Mind Blowing What should I do?

So I recently traveled 10 hrs away to work (dance) in a city that has endless clubs it seems to try. However every night I worked I could't break over $200 even after doing multiple dances @ $25 a pop. The guys seemed to appreciate me more up there & i didn't have trouble getting hired anywhere for the most part. I took my SO with me on the trip bc I was very low on cash & he said he'd help me. I return tonight back home after being away for 2 weeks & really only worked 6 nights total while up there & after him paying for most of the motel costs ,I'm still only coming home with my rent only :/ I'm thinking of trying a closer city 4 hrs away with cheaper lodging & going alone bc I think he stressed me out too much while on my last trip. The reason I don't dance here is bc I'm in the bay area in CA & we all know that is prob the worst place to work & actually bring home something worthwhile. Plus they are mostly schedule nazis & I can't cope with that on a weekly basis. So here's my worry & confusion .... I love where I live but I'd def have to travel to dance & I'm paying nearly $700 a month rent for a room with a cool roommate in a beautiful home close to the ocean (which I love), however I'm still going to have to pay for lodging whenever I travel to work which seems shitty to me to have to pay for two places when I'm going to be gone for at least half the month. I've posted ads on CL offering to be a personal assistant or house sit in exchange for cheaper or free rent to at least save on not having to pay for rent in that aspect ,but no real replies just yet. Ugh. What do you traveling girls do in this kind of situation??? I want to still have a home base to return to bc being homeless sucked big time for me last year & I seriously don't want to have to go thru that again. I mostly drive whenever I go to travel & dance somewhere. I usually almost always ask for a weekly rate at the motels to save on lodging. I love traveling but don't want to give up my room or have to move somewhere else I wouldn't be happy. Help! Feel free to pm me if you guys have any suggestions on the states & cities that cater to traveling dancers.

Thanks so much for reading <3

    Get an RV!

You also mentioned you charge $25/dance if the clubs have no rules about price why not charge $30 or even $40 for the dance if they do just single dances.

Also you mentioned your bf going along with you but maybe you can take another dancer(s) you trust to split the travel costs.

I agree w/ bringing a fellow dancer rather than an SO. The SO seems to be too much of a distraction. The right fellow dance could also be a good hustle buddy -- read double dances & more $$ for both of you.

The RV idea is cool. Otherwise you might just have to suck it up & deal w/ scheduling requirements in the place you love living, travel less distance from the place you love living, find a cheaper place in your city or relocate to an area that's more lucrative.

If this was a work trip......why did you only work 6 out of 14 days?

Well the SO (who is now my ex, I just broke up with him today) was such a fucking nightmare to deal with the entire time that he drained me of all my energy to work. Lesson learned yes I know, I only took him with me bc I knew he'd pay for most of the trip. Anyways ya i'd love to get an RV but I don't have enough in savings for something like that. As far as moving somewhere more lucrative, as I said earlier ^ I love it here & am not ready to move anywhere else just yet. I think that the next time I travel anywhere esp back to the club I just went to, I will work 2 weeks straight and be ok. The only other fellow dancer I know is weary about traveling anywhere (for some weird reason or another) , so that's pretty much out. We talked about going to her home city to work but she's not too sure if I'd get hired there or not. I'm honestly just wanting to go alone at this rate bc I seem to do better without having someone else to account for. I've also been looking for cheaper places where I'm at but there aren't really any for the lower rate I'm looking for. I am going to suck it up & work here with a schedule for a few more days just to ensure I'll have extra money after my rent is paid. I have also found 2 other cities that are about a 4-5 hr drive away that have clubs I might can work at. I guess I'm just more afraid to up & leave what I've got now and risk being homeless again or having to move somewhere I hate due to not having alot of money saved :/

I will try that route the next time I'm up there at that club , however I had THE worst luck selling any VIPs to custys. They all just wanted the regular dances it seemed. I'm also gonna try more clubs that are known for their VIP dances the next time I'm up. I wish I had more dancer friends up here I could trust that weren't tied down to their bf, ugh.

Is 200$ better than usual for you? If it is then maybe do another trip alone and work as much as you can so you come home with extra money. But if it's not that much of a difference I don't see how traveling 10 hours would be worth it. I say try the city thats about 4 hours away and go alone so you work every night if you can, but then if you're aline you have to subtract all those extra costs from what you make. Is dealing with a schedule really that bad? If I were you I would probably deal with the schedule, work as much as I could for a little while and build a savings. Then when you have a decent amount saved you can think about moving sonewhere cheaper or move by clubs you make more money at.

I've made better than $200 at the bikini place I was working at, but in the last few months the money has declined way beyond what I feel is worthless to stay & be miserable. I felt I could make more up there & prob anywhere else as long as I made sure to work every single night. The city I was in had a motel with a weekly rate of $280-$300 per week & I know that I could manage that if I just worked consecutive nights until I left. Not to mention but my area isn't really tattoo friendly w/ the guys or clubs so it's kinda a double edge sword. Besides would you REALLY stay in a club you were miserable in? I don't think so.

Why don't you try Fargo? They have dorms and private rooms. (At least in 2010 they did)

^ Didn't you say that they didn't like alternative/tattooed girls up there? Or was that Montana?

If you have your blonde wig it doesn't matter.

True. I say go to the 4 hour away city. 4 hours isn't as bad as 10! Less gas too.

So the 4 hour city was a bust. Only got hired at one club which was beyond skeezy & I didn't feel comfortable enought to work there even for one night so I left. I tried working my old club last night but hell even for a Sat it was crazy slow & I left with $125 after pay out. Ugh! I could still try this other place 5 hrs away which is on the way back up to Portland if I wanted but as always no guarantees I'd get hired there. I'm guaranteed to work in PDX & have found cheap lodging & also made decent money last time I went up there, so is this a safe bet? I still owe Nov's rent (which isn't much) What would you guys suggest? If I stay here in town I'm gonna be unhappy at my home club & my options are limited when it comes to trying other places around that aren't schedule nazis.

Was Reno the city you didn't like? I'm sorry to hear It sucks having to rely on traveling. I'm dealing with that right now. My 3 hours away club isn't worth a shit moneywise except for on weekends so I'm still on the hunt myself. If you know you're going to be able to work and make money in Portland head back up that way! It couldn't hurt to try the club that is on the way because at least if they don't hire you you can just get back in your car and drive to where you know you'll make money

yes Reno was the city I hated. That place was a shithole lol. ya I do love traveling though bc I love to not have to see the same faces all the time. Going back up north is what I'm gonna end up doing . I know it's the norm for most of us on here to travel for work so I'm ok with it.
