Wow I'm surprised at Hartford. I hear different places all the time are the murder capital. I've heard Detroit, St. louis , Nola. And others.

Interesting the gap between NOLA and the rest

Since the national homicide rate is hovering around 5 per 100k, judge your community based on where you lie there

Some places I wonder. WTF is going on in Tennessee? And why is Charlotte so much worse than Raleigh? Milwaukee? really?

Western cities can be the size of a small state, watering down their stats compared to a dense city like NYC

Portland obviously everyone is too stoned to bother with violence.....

Hartford is a shit hole as are other cities in CT. The media generally ignores the fact crime is lowest it has been in decades in favor of focusing on crimes that make people feel like we are under siege.

I have been to those cities, I'd take either over Hartford, only because either actually have something to offer besides being a shit hole. Hartford, not to so much. It offers the worst a city has to offer (traffic, crime, etc) and none of its benefits. I almost did my grad work in a school in Hartford. But no, not rushing out to move to KC or Houston any day soon!

I know. My ex fiance lives in conn and I've worked in Hartford. It's definitely a shithole along with New Haven. The club there had bullet holes in the window. I thought Hartford would be higher on the list.

Any of the cities in CT are generally shit holes, with some of the nicest burbs with the most $$$ in the country. They commute to NYC and come home to their homes in the burbs of CT and ignore their cities. Surprised more cities from NJ not on the list. Talk about shot holes.

^ I know. I work in Manhattan and tried that dive in New Haven because I went to visit my ex a few years ago. It had a bar called hell attached and we had ro go over there to drink. The bartender and I look at each other and at the same time go" what the hell are you doing here", LOl. She bartended at Ricks Manhattan. If anything that club provided lots of fun entertainment the 4 hours I was there. Conn has some nice subabrbs, they're not all shit holes. I mean a lot of celebs live there and there's lots of money.

As I said, CT has some of the wealthiest burbs in the country, but not one city in CT is worth stopping in for more than a pee at a rest stop and you better watch your back while doing it.

Portland, OR happens to also be in the least politically corrupt state in the US. Maybe something about Oregon keeps people honest?

Here's where I got the crime stats from....

    http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr...decpdf/table-6

It includes the central city and all the suburbs surrounding it. It's called the metro area.

I'd agree with you. Also when I went to the Hartford- New Haven CT area I found it to be better looking than where I grew up in California. One person's craphole can be another person's quaint city, lol
