Angry Did a shady chick just cost me a job?

A new restaurant just opened in my area where the girls literally serve you in thongs. (No strip clubs for atleast 40 miles.)
It has good food and because its the only place like this in a really wealthy area its always packed, literally all thats in the parking lot is bmw's, corvettes, and Ferraris.
Always packed, never a space open. I had to walk to get the application.

Anywho, i wanted in on this..
In my area, better traffic then the clubs, AND all 5 star customers.. Im sold.

I went in to get the application in person. I know they like to look at you in these places and i didnt want to fool with calling.
Ive gained alittle weight over the past few months so my confidence was already low.
Nothing dramatic, but still when you know the before, you know the after...
I asked for a application and was happily given one by a weigher, went to the car and filled it out.
When i went back in to give it to a manager, there was about 5 girls standing there talking to the hostest,
I asked for a manager and one girl who seemed friendly enough said he was back at the back and she would
go get him, and then she took my application.
She was gone about 10 minuets and i sat up front and waited.
When she came back out she said he was busy, but he knew who i was and he would call me...
That was 4 days ago and ive yet to have a call. Im thinking she just threw my application away.
Im scared to call because if they where trying to let me down easy, i dont want to look stupid..
But honestly. the girls wernt all that.. They where pretty basic and working at clubs for awhile i have a very put together look. Most girls who use there appearance for money do.

Should i call? The girls seemed shady like when you first walk into a club for the first time. Avoiding looking at me, ignoring me (I tried to make casual conversation with the hostest, and was just given a "mmhm".
I know the logical awnser would be to call, but her saying he came out and looked at me, then didnt come talk to me just makes me feel rejected.

I don't think she did anything with your application, but call to be on the safe side. If you felt that chick might had thrown your application, go back another day and fill a new one...and don't give it to anyone who's not in charge of hiring.

Just call back in and follow up! Meet the manager in person. Its busy - so call and ask when is a good time to meet him. That way you won't waste your time going in unnecessarily.

Its not a rejection. The place is super busy and so is the manager so it probably got placed on a large to get to pile. People love it when you are pro-active!

^^^ from a 'functional equivalent' standpoint, this 'Breastaurant' shares much with upscale big city strip clubs. Lucrative earnings opportunity thanks to 'well heeled' customers, a limited number of total available 'jobs' per shift, etc. Thus girls already working under such conditions are naturally a bit paranoid ... since the manager could very well attempt to find reasons to 'fire' a less attractive, less effective existing girl to 'make room for' a more attractive, more effective new girl.

I wouldn't doubt in the least that, under such circumstances, your job application could have 'accidentally' wound up being lost !!!

I've known fast food employees to throw away applications because they felt threatened by the person applying. Definitely call back! Go in the middle afternoon (2-3pm) as that is usually the quietest time in the restaurant biz.

Don't give up until you hear someone tell you that they aren't hiring. Being timid isn't going to land you a job, you've got to show that you aren't afraid to ask for the job.

Next time you see another chic wanting to grab your application, just tell her no and that you'll come back to give it to the manager directly. Or wait for him if it's that busy.

No matter the type of restaurant (or retail job for that matter), you can pretty much count on not getting the job unless you hand the application to the manager directly and make a great first impression. When I dropped off applications I never got calls back. When I handed them to the manager I'd almost always get interviewed right away and hired on the spot.

Even if they aren't hiring and even if the manager decided not to hire you go back. You have nothing to loose and the manager may be impressed by your tenacity.

I used to be a restaurant manager for 2 restaurants, and I've worked at numerous others as hostess, server, catering attendant, etc. It was pretty standard policy at most places I've worked, for the manager to make you wait half an hour while you're there, so they can see if you're REALLY interested, or to see if you'll pursue them by calling or coming back later. At one chain restaurant I worked at, we'd get 10-20 or so applications a day; we weren't hurting at all to find good employees. But we wanted to see who was going to put forth the effort and take a more forward approach. So yes, call them. Or go back in person (preferable). Your best time is Mon-Thurs from 2-4pm. And if someone tells you they're on the phone, in a meeting, busy, whatever, just say "Oh, I've got time to spare. I can wait " and get ready to sit there for 45 minutes. Persistence pays off.

Edit to add: That being said, I've known girls that will toss applications because the person filling out the application is pretty. One was even another manager who didn't want the GM to see. So yes, it's possible that your application got trashed (though not too common, but not unheard of). Going in person works to your advantage because then you know your application is making it into the hands of someone in charge.

Thank you guys. Im going to call tonight and just casually say "I wanted to make sure the number on my application was right, i recently had a change". that way i can know whether they have it or not.

I had a feeling, as soon as i got back into my car, i told my husband as soon as setting down "well, i think she just threw away my application".

And you're defiantly right about earning potential and feeling threatened, even if it was a burger joit i would assume they would feel threatened by anyone applying, just due to the super high-end clientele.

This is defiantly where i want to take on a part time job. They are constantly PACKED (I went to eat at midnight on Tuesday, packed... Got my application at 11am on Monday.. Packed.)

Ill update you guys later on whether or not the manager ever even received my application lol.

Don't forget, girls can be bitches when they're intimidated. I don't know if she necessarily threw your application out, but it could explain her standoffish attitude.
Regardless of your interaction with that girl, I would go back anyway.

Forget calling. Just go in personally.
