Default was i being bitchy? (audition related)

so today i finally got off my lazy ass and went to audition at a club by my house. I had previously called the club a week ago and asked when auditions were and the guy told me just come in during daytime and talk to the manager. so i get there and ask if theyre hiring dancers and he says theyre accepting applications and they call the girls theyre interested in. now im not new to this so I know that clubs are always hiring and if they like you they will hire you on the spot. so i asked him if they ever did auditions or if they made every girl fill out an application and wait for a call back. and he said yes and i gave him this look like "really? do you think im stupid?" and just turned around and left mid convo and left after telling him i dontn fill out applications for strip clubs. my friend says i was being bitchy and maybe thats why i didnt get hired. I just get annoyed with the runaround bullshit in strip clubs from management and customers. I would much rather hear a no than a lie. did i play this all wrong or am i just becoming a bitchy veteran stripper?

I work in an area where strip clubs don't do auditions, so it's possible that this particular club works that way as well. Typically they'll just hire you on the spot (after you fill out whatever they want you to sign), and your "audition" is your first few shifts. Realistically, if you make money you'll be back, and if you don't, you won't.

My current club does this. It's the only club within 3 hours so they're "selective".

I thought I was getting the polite let-down so I thanked the manager for his time and went to another club in the meantime, and waited for a call back. TWO WEEKS later I got the call, got hired. I had to have an hour long interview, mostly management informing me of state laws, city ordinance, and club rules (very strict), sign an agreement to abide by the rules, etc. Then I got to work that night and put in a schedule.

So yeah given that that is a possibility, you were definitely being bitchy and rude, but they probably know how most strip clubs work and aren't surprised by your reaction. You could try again. My club "re-hires" and "re-auditions" bitchy girls lol

I understand your frustration OP, I feel the same way whether it's a SC or a vanilla job. But I think you were out of line. Filling out applications has been SOP at every club I have ever worked or even tried to work in. It's just part of the hiring process. If you're getting pissy over smtg as standard as filling out an application, I can't imagine that leaving a positive impression on whoever was on the receiving end of your temper. I know that even in a SC I wouldn't want to call back 'that girl' bc I have no patience for prima donna 'tudes. Chill the hell out instead of giving them a reason to not hire you.

things are different now. lots of clubs have you fill out apps, give your SS#, put on a strict schedule, etc nowadays. also depends on the area. i would have at least filled out the application, i mean what do you have to lose

I had to fill out an application at my club, then audition, read through a handbook and go through an orientation...It's not unheard of. I would just fill out the stupid piece of paper and see what happens.

I think the OP is referring to clubs that ask you to fill an application and then they call you, like most vanilla jobs. That's usually code word for "don't call us, we'll call you if we feel like it".
