Default Things that happen when you stop dancing

    * I'm not always covered in bruises ( I think this has a lot to do with drinking so much)
    * I still need a drink before bed every night but not to drink till I pass out
    * I just realized nobody really cares that much what I look like ( Just got a really bad haircut & gained 5 lbs and no one noticed?)
    * My knees aren't always popping ( they still hurt sometimes tho)
    * I not so suspicious of everyone's motives
    * I did make some really amazing friends ( and shitty ones) while I was dancing ( The real world is like this too but Civilians don't seem to have their characters tested as much)

    Feel free to add

its been a year for me ..,,,but the first few months were really tough ( and I teach elementary school, talk about a G rated lifestyle )

I am a lot hairier now.

I realize how much the real world sucks.

I still am having serious withdrawls from cash. I am finding the process of having to go to an atm or the store to withdraw cash SO inconvenient. Going to the Amish market? Better stop by the ATM and withdraw some cash first. Want to impulsively buy a hotdog at the food truck? Too bad so sad, he's cash only. Ugh! I hate it.

Dancing full time was fun and I miss the money a lot. I still dance once to twice a week. But since getting a day job some improvements have been:

-Feeling less angry. Around the time before I stopped full time dancing I definitely had issues with anger. Being surrounded by lunatic dancers, management, and customers. It was making me crazy too.

-Having supportive coworkers is nice. Like at work one of the staff will alert me if there is a known dirty pervert nearby and to watch myself when I am around that person. Usually at the club if a dirty pervert regular comes in who all the girls know about and not to approach, no one will say anything if a newer girl approaches the guy.

-Renting is easier with paystubs and I was able to remove myself from a toxic environment this way.

-I am happy that my income is no longer tied to my weight. Dancing has made me insecure about my weight. Not planning on letting myself go, but it wouldn't kill me if I gained a few pounds.

-I make less right now, but somehow I am able to save more? And even though I make less right now, but I'll eventually start earning more and with the right job they may pay for my tuition to continue my education.

-Less anxious. I know I have a steady paycheck coming and my earnings won't fluctuate. Now when I do go to the club I am less stressed out about money and am actually making more in one or two days than I did the same days and dancing full time.

-My sex drive is normal now. It took a nose dive when I started to dance and now it's back to normal.

I didn't really fit in anywhere socially after I quit dancing. I felt like I had to keep up the "act" of being a vanilla female. I learned I couldn't sit at a desk for 50+ hours a week. "Real jobs" pay poverty wages. I constantly worried about paying bills.

I'm so happy I came back to dancing after a 6 year break. It's like riding a bike. Nothing much has changed over the years.

^I can imagine, especially if you're not naturally a night person and work in clubs that allow indoor smoking! OH yeah, my hair stopped reeking of smoke and dirt when I stopped regularly dancing.

That's a good one! I got so used to all the bawdy talk at work that it actually takes effort not to go hard in conversations with normal people. No more talking so loud! No more big gestures so they can make out what I'm saying over the music! Yeah for downtime!

Isn't it ironic? People characterize us as being exploited, while working for insulting, exploitative wages.

When I take non-dancing jobs, I usually get hired because my boss wants to do me, and that can be a major pain to navigate. When I work as a dancer, I'm actually hired because of my skills. So, oddly enough, whenever I quit dancing I hate men more.

-I still maintain my workout routine but I'm not active at my job so my stomach doesn't look as flat as it was when I was dancing.

-I stopped drinking heavily. I'm pretty sure I developed a mild problem with alcohol when I use to work a the club but now I'm perfectly content with stopping at one or two drinks. I think this is one of the most positive things that came out of quitting.

-My social life is non-existent now that I don't dance. Most of my friends were in that industry so I no longer socialize with them much or have the opportunity to meet new people. My job now is very solitary so I don't get a lot of people interaction.

-I don't wear much makeup beyond mascara and I no longer get extensions put in my hair. I still have platinum blonde hair but it's way less sexy than it was when I was a dancer. It's silly but when I look in the mirror all I see is a plain woman. At times I miss getting all dressed up and feeling awesome about myself.

-Dancing is more stable than my job now. Sometimes I don't get paid for two months and there is literally no expected amount that I can make. I miss being able to make money immediately for the effort that I put in which made me work a lot harder than most. I work significantly less now because I can actually lose money at my job and not see a payday for weeks. It really crushes my motivation to do much. I was smart enough to save most of the money I made dancing and have a lot to show for it so the lack of pay doesn't effect my life adversely but it makes me angry because I imagine the amount of savings I'd have if I wouldn't have quit.

I've been using my stilettos for leg curls since they're not too heavy. One shoe off and foot flat on floor, the other as a lightweight foot weight.

    I stopped in 2010 for a while...

    - grew body hair (the whole nine - legs, coochie, even pits)
    - gained weight
    - got depressed
    - had to go on food stamps
    - lost my car (couldn't afford to fix it)
    - quit wearing makeup
    - quit drinking
    - quit smoking

Having a job with health insurance and a stable income is really nice. However, I really miss the freedom of working for myself and setting my own schedule. Sometimes I think the perfect mix would be working part-time as a dancer and part time in a day job, but that sounds pretty exhausting...

OMG this ^ ugh I took a year off from dancing & put on like 45 lbs :/ I've lost most of it since going back but still... bleh! I feel so happy once I get myself back into the groove again. I hate that lethargic feel I get when I fuck off sometimes a month at a time from work. Then I start to scramble when rent is due haha I'm not taking no more time off. I told myself that starting this month I was gonna work my ass off. However though, when the club I'm working at is super slow it resets me to go back to the laziness to avoid the boredom.

    I've taken long breaks before.

Usually the only thing that really changes is the fact that people actually enjoy talking to me. Because I don't spew a 2 hour run-on sentence about my night last night and how CrAzY iT wAZzZzZzZz!

Lol everyone's so sick of my stories and I'm like.. But you're so simple... How are you not interested in this

Its been a full year since I stopped dancing . I work 40 hours a week at a desk and I'm always snacking . my ass and thighs have gotten thicker so I'd be perfect for a urban booty club return. LMAO as long as I keep my waist small and my stomach flat I won't have a complete meltdown.

Office egos .I don't have time for and it petty compared to the strip world. I hustle to get things done and don't mind late hours . getting home before midnight is a blessing .

I haven't worn heels in forever

Where are all those false lashes I had ?

What do mean I can't wear 26 in Brazilian straight weave ? Ugh

And my social life sucks . all my girlfriends were dancers once you leave your just not as close anymore
