Has anyone heard of PrEP? It's a new pre-exposure prophylactic that is being marketed to anyone considered "high risk" for contracting HIV. So far, most of the articles I've read are about gay men using PrEP but sex workers and anyone who uses drugs intravenously is also at higher risk.
The reason I'm asking is my doctor brought it up. I have an awesome dr who was a sex worker before she became a dr! She's very helpful and answers all my questions. She asked me if i would be interested but to be honest I don't feel like my risk is very high...i use condoms for anal and regular sex and my clients are "higher end" so I assume they aren't using needles or engaging in other high risk behavior...
NOW that could all just be a false sense of security. I don't know for a fact that my clients don't use. I don't know who else they are fucking. I don't use condoms for bj. (i also don't need a lecture on that) I know that the risk factor of contracting HIV from oral sex is extremely low but its not zero.
I am also tested regularly, every 3 months. Is it worth the extra layer of protection from PrEP? what do you all think? Here's the link for info on it btw http://prepfacts.org
