Unprofessional behavior in both the porn and the stripping business--from both males and females--has undeniably been a problem as long as both industries have been in existence. For every porn producer mistreating his female talent, there is a stripclub owner doing the same. But men certainly hold no monopoly on a lack of professionalism. I've seen incredibly unprofessional behavior from the same ratio of women as men in both industries. Denying this is to give in to delusional thinking on a massive scale.
I heard Kristina Rose now loathes the male talent in the industry. And from what I've seen of some of those guys, I don't blame her. But there are innumerable horror stories about equally bad female stars.
Blaming ALL of the men who put up the money to start the businesses, just because some of them were dicks trying to get laid, is not the answer--any more than blaming the myriad unprofessional women who made it so easy for some of these scumbags to lump them all into the same nasty box. And the idea that this is the main cause of the current upheaval in the industry is a joke.
I do think it's fantastic to see a lot more of the female talent starting their own ventures. And certainly the niche performers will do better this way. Put up your own money, and collect your own profits. Much better than blaming all the guys who put up all that money to start all porn companies and stripclubs in the last 30 years.
But the vast majority of porn consumers are not going to go for niche stuff. They want more stuff like the kind of thing the major and better medium sized producers have been putting out for the last 20 years. And now they can get it for free. Even the webcam stuff can be gotten entirely free. And the biggest webcam companies are owned by men as well. Maybe we will see more women getting into ownership in future. I think that will be a very good thing.
It's going to be very interesting to see where the industry goes in the next 20 years.
