There is a thread in I think Dancers Discussion down in blue asking guys how they feel abt the 'barely legal' look. You may find it to be an insightful read.
Otherwise, the right makeup techniques (Youtube) & more mature looking outfit choices will help. But hey, if it turns out you fit a particular niche, give it a try -- & if it works for you, then milk it.

When I think of "younger" looking clothes I think of the neon, bright bikini sets. I had stopped by a club a while back and all the younger ones were wearing those, but I think I was the only one wearing a dark colored mini-dress. I usually like those bright neons myself, but opted for something else. You could also try stuff like stockings, black lace lingerie. A lot of older men are into that stuff.

Maybe stuff like this:

Or something like this, I'm not feeling how the material but I like that it has sleeves:

I get noticed a lot more by older men when wearing these styles and they say that they like the fact that I wear more and reveal less. From what I've been told by them the days of yore most strippers wore less revealing outfits and lingerie styled stuff and they appreciated that.
Also if you have tattoos I would suggest to covering them up if possible. Something I agree with other customers, tattoos look like a young woman thing. They're trendy and in style, I know not all women who are younger get them but it seems like the large majority of the girls I've worked who had a lot of them were all younger.

Rhinestones are good, they remind me of a show girl look.
You could pull it off, maybe add some matching stockings if you're not into pole tricks or anything like that. When I wear stockings I like to wear these:

Garters are good too:

Otherwise there might not be a lot to do with outfits. If I go to the club barefaced people think I look like a kid too, so I go with the dramatic smokey eye look.

If you haven't seen it done at your club and the clientele is not too 'divey', this might be a good opportunity to look different than the other girls based on what you're wearing and bank with this.

Everything Starling said is spot on.
I also sometimes have this problem, people thinking I'm barely 18. As far as standing out... the other girls in my club either wear a cut-off t-shirt and a thong, or they just wear bikini sets. When I look classier, I stand out. I'm very popular with the old men and sometimes even younger guys who appreciate a little more mystery. It can be a very helpful thing for making money, so don't worry about what the other girls are doing or if they look at you funny.
Things that help:
~ Makeup... either a smokey or cat eye, or a bold lip color (have a MAC girl or makeup artist recommend you a few good shades). Not both at once though. If you want to learn to work with eyeshadow; those little kits with 3 colors can be pretty easy once you get the hang of it
~ Hair.. probably curled (I've been told straightened or very long hair makes you look younger). Another option is a half-up style, with the up portion brushed backwards (so you can't see the part) and poofed up a bit.
~ Either a dress like those Starling posted, or at least a shirt that covers your midriff. Black, silver, gold, white. I wouldn't wear rhinestone shoes if you go for a metallic outfit though.
~ A few simple jewelry pieces are good... I usually wear either hoops or these rhinestone fleur-de-lis earrings, and a rhinestone bracelet from Charming Charlies. That rule about always taking a piece of jewelry off before leaving the house works here too, you don't want to wear too much.

* Do slightly retro hairstyles.
* Wear matte makeup and face powder.
* Skip sleep sometimes (lol)
* wear dressier outfits. It will make you look old school, not "old"...
Man, I would be milking the barely legal look if I were you! There are a lot of dudes who are REALLY into young dancers, and depending on how much of a baby face you have, it may be easier to go all out with that look rather than ending up looking like a girl playing dress up. Try out a schoolgirl outfit, pigtails, baby pinks, high socks, little skirts, etc., etc. At least try it once and see if it's lucrative for you -- of course, you have to get into it yourself and rock it since the actual interaction/hustle is so key, but the look can be really successful, so don't be so quick to change it without giving it a real shot!

You can try wearing hair extensions, putting on more make-up, shiny lip gloss, dark eye liner, false lashes and a lot of mascara. Sexier and skimpier outfits...
Oh ad maybe try contouring and highlighting your face if you have a round face, it will make your face look skinnier and a little more mature.

i really would just embrace it while you still have it. youth and wholesomeness are so fleeting for most, and are hot commodities in this industry. you have plenty of time to look older.
that being said, if you really wanna look old and slightly trashy hot..
wear dramatic dark matte makeup. like a bold defined dark red lip, heavy but precise eyeliner all the way around the eye, lots of powder.
i really hate suggesting this, but thin highly arched brows also age a person.
contour your face so that you define your cheekbones and slim your face way down.
big teased hair.
wear a heavy musky scent. no fruity, floral, or bubble gummy perfume.
wear darker muted colors
Having darker hair will make you look older (in general) than having lighter hair.

^^ What does light hair and light contacts have to do with white customers? I've never heard of that. A lot of the black girls at my club actually bank off the old white men. White customers don't always go for white girls and same for blacks, Mexicans, any ethnicity really.

"You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave."

^^^^ Agreed. I am white enough to glow but have dark eyes & darker-ish hair (medium brown naturally; various shades of auburn if I dye it). Of all the things I have nvr received a disparaging remark abt, it's my eyes & I have always worked mixed clubs. Club lighting also tends to distort eye coulour regardless of what it is. Do you just have a disproportionate number of Aryan Brotherhood types patronising your club or what?

What situation would that be, exactly? Whatever it is, I doubt you're the only one who's ever found yourself in it. Also, it would depend on which 'certain men' you mean whether I would want to appeal to them.
If it's merely a question of race, trust me -- white customers are just as diverse as any other group when it comes to what appeals to them. Unless those light contacts are particularly bold, they are not going to make much of a difference ITC bc club lighting distorts colours & plays tricks on the eyes.

In defense to you, not gonna lie but lighter hair makes things whole lot easier, at least for me. I have been dark and light while dancing and light hair all the way. I've had guys turn me down when I had dark hair, saying something along the lines of "I prefer one of the blondes." I went back to light hair pretty quick lol. Bonus points if you're the only one who has it at your club. If you're trying to go for a more ambiguous race look, or look mixed I'd say go for it. Lighter hair can bring out your face too, dark hair tends to wash me out.
I just can't pull off the dark haired look and make less money with it, definitely experiment. Try wigs too to see how it works out.

^Yeah, this has worked for a friend of mine (black) when working in white clubs. She would change up her look and if she had something "special" about her, it worked for her. In her case she would try to make herself look more ambiguous and guys would think she was Latina and she ran with it. It's all relative to the club, for example if you were the only black girl on shift that could be something to play up and those girls tend to do really well at the right club.
I'm actually mixed but don't usually look it IMO. But customers have been about to spot it. I've gotten all kinds of guesses, a lot that were just NOT what I'm mixed with but ran with it for the sake of the customer lol. Definitely try it and just lie about it. If they're going to start making guesses, tell them you're mixed and your (mom or dad's) side is from some made up back story or country.

You've come across advice that white men prefer light eyes and light hair?
There's no way to generalize a group of men like that. I've worked at all types of clubs and there are white men who love the blondes and then there are white men who love girls who are "exotic". In my experience the only race that hasn't loved me (I'm white & blonde) is black. Sometimes they do but not as much as all the other races do. Also, contacts are probably pointless because the lighting does make your eyes look different. My eyes are just plain brown and lately I've been getting a lot of compliments on my eyes in the club. I think it's from my makeup. I wear white eyeliner in the corners of my eyes & dark lashes & cat eyeliner and guys love it. The white eyeliner makes a huge difference your eyes look brighter and bigger. There's another thread on here about looking more "stripper-y" that has some good advice. Tan skin, highlights, long hair.. all the typical guy-hot things should work in anyone's favor.
I also had the issue of looking young but recently started looking my age or older and I'm excited about it haha. I did get my boobs done so I'm sure that has helped.. but the outfits I used to wear when I first started dancing I would NEVER wear now and thinking back on it they made me look so young. White lacey lingerie and pink outfits. Now I usually wear red or black VS lingerie. Your hair could make a big difference too. Long extensions could make you look more mature and done up. Smokey eyes but done correctly not just raccoon eyes haha. Also I think the way you talk and carry yourself makes a huge difference. If you can have an intelligent conversation & walk like you're the shit then you may come across as older to customers.

Same here. & If you just look good guys will turn you into this exotic goddess. I'm just white but I get customers asking where I'm from all the time. I've gotten italian (??), australian, swedish, brazilian (???), and whatever else. I'm like yeah sure I'm italian & brazilian tonight lol

ok i didn't know you were black lol
Btw I love when new members join and immediately start giving others attitude.![]()
I don't think anyone is being bitchy in this thread. Sounds to me like there was a simple misunderstanding with the OP's race (I know I also assumed she was white, which is a bullshit racial assumption on my part).
Onward with the advice, beauties!

I only remembered you were black since you said so in another thread. It's true though, a lot of black girls can be at a disadvantage in a regular white club. I worked with a couple of black girls who did their hair a lighter color like blonde and it worked well for them. There was also one girl who had red hair and she did well with it. She even said that a black customer came to talk to her and spend money on her because he noticed her red hair. If she didn't have the red hair he wouldn't have noticed her because she'd "look like a regular black girl." It's terrible.

Looking ethnically ambiguous is awesome! That was my "de facto" look when I was dancing and I did great being the ethnically ambiguous dancer at the club. If you have long black (not brown, but BLACK) hair, don't dare to dye it; unlike blonde hair, black hair is available in all ethnicities naturally and will make you look even more ethnically ambiguous. Have it in light waves; not dead straight nor very curly. I consider myself an exception regarding the light vs dark hair debate; dark hair worked for me, but blonde made me look overly generic and didn't make me stand out.
Other advice that has been mentioned here (like wearing smokey makeup, using darker color outfits, etc) is spot on.

Yup, men love ambiguous no matter what your actual background is. So experimenting with that isn't off base at all. Although if you can convince guys you're part Chinese you might not even need to even try anything new with your look in that regard, just drop it in conversation whenever possible.
As far as looking older, there are some great suggestions here already. I posted a similar thread a couple years back. The only thing I'll add is that changing the way you speak and your body language helps tremendously. Try lowering your voice a bit if it's high pitched, speak slowly, don't giggle unless the customer is trying to make you laugh (a smile and a compliment does the trick even better), be conscious not to gesticulate or play with your hair, etc.
Imagine yourself as a grown ass seductress on the way to work. Meditate on Salma Hayek's performance in From Dusk Till Dawn. You are powerful. No man in the club has anything on you.
Good luck!
