Duh A little confused about my physical webcam studio's rules ...

Hey there everyone=) I've been lurking this site for a while and successfully did my first night dancing ever. I enjoyed it a lot (and made a great amount) so thank you all!

To my question, I viewed an ad on craigslist about a webcam studio and lurked about that here as well and decided to give them a call. It is a physical studio in my county, with it's own little bedrooms and all that. It's nice, and I like it. My first day was fine and I'm sure I'll only get better.
I've read about how you can't stop thinking about working after you log off, and I really can't! I only made about $60 but for my first day and it being probably a really slow time of day for that kind of thing I was proud of myself.
My boss told me I can't work from home (it's a streammate studio) and I'm getting tempted to apply with another site as well like MFC, naked, etc.
The reason I'm with the studio, is because I don't have any good equipment or anything like that yet. However if it came down to it, I'd buy my own good cam and what not to set up a space here.

My boss did tell me that if I were to quit working at the physical studio, I wouldn't be able to use streammate again for a year. She also made it seem like I wouldn't be able to cam at any place for a year. 1. I'm just wondering if that's true? how could I be blocked from using ANY cam site if I quit? just seems odd.
    2. do you think I would possibly get fired if I opened an account under my name and whatnot on another cam site to work from at home as well?

I'm almost feeling like it was a mistake taking the job in the studio and I should've just sucked it up and began work from home. sigh. I guess I just feel more comfortable starting somewhere physical. Any advice or ideas? Anyone ever been in my situation?

You just wouldn't be able to work on Streamate. You'd be free to work on MFC, ImLive etc etc. It's still a bitch to have to wait to work on Streamate independently, but there are other options.

I really appreciate your fast reply. You're right, it will be a bitch when the time comes that I'm ready to ditch the studio 100% and be completely on my own. I'm glad there ARE other options. It just sounded a little weird how she told me that I couldn't cam for a whole year after I quit!

They can't stop you from working on a site that you didn't sign up for through them. They may be able to stop you from using the same cam name but I doubt they would bother even if they could. The one year thing gets thrown around a lot but when I left my (virtual) studio and tried to sign up as a different account Streamate told me I needed to wait 6 months from my last broadcast under the studio, and even gave me the exact date on which my new account would be reactivated. If I were you I would stay with the physical studio long enough to save up for what you'd need (a webcam, a half-decent computer and a good Internet connection are all you really need) and build up a small emergency fund then I would stop going to the studio, close your SM account and sign up for some new sites under a different cam name.

Go ahead from home sign up to other cam sites immediately before they do it for you & fuck you over.

Dont say a word. keep working & know when you leave or switch guys will find you.

Meanwhile, open up a twitter account to start marketing & building your brand now. To have plenty of guys in place when you do switch.

Thank you girls so much. This is a good community to be apart of. I can see how she would use some 'scare tactics' on me. I'm back on tomorrow at 7am to 3pm. Wish me luck on my second day!
