What vitamins do you girls take daily ?
What do you recommend ?
I was starting to take vitamins but something was making me horribly sick and I couldn't figure out what it was and then stopped.

I think maybe you should see a nutritional specialist. We wouldn't be able to figure out your needs based on an internet post, not to mention the fact you seem to have a few allergies/things you want to avoid.

I thought this article was very interesting: http://www.theatlantic.com/health/ar...ements/277947/ The gist of it is that the man who popularized vitamin supplements--vitamin c supplements in particular--didn't actually have the science to back up his claims, and many studies since have suggested that vitamin supplements are actually strongly linked with a higher mortality rate. I'm not a doctor, but I believe that if you are interested in getting your vitamins in, you should focus on a more varied diet. Also, vitamin supplements often do cause stomach issues, so in your case, I would definitely not bother with them.

the only ones i take faithfully are D3 ( because i'm a vampire, never go out in the sun without buckets of sunscreen and a hat, and most americans are extremely deficient in D3), and biotin for hair and nails. the rest i get from real food..hemp oil/seeds, leafy green salads, sardines in extra virgin olive oil, nuts, quinoa, oatmeal, berries, cantaloupe, turnip..you get the gist.
was it zinc or iron? those are notorious for giving people tummy aches and nausea.

Brace yourself for this... I am a 23 year old "adult" and I cannot swallow pills... so I totally do the Flintstones chews.
I eat like garbage most of the time, so I figured I should take SOMETHING, and those are much less ordeal than trying to take a pill.
Agreed that iron will make a lot of people sick, it makes me nauseous. Check for that. Taking vitamin pills on an empty stomach can make you sick as well.

There's also powdered flavored vitamins..

You have to eat a large amount of food when you take a vitamin. Once i ate a yogurt and after took a vitamin i puked after, i read instraction on the box from vit, and i understood why it happened.
i let a food to be my vitamin and doctor:-D
But i take a cod liver oil, spirulina, coconut oil, and more.

I use to take multivites and to be honest, I don't see a difference. It's usually better to eat wholesome meals than spend on vitamins, but when it comes to things like antioxidants, it may be worthwhile to look into those.
Get a nutritional specialist to see what you're lacking.

What rosemead said ^.^
I took vitamin c, b, d, but I don't feel like they did as much good for me as a detox did. I still take magnesium and melatonin. I'd recommend experimenting with your diet. Vitamins are expensive and there is no solid proof that they work long term

I get hormonal breakouts so I started taking a pill that has flax, fish, and borage oil, plus another biotin, vitamin A, and Zinc (total of 4 pills)
I've only started about a week ago so not sure if anything has happened yet, but I've read a lot on those vitamins and how they're supposedly beneficial
Plus I don't eat very healthy so I think I need some vitamins (and I have REALLY dry skin and hair). The pill with the oils says it's good for heart health, and I know zinc is good for your immune system and biotin is just a good beauty supplement.
But if something is making you sick you should definitely see a doctor or whatever specialist because that sounds somewhat serious (unless you're just taking them on an empty stomach and that could make you sick also)

If it regards a health concern the best thing to do is get some blood work done to see if there's anything missing. Otherwise the best way to get vitamins is from food, but I understand things get missed from having a dancer lifestyle.
I work with a population that has limited exposure to natural sunlight and are often indoors (like us, and fall is coming and the sun is setting earlier). These guys often take the same supplements and if I were to have a regular dancer lifestyle again, some supplements I would keep in mind for myself are:
-Vitamin D3. You can get it from some foods, but most of it comes from natural sunlight.
-Iron. It's generally good for women to take an iron supplement during that time of the month, or if you have an issue with bruising. But like someone mentioned if you take iron on an empty stomach it can make you feel sick, especially if you're not used to it. It also darkens your poop. You could take it with some food, but having food in your stomach decreases the amount absorbed. It's best taken with orange juice or anything with vitamin C. Don't take it with dairy because dairy really limits how much of it your body absorbs. Foods that have a high content are organ meats like liver, kidneys (kind of gross) and dark leafy greens.
-Vitamin C if you have skin issues like getting scrapes, cuts, etc.
-Glucosamine and chondroitin. A common supplement a lot of people take for arthritis or joint pain. Mostly people who have osteoarthritis take this, but some say it helps prevent joint disease in athletes. I tend to get knee pain especially whenever I go back to the club and dance for a day or two and I'll probably talk to a doc to see what their thoughts are.
-MSM (methylsulfonylmethane). Another joint supplement, seems somewhat well known.
-Fish oil. I used to get dry eyes from my eyeliner and taking fish oil and hot compresses over my eyes helped.
Iron can make you feel sick. Supplements can make you feel sick if you've got other issues going on, like if you take insulin then whatever supplements you're taking could interfere and make you feel that way. That I wouldn't know about and you'd have to talk to a doc.
Thanks everyone![]()

I cant take multi-vitamins - they make me puke

It could be an allergic reaction from the actual ingredients in the pill, like if you're allergic to shellfish which is found in a lot of calcium vits.
