    Default Graveyard Shift. weight gain

    So I work 12 hour graveyard shifts. By the time I get home shower take the dog out ect it's time for bed.
    When I wake up I can't eat breakfast I have never been one who can eat when I wake up.
    Then I go to work and I have no refrigerator or microwave ect. So I can't bring lunch.
    Then when I get home I'm starving and I try not to eat before bed but I feel like it's the only time I can.
    If I don't I find myself not eating for days.

    Does anyone have this problem ?
    I believe it's the cause of my weight gain added to the stress. ?

    I also can't seem to find time to work out ? Any ideas or tips ?

    Meal replacement bars. I love them. Take 15 minutes to have food calmly.

    You could do that super intensity exercises called hiit. Only need to do 5 mins.

    Walk places, increase your incidental movement.

    drink a yogurt, or eat a banana or egg first thing in the morning..i know how it feels to have no appetite when you wake up, but just do it..start with something light. bring a lunch box and put some of those ice packs in it, put the cold stuff together. that should keep it cool til you eat it.

    Where do I get meal replacement bars ?

    I hate yogurt but I'm are I could get down some fruit or something. I need to try at least.

    Where do I find the HI IT workouts ?

    I would try a vitamin shop to find one you like & then buy them online in bulk cheaper. I tend to go right for coffee when I wake up & I have force a protein shake down.

    While eating right before bed is not great, it is not the end of the world. Lack of activity due to the weird schedule is more to blame. Try to keep you schedule similar on days you do not work, as in stay up pretty late and sleep late so your body stays in synch. You do need to eat at regular intervals, so find one of those insulated bag things and blue ice pack for you work meal

    Consider setting your alarm so you get up and do not over sleep. One of the bad things of 2nd and 3rd shift work is that you do not need to get up and go to work in the morning, so you tend not to and get nothing done. It is really about time management as much as anything. When I used to work 2nd shift[no where near as disruptive as 3rd] if I was in bed by 2 and up by 9 I could cook a big breakfast[I love breakfast] wander around do some errands fix the car, whatever. If I slept till 11, by the time I finished the dishes from eating, it was after 1pm, and I have no time to get anything done before leaving for work and suddenly it is work sleep work sleep.......12 hour shifts must be much worse.......
