X-pole is best but I've heard good things about the Lil Mynx brand as well

Xpole, or msg Djoser for tips on rigging one up w/ supplies from Home Depot!

I have played on his a couple times -- my only bitch is that since he can't put any kind of bolts into his floor or ceiling, it isn't completely 'squared' & shifts a bit, so spins are not necessarily a good idea. But I can do shoulder mount flips on it, & he pops out candlesticks like nothing & it doesn't go anywhere. It is also a galvanized finish, so grip isn't a problem even w/o chalk.

Definitely get an xpole. They switch back and forth between spinning and static, so if you're lucky enough to work at a club with a spinning pole you'll be able to practice that one too.

50mm is the size most clubs seem to use- also if you can do a move on a 50, you'll be able to do it on skinnier poles. It's trickier the other direction.

They do have a "break in" time after they get shipped- they'll be fairly slippery for the first bit. Whatever they get coated with before they ship them isn't as grippy as the pole itself.

How easy are these to take down? I don't really want it up in my apartment all the time especially when I have people over...

Xpole has a pressure-mounted model that's pretty easy to remove. If you look at DirdyBirdy's videos on Utube she has the pressure-mounted kind rather than the bolted-in-place. There is also a video where she had a photographer over to her place for a shoot, & in that one you can see them take down one of the poles to remove it from the space where they are working.

Xpole, Platinum Stages and lil Mynx are the better pole brands.
I have a pressure mounted X and PS and both are good. I like my PS a little better just because the transition from spin to static is faster all you have to do is take out a pin at the base and stick it back in for static. I don't have a lil mynx but it looks like the easiest to put up and take down in a hurry.
