Default Travelling dancers - Exchanging currency.

I am currently in Denmark and I head home tomorrow, just for a day.

I have all the money I have made/saved up in Danish Kroner cash. I went to try and change it into pounds and they said I needed to bring ID. I don't want my name or something flagged that I'm changing all this money.
I have 17 000 danish kroner (About £1800 or $2900). It's not loads but they really scared me when they said I'd have to bring my ID

Does anyone have any experience with this??? Should I just change small amounts at a time/different places or something?

^^^ this is now required by any financial institutions which are compliant with FINCEN. Exchanging more than ( equivalent ) US $1,000 triggers an ID requirement which is kept on file at the financial institution. Exchanging more than ( equivalent ) US $2,000 can trigger the filing of a 'suspicious activity' report to the person's home country tax agency.

^^^ maybe. Using a Caribbean based, non FINCEN compliant, financial institution for the exchange would definitely help.

I changed a small amount at my old bank (a major one) & they still wanted me to sign a paper. So yeah, looks like you can't get out of being documented either way, unless you go through a private party who will do it for you as a favor.
