Sad Amatuer night fail--las vegas strippers please help

I've been trying to obtain a job stripping but this literally has been the hardest job I've ever tried to get.
I wish somebody would have stopped me went to amateur night at Little Darlings that doubled as my audition& it was a complete FAILURE.
The thing is, I was loving every moment on the stage but the crowd was not loving me LOL most customers were on their phones. Not only was 3/7 girls competing pro-strippers, but at the end of my "performance" the DJ called me a dolphin. Whatever that means. I did make $8 (the least amount out of all 7 of the girls)...but $2 of those were left behind by the person who danced right before me

I'm at a lost. I have read a million & one threads on here that have comments saying a semi-cute face, a smile, & confidence is all you need to ace an audition...not in my case. What should I do?

Should I get a normal job to pay for pole classes until I'm any good?
Should I just suck it up & keep trying the clubs with good reputations?
or should I try a smaller, less established club like the Can Can Room? I thought Lil D's was beginning-stripper friendly but I suppose not.

I'm 20. Palomino's & Diamond Cabaret said they are not hiring. HELP

Congrats on having the courage to pursue your dream.

Listen up, stripping isn't easy; its a job which requires resilience and flexibility. When you are working in a club managing expectations and coping with rejection is part and parcel so use your audition experience to cultivate your resilience in preparation for the job.

I was hired off the bat at Spearmint Rhinos, after a month I moved to a smaller club, friendlier amongst dancers, and was taken under the wing of the girls; I learned a lot and now I could choose where I want to work.

Go ahead and try the smaller club now. Or you could audition to waitress/floorhost at the club you would like to work at to get a feel for what works and what doesn't.

I'm an Aussie and I don't know about the area you're auditioning in but if its an urban club then I assume you have to be an amazing dancer? So pole lessons/dancehall lessons/circus skills/polker or cardgames can be a great hobby to pick up while you either dance at the smaller club/work in the industry as service staff.

Its always fun to see some body pix (or even some stats) and if the Americans chime in we will learn more about the clubs in your area and what they look for in ladies...

dont do amateur nights. thats your biggest mistake. without a pic or at least measurements + description of your outfit and hair, i cant advise you which clubs you should be targeting.

Honestly I would not advise girls to try dancing in Vegas unless they are very experienced. I have gone there a couple times lately & the whole city is very stagnant. I'm sure certain people are making money there in all occupations but not everyone is gonna be a "winner."

Try another city where dancers are more of a draw for customers versus Vegas, where they are competing with all sorts of other entertainment.

Going by your profile pic thing you're pretty so unless you are overweight I'm not sure why you would do that bad. If you post a picture in an outfit you wore or would wear we could critique you. Also, practice dancing and record yourself and then watch dancers on youtube and compare. I've never worked in Vegas so I'm not much help area-wise but I would say go to one of the dives where you will probably be hired right away. I started at the worst club in my city but I gained some experience and probably got better at dancing and choosing outfits. After the dive I moved onto nicer clubs. Also, I know it's hard for black girls to do well at some clubs so that could be a factor. At my last club I always did really well and my best friend who is black never did. She always said the customers just didn't like her as much. She found another club she banked at and I tried it once and didn't do very well.. so yeah maybe try the other club you mentioned. There's only been one club that turned me down and they wouldn't even let me speak to a manager. I felt really shitty and so dumb dressed up thinking I looked so hot & then getting turned away at the door..so I feel your pain. Don't let it discourage you just practice dancing at home and maybe find a dive just so you can get started and get a little experience under your belt.

If she lives in Vegas though she might not have that option especially just starting out. Unless she's traveling there but I assumed by her post she lives in Vegas..I could be wrong lol.

sorry to hear it didnt go so well for you at the audition. The dj was rude to equate you to a dolphin?!? I like dolphins but dj's are supposed to give you compliments and build you up in a sexy way when introducing you to the crowd.

Unfortunately strip club industry is able to get away with discriminating against dancers they hire based on looks/weight/race/age/etc. when the average company would get sued if they did this. They just sugar coat it by saying 'were not hiring' or some other excuse.

The good thing though is there are still many strip clubs around and you are bound to find a club that will hire you. Not all customers have the same tastes in women/dancers. Go where your looks and talents will be appreciated.

Ehhh. IMHO - girls here can be a bit TOO generous sometimes. A few years back I saw a member who was heavily encouraged for something like 6 months and told "You can do it, you just need extensions!" then when she failed, "Oh you just need real stripper heels." - fails again - "Oh you just need a corset to cover up those last few pounds you need to lose!" ect, ect... probably spent $500 on outfits and makeup and nails and things she was told would DEFINITELY work and literally just got rejected from club after club. All the while posting pictures and it was clear she wasn't going to get hired in the first place.

I can't say if that's the case for you as well, because I haven't really seen pictures of you... so please don't think I'm implying you COULDN'T dance... BUT... it can be harder to get hired than girls here like to claim.
What are the clubs telling you when you get turned away? Did Palomino/Diamond turn you away at the door, or did you call them on the phone? Because without seeing you face to face, a lot of clubs will claim to not be hiring in order to avoid having awful looking girls show up like I'M READY FOR MY AUDITION.

I 2nd every poster saying don't put your faith in amateur nites, bc altho they can be a great way to get your feet wet w/ minimal pressure, most girls who do amateur nites are not actually amateurs.

That said, there can be any number of reasons you weren't hired. Idk what you look like OP so don't take this as smtg meant to tear you down, but did you actually go to this club first as a customer b4 trying to get hired? The best way to choose a club is by going as a customer first, IMO -- you can get an idea of how that individual club is set up, rotation, dress code, etc & see whether your look(size, race, persona, etc) would likely work there.

Maybe you need to lose a few lbs, maybe the MoD doesn't like brunettes, maybe they have too many brunettes, maybe you showed up looking more like a teenage drag queen than a polished, professional dancer, maybethismaybethat. But there are tons of clubs in LV, so plenty of places to scout out, modify your look if appropriate, & try again.

In that particular case? It was someone who was roughly 50ish pounds overweight in an area with a high standard for weight/muscle tone, who had never danced, couldn't apply makeup well, was very shy with new people ect ect. It was one of those 'everything that clubs look for in a dancer - you are the opposite' situations...
Nice girl... just not meant to dance at that point in her life.

I tried to start at Palomino before I was 21 and they turned me away for not having experience. They told me to go to little darlings, so I did am night. There were too many girls for the competition and the manager did a paper pull that magically kept only the white girls to compete. I've watched them on numerous occasions turn away black girls and then hire white girls. With the lack of clubs for dancers under 21 its a really sticky spot to be in, I feel for you. There's pussycats, the manager I used to work with at babes is there now, he texted me last week saying he needs girls. I've never been to or worked at that club so I don't know anything about it, but if you're interested pm and I'll refer you to him.

On starting as a new dancer in Vegas, I grew up here and I can attest its rough! I've been doing it on and off for almost 3 years, and I still feel like a newbie! I've gone back and forth with vanilla jobs a lot because I thought I was just not good at being a dancer. Reading this forum has really helped show me that I CAN be good at it if I just stick to my guns, and don't let fear of competition get the best of me because we work in a city that intimidates even girls with years of solid experience, but its also one of the best cities to bank! So good luck to you love and if you really want it don't give up!

I'm a "floater" (no stage time) meaning i give lapdances all night which is no problem with me because my stage moves s u c k Tonight is my first night & I'm nervous as shit. May the stripper gods be with me

    Im 5'4 130lbs...average
Im relying on my dazzling personality, curly Indian weave, & nipple piercings to get me paid!

You are cute!! That said its hard in the bigger clubs in vegas if you are not overly tiny, like at 5 4" they tend to look for 110-115 lbs-people will probably argue that but I was at the top club there for 6+ years and watched who they hired, their standards were extra rigid for black girls, completely unfair!

They immediately referred me some where else. I heard they are super picky with the black girls they hire anyway. They like to keep an "American" look. Whatever.

I am in love with you, can I please take you home??? You are SO FRICKIN PRETTY OH MY GOD.

FUCK THOSE CLUBS, who wants to work at a club where you have to compete against other girls to even work there??? 8 bucks on stage for a face like that???? HELL NO, I'm glad you found a place that hired you. I hope you make bank there and get what you deserve because my god you are fiiiine. And your stage dancing will get better with practice, dancing isn't even the biggest part of the job.
