    Default PrEP & HIV/STI prevention

Has anyone heard of PrEP? It's a new pre-exposure prophylactic that is being marketed to anyone considered "high risk" for contracting HIV. So far, most of the articles I've read are about gay men using PrEP but sex workers and anyone who uses drugs intravenously is also at higher risk.

The reason I'm asking is my doctor brought it up. I have an awesome dr who was a sex worker before she became a dr! She's very helpful and answers all my questions. She asked me if i would be interested but to be honest I don't feel like my risk is very high...i use condoms for anal and regular sex and my clients are "higher end" so I assume they aren't using needles or engaging in other high risk behavior...

NOW that could all just be a false sense of security. I don't know for a fact that my clients don't use. I don't know who else they are fucking. I don't use condoms for bj. (i also don't need a lecture on that) I know that the risk factor of contracting HIV from oral sex is extremely low but its not zero.

I am also tested regularly, every 3 months. Is it worth the extra layer of protection from PrEP? what do you all think? Here's the link for info on it btw http://prepfacts.org

Haven't read the article but I would certainly give it serious consideration. Ever heard any1 talk abt 'coming home w/ smtg even Ajax won't get rid of'? I would file HIV/AIDS under that. Once you get it, it ain't going away. Why would you shirk any extra layer of protection against that?

If they're married and they're having unprotected sex with their wives, they're high risk. What if said wife is also sleeping around?

I'd say that even though you've been working as an escort you still are using condoms every time. With the exception of BBBJ to me you don't seem to be in the 'high risk' category.

When you give bj without condom, if their cum isn't getting in your mouth, ass, or pussy then you probably don't need this medication.

To be on the safe side, IF the condom breaks or IF you client forces sex without a condom then yes I can see where this medication would come in handy to prevent HIV.

Overall you seem like you're taking necessary precautions already.
