    Default Removing torrents?

So...does anyone know if there's a way to remove your stolen content from torrent sites?

I was looking up how to remove my videos from a popular torrent site, and the site says that 0 torrents have ever been removed or will ever be removed.

It doesn't make sense to me...what's stopping these guys from just like, torrenting all of our videos? Not that I want to give them any ideas. But seriously.

So if you produce content you're at the mercy of the torrenters and there's nothing you can do? I haven't been able to find anything about resolving it. Searched here, and nothing else I found online looked promising.

^^^ technically speaking, you can attempt to sue the host for copyright infringement. However, this also requires that the copyright actually be 'owned' by the suing party ... something which is often not the case these days. This can also get complicated and expensive if the host is 'officially' located in another country.

The 'real world' difficulties in regard to detecting and removing 'pirated' content was one of the main reasons that I shut down my own indy website.

Ugh, that sucks. I'm used to being able to send out DMCA notices, so this is really annoying.

Yeah, if the torrent site offers comments, comment you site links and contact links on it. See if you can drive some traffic that could potentially become paying traffic!

That's a good idea. I actually had a nice paying client once, an older professional guy who found one of my videos that someone had uploaded on Motherless. He contacted me within a few days of it being uploaded. Still had it removed, it was a pleasant surprise though because that's the last place I would ever think to advertise myself, lol.
