    Angry I feel likemyprivacywas violated.

Is itok for managers to go through your stuff in the locker or at all even when they suspect your bringing in something while your on stage? I usually lock it up but I was rushed on stage and when I came back in my "water bottle" (liq) was missing and I foundout itwas my manager who went through my frkn bag!! this is violation of privacy isn't it?

I think it is violating privacy and I don't completely think it is right, but they probably had suspected you of bringing in liquor to the club and found your "water bottle". If the club was raided and someone found that then the club could get in serious trouble so even though it is violating privacy to an extent, they are covering their own ass as well. My advice, stop bringing in liquor to the club - you will always get caught eventually, I know, I was famous for doing that shit in my dancing days and the only place I didn't get caught was a small dive where the owners didn't give a fuck and would go back there to take shots with me.

I don't think it was right of them to go through your bag without you present.

At the majority of clubs that I work in, as you walk in, a bouncer will search your bag in front of you (sometimes they search it thoroughly, sometimes they don't) and some clubs even pat me down which I hate but it is what it is. Never have I heard of a dancer having her things searched while she's not watching the search.

It sucks but very very few of the clubs I worked at didn't care enough to come get me if they were going to search my bag for my alcohol stash, I would be working the floor and next thing I knew I would be getting called into the office with my "soda bottles" sitting on the desk, lol.

Wow, I have never worked at a club that searched my bag and I've worked at many clubs. The thought of clubs routinely searching bags sounds like a breach of privacy to me. However, in your case since you did in fact have liquor in your locker, do you think maybe they had suspicion and/or a justified reason to go through your bag? Then it wouldn't be an invasion of privacy if they had a justifiable reason to suspect you brought in alcohol.

I do think they should've addressed you about a "suspicion" (if they had one) and had you present during the search. The way they went about it isn't cool.

It kinda depends, I mean you are on their property and they do have a right to set rules about what you can/can't bring. Also, did you sign a contract at all? There might be some fine print in there about this sort of thing.

I have worked at a club that made me sign off that they had the right to search dancers' lockers; it would have been annoying had it ever happened to me, but I felt it worth it to keep the druggies out. I get what they were trying to do.

Not quite. You were under suspicion of bringing alcohol into the club.

It's probably in your contract that they reserve the right to search your bag/ locker. I know it's in mine.

At my home club our contract states if management suspects you are bringing in drugs or drug paraphernalia (or generally anything you shouldn't) they have the right to search our lockers since the lockers technically belong to them.

Club's property, club's rules. You don't have any more of a case for 'privacy' at the club than you do at a vanilla job when it comes to possession of prohibited objects or substances. I agree they should have had you present b4 breaking the lock, or however they got into your locker, as a courtesy, but they are legally in the clear to search your locker or your belongings.

I've seen multiple locker searches for drugs, stolen property, etc. It's in our contract that management can cut locks and search.

If you don't want to have problems with it, don't bring contraband to work with you.

Rule #1 of bringing your own liquour to the club - Don't tell ANYONE, and especially don't share with anyone, lol.

No really, I don't have much room to talk but now that they know, if you didn't get fired then they will be on your ass about it so if you continue then you for sure will get caught again. If you can't work without drinking liquor and have to resort to bringing your own then go to another club that sells liquor and allows dancers to drink so you don't have to bring it in illegally. Most people are going to say if you can't work sober then don't work at all but if you are to the point of brining in your own liquor then that just goes in one ear and out the other, so if you are going to continue stripping and drink at work then be smart about it.

I've worked at tons of clubs that mask the search without consent rules as "complying with the police."

I've never been into sneaking in anything, but it is annoying. Schools have been leading the way with no-consent drug sniffing dog searches.

I never dealt with this but I always stayed out of trouble. Yes they have the right to inspect but checking without you there seems wrong. Was there booze in the bottle? if so, then no sympathy.

He disrespected your privacy by going through your bag. I would confront him, even if he suspected something like alcohol he shouldve asked you in private.

^ Yeah well, this is strip club land. You don't get a whole lot of respectful people in management.
My thought on the matter, if I was management, would be "Fuck, I don't want to deal with this girl making a scene, I'll just do it when she's not here". It's never pretty when a dancer and manager confront each other over something; I've never heard of it going down WITHOUT hysterics from the stripper.

And in this case, he made his point when you realized your alcohol was missing. Whether or not you keep doing it is up to you. Personally I think you're risking your job and that you should either switch to a club that serves liquor (if it's really THAT big a deal) or learn to drink wine/beer.

Everywhere I have worked has reserved the right to search bags and lockers whenever they wanted, but the person the bag/locker belonged to is present so the manager couldn't be accused of planting stuff on them. But all clubs/managers operate differently.

That being said, you're wrong to bring liquor in. Are customers allowed to bring alcohol in? No, they have to buy it. If an establishment has a liquor license they have to be the ones providing/serving it and have other rules they have to abide by, otherwise the bar will lose their liquor license. It is the law, and they are just following the rules to keep their livelihood. In my state you cannot serve alcohol, in any way, without a license. That means bartenders, waitress, hell, even the guy at the register of the liquor store has to have a serving license. We even have a few customers barred from our club because they got caught bringing in those little shooter bottles of alcohol.

The OP is offering her services at a private property. There's no such thing as a right to privacy when working in a private business. The management was within their boundaries to do what they did.
