awesome place I've been renting now since I got here a few months ago & I do have a bf & a few friends out here that I'm not ready to leave behind just yet. I miss traveling & working honestly. I get mentally burnt out easily from places & most places I've tried around here all say they're full with girls & aren't hiring at the moment. Yes I go to auditions looking my best for the record

Hell it's been slow enough that if you have the resources/fall back buddies or the bf, I'd say why not travel! I also think burnout is way less of a problem if you are traveling, but on the other hand, money management may be more difficult due to the fast lifestyle.

I've been splitting my week up between body rubs, escorting and dancing at 2 different clubs and I can honestly say that ALL the places have been ungodly slow for September. Liiiike I'm making avg civilian money..:-/

My latest $ saving idea is just to get into a quick sublet or roomie situation in a central area of the city and then have WAY more $ and freedom to commute to some places to dance or take short travel trips to dance. Also if I just want to pursue indie work, then all the cash I was spending on my apt can be put towards hotels, advertising, etc.

Good luck and get that $$!

yea I've just decided to hop in my car & drive 10 hrs to another state & try my luck there. I had an amazing night on wed but it's just not consistent enough. Not to mention the club just got their pasties permit, but only onstage behind a line. What good is that for buisiness, esp since you can't take anything off in the vip rooms
