Default Questions about Australia not related to adult industry

I would like to travel to Australia because I think it's a beautiful country and because of its unique fauna (especially the fauna): I'm not too concerned about visiting the bigger cities (like Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, etc.), however. I have a few questions that google couldn't answer me and I felt that those SWers from Australia could answer me better.

-Any weird and/or crazy laws? I imagine each state and/or territory has their own set of crazy and/or weird laws.

-How cold does it get in the southern states?

-How warm does it get in the northern states?

    -Any places I should avoid?

-Is worth visiting the Ayes Rock?

    -How about the coral reefs?

I'll probably come up with even more questions.

A bit offtopic: I don't have a very high opinion on the new PM. He reminds me of a Texan politician (with the same last name) that is running for governor.

If you go, here's a few things you should watch out for:

    sharks

    salt water crocodiles

Funnel web spider, which besides having a deadly venom, has fangs strong enough to pierce leather boots. (warning: link goes to photo of a funnel web spider)

Blue ringed octopus, which is only a few inches long, but has enough venom to kill 26 humans.

box jellyfish, the most poisonous marine animal known to man

    venomous snakes

The (male) duck billed platypus, one of the few venomous mammals

    There are even deadly "rocks".

As much as I'd love to see a platypus (one of the few egg laying mammals), I'd better watch for them!

I don't think I'd spend too much time around the big reefs. :/

I once got bitten by a very small shark, though.
