I do have to agree if someone travels for only $250 that, that is bad. I wish more dancers would admit on stripper web when they have bad nights as well as good nights. I have been doing this for 10 years and I have had bad nights. Definetly way more good nights but I don't like to pretend I bank every night at every club for sure. I have connections in 10 states right now so I know what girls are making and A lot of clubs are slow even the good ones and you have to get lucky more often lately.

I know there are girls who post when they are doing bad but their are some who want to make it seem like the only have good nights only. I'm a top dancer and sometimes I have bad nights. I call really bad 300 or less.

I agree with this, and 300 or less is a bad night for me as well. On those nights I feel like I might as well had waitressed but then the next night comes and I remember why I don't.lbs.

I think Antonia nailed it. She didn't over glamorize the job, and basically gave a realistic description of what it's like to dance. She also made no excuses or apologies for herself when she was questioned by Lisa Ling. I really liked that.

She had to have hustled her ass off to have $500 before 2am on a weekend night at Penthouse, though. Most of the $ is made after 2am there. She must have been exhausted.

I appreciated her more than the young girls in the beginning. The one that said she only wears designers on her face made me laugh. It's easy to say when you're 21 that you're going to reach this or that lofty goal and be out by 30. If their concern is driving Mercedes cars and having designers on their face now, thats not likely to happen. Seems they're counting their chickens before they hatch.

I thought Lisa Ling was fair in this episode. Unlike most people, she didn't go into the interview to confirm her own bias about what she thinks stripping is.

I have seen very few 'documentaries' or news spots or whatever you want to call them, that I would call truly realistic & honest abt the job. They always seem to take it to one extreme end (glamour, big-ticket gifts, rain $$$ every nite) or the other (they all have track marks, missing teeth, bruises from the pimp rather than the pole). But after this review ^^^^ I think I may have to put sm time aside to give this one a chance.

    Antonia takes the cake.
I think they chose the right women for this.
To begin with we have the average young strippers who spend money on frivolous shit but think it'll all work out in 8 years when they retire.
We have the (sorry to be crude) bottom of the barrel stripper who doesn't know her worth and therefore is satisfied with meager earnings. She's a beautiful girl with a great body but she's not a good hustler. There's always a handful of these girls in every club.
Then you have Antonia who is your smarter, completely conscious rare gem in the strip club. Not only is she a good hustler and hard worker she is also a wholesome, confident, intelligent person and is unapologetic for who she is. She was tactful and bold, something I find difficult to be at the same time.

Really glad they chose Antonia because she was honest and IMO gave a good representation of what it's really like. She wasnt stupid, a drug addict, a drama queen, dishonest or anything else that could have perhaps raised questions about the story she told.

Again, they CNN really did a great job casting for this.

Also just wanted to ask OMG DID ANYONE ELSE SEE THAT BITCH WITH THE NEON WALMART FLIP FLOPS ON STAGE???? I thought dancing barefoot was tacky but it's 1000x better than flip flops.

antonia is an addict fyi. shes very smart and has a good perspective of the industy but if you read anything by her she goes well into why she kept going back to stripping to fuel her meth addiction. shes been arrested for prostitution too. my view of her isnt any lower than any of the ones expressed in this thread but i find it funny that a forum that consistently hates on extras girls now has such a favorable opinion if one just because shes older and educated.

I'm thankful I didnt do it now. Everyone would be on here commenting about me. Though i'm sure most of it would be good, there are still hateful people out there. And Seira whom I travel with didn't want her face shown so I guess it worked out for the best.

Could just be me, but the only thing I could imagine ppl getting annoyed over in this thread is how you keep trying to make it all abt you.

I meant chosen for the overall project, not just chosen for the final cut.

Just found an old article about the house mom at Penthouse and guess who conducted the interview? It wasn't Lisa Ling. lol

    http://therumpus.net/2010/11/recessi...-of-strippers/

actually pretty interesting. be prepared to pick your jaw up after the first paragraph (which doesn't have much to do with the rest of the article, but would be an equally entertaining read if elaborated upon)

No one should generalize about older dancers. I've known two that worked into their 40s- they have houses, cars, savings, spouses, kids.... Normal things. Of course CNN isn't gonna follow any of my mature lady pals around because their lives are massively boring. Trust me. They (CNN) might not have known that this woman had drug issues but is it really that big of a deal? People like Charlie Sheen & Andy Dick are pop culture figures for massive drug consumption- it's part of their schtick. They have haters too.

IMO Lisa Ling totally prefers this kind of story beat to other more terrible ones, like having her sister kidnapped by a foreign government or going to visit Third World slums. Strippers = ratings gravy

    It's on Netflix.

For the record, I thought Antonia came across as amazing. And I don't want to argue, but publicly outing another girls addiction problem is pretty mean...it's a disease and if that's true I really hope she seeks treatment and recovers. She clearly has a lot of amazing things ahead of her both inside and outside of the industry.
