Thumbs down WINDOWS 8.1 and LOGITECH= DON'T MIX!

WARNING: Beware of the free windows 8.1 upgrade! Logitech webcam software is NOT compatible with windows 8.1 (according to Logitech support) and there are MAJOR problems. I called logitech and emailed them too. If you already have 8.1, there is an APP for logitech you can download. Updating drivers might help too. Don't even THINK about getting the c930 to cooperate with 8.1- it's a disaster. The auto-focus is OUT OF CONTROL and the controls ARE NOT FUNCTIONAL.
Just wanted to warn you all about the free upgrade. It will cost you time and money. My computer came with it, so I have to deal with it. But I would wait to upgrade (especially if you are using the logitech 930) until logitech gets their software fixed!

    UPDATE:

I have 525, 920 and 930. The 525 and 920 software are now working but only after I did some computer nerd magic. The 930 is a TOTAL disaster and it seems the more I try to troubleshoot the worse it gets. I didn't think it was going to take up so many days to upgrade a freaking webcam but that's what happened to me. I think it's because I got the 930 first (the one that's least compatible) then put that software in, then I got the 920 because the 930 was a nightmare. When I installed the 930 software, I think it made the LWS software have issues. I'm not sure where the issues come from. Just want to give you a head's up because I was not expecting SO much of my time to get sucked up with these issues.

Sorry but I've upgraded my 8.1 and use both my c920s just fine. Sorry you're having issues. Also, my new laptop came with 8.1 and my logitechs work fine.

8 seems to be a beast for some things - I had an issue yesterday with privateinternetaccess - it doesnt appear that the problems are across the board but hit and miss -

I got the 920 working but not the 930. I hear that some people's work fine right away and others have issues. Just thought I'd warn people. It was frustrating as hell for me to deal with this all week. Just sayin... You know the saying, "Anything that affects a camgirls mood, affects her money." Well, I'm not sure if they say it, but I just did... YKWIM, bbs!

Well that's just simply not true. I'm sorry you're having problems, but telling other girls not to upgrade their computer is just a bad idea. Updates are there for a reason and you should always update your computer when there are new ones released. I've owned 3 different Logitech cameras (a c525 and 2 c920's) and haven't had any issues with them at all on Windows 8.1. And I updated my laptop as soon as the update came out about a year ago. I'm guessing the conflict is somewhere else since it's obviously working fine for plenty of girls with Windows 8.1.

I'm not sure, but logitech also told me there are compatibility issues. I'm just giving people the heads up that something might happen. The 525 and 920 are both working for me now, but the 930 is having major issues that I have not been able to resolve. It would not be a great time for someone with windows 8.1 to pick up that cam. Trust me on that one! The other cams are working now. But I was not expecting the change to cause me so many issues (and HOURS of time lost) and it has. I don't see anything wrong with warning others. I'm pretty good with computers and tech stuff so if I had problems, its fair to say that other girls might. I appreciate the heads up on things, I might have been somewhat dramatic in my OP but I blame sleep deprivation and frustration.

    Happy camming to all!

I'm using a brand new computer that came with Windows 8.1. The main issue is with the c930- which you don't have. I got the 920 working...

My IT friend has a pretty big business here in my city said to stay away from 8.1 - there are issues with it - people need to know if others are having a problem so they can make a somewhat informed decision

I keep hearing this! Hopefully logitech puts out an update. I think Genoveve just went through this too, so maybe she will post a tutorial for how she fixed it.
