Default From base and highlight blonde to straight platinum so you only have to bleach roots?

    Am I making sense?

ok so I'm naturally brunette and have done the 2 step thing

    first base
    then balayage highlights

at the salon for years now. Looks good and is very pricey. Well last time, I didn't like how she just experimented with the base and it looks a little too dark for me now.

i want to go all platinum (or close to it) in one visit so I only have to come in for a root touch up from then on.

can you even do that? I'm not expecting it to turn out PERFECT perfect cause obviously there are lots of colors going on now, but it also don't want it to look crazy or fry my hair.

so I know we have quite a few blonde experts on here... Help me please!

By the way I am pretty blonde already... And the top layer is almost platinum from all the highlights

I went from highlights to double process platinum. My hairdresser just bleached my highlighted hair for a little while to even things out and I didn't suffer much breakage (that time at least). Sometimes I regret not just doing highlights because I lost about half my hair a few months later and the regrowth looks terrible after a month. But one pro of double process is that it's easier to do at home than highlights (with the right mirror setup), which is obviously great for saving money and time.

Try doing a home grown "glamour shampoo" which is applied to the parts of your hair you want to lighten. Mix bleach/developer with shampoo & warm water, apply to your hair & cover it with a plastic cap for 20-30 mins depending on your desired color. Rinse & shampoo out & follow with a deep conditioner. This method also works as a toner to get rid of those yellow/brassy rings. Hope this helps

I had this done and it completely ruined my hair , so make sure you have a good, competent colourist if you decide to go ahead with it.

its hard to give advice without knowing the different levels in your hair and the overall health. if you only have a 1-3 level difference in your hair now you should be able to go platinum with minimal damage. if youve got more of a 90s array of colors in your hair, id recommend lifting the ends and just bleaching the roots to whatever blends with the darker color so you have an ombre effect, which you can have for a few months to assess if theres significant damage and you still get almost the same platinum look at work. then lifting the darker parts later.

It's pretty healthy and about a little past shoulder length, but very fine because that's just how my hair is

I'm gonna put a weave in so I don't really Care a about it not getting longer, but I don't want it to become like jelly. You know what I mean.

Hairdressers here suck ass, I am almost Better off doing it myself but then again I am scared.

So you're pretty blonde already with platinum lights at the top. Why don't you get a full head of highlights, avoiding the top layer or platinum pieces? Then in a month get more. That'd probably be the safest and best-looking option. I'm platinum now and just do the roots once a month. It's actually not a whole lot of upkeep like a lot of blondes say. Roots once a month just like any other hair color, purple shampoo as needed to keep yellow out, maybe a few more deep conditions a month, that's about it. Happy blonding!

i don't seem to get blonder doing the highlights and base, have been doing it for years now. Last timeI actually got darker, ugggh!! but I am switching my stylist and just going to tell the next one to really use a more lightening base and do a ton of highlights. I might get to where i want with that..
