Is it possible to get a good, powerful laptop for around $500-$600? My guess is no, but it is all I can afford at the moment while I am in the process of moving. Do you have any recommendations? Thanks!

*Check Amazon (I'd go for a laptop with an i7 processor, if I were you). I even did a search for you and got these results. And, of course, you don't have to go by the search criteria I put in, if you don't want to.

*Check eBay:

*Check your local Rent-A-Center to rent a laptop. A couple years ago I rented a brand new Toshiba laptop for 2 weeks, and the cost was only $65. And since I don't drive, they even had someone drop off the laptop to me, and then on its due date they came back to pick it up.
*I don't know where you live, but check Craigslist (your local section of CL, so whatever city is closest to you) in the 'For Sale'/'Computers' section. There may be people selling a laptop for that price. Just make sure it's a WORKING laptop. There are also people on CL who sell/buy broken laptops (a guy on CL recently bought my old pink Sony Vaio that's just been taking up space).
*I don't know if you got one of those Mom Swap Facebook groups for your particular area (it might not even be called Mom Swap where you are...might be calling something else), but if so, join one or more of those groups and post an ad (as well as type 'laptop' or 'computer' in the search box, to search for related ads).

If you catch the right sales, yes. I got my Samsung i7 a year ago at Best Buy for a little over $700. You just have to find a good deal, like with anything you purchase.
Payment plans are awesome and you can write the payments off as a business expense, and you can get any computer you want!

Before I buy a laptop I always go here http://www.dealsofamerica.com/laptop-deals.php they have tons of deals from sites. I got a brand new i7 a couple months back for 700 on amazon and got it in 2 days because of my amazon prime.

Remember guys, Black Friday is all most here. This is when I buy majority of my electronics. http://slickdeals.net/
