Eh, looks may get attention, but they aren't typically what holds attention. Having worked at a range of clubs, I honestly don't know which is better, unless by 'one of the prettier girls at a dive' you mean one of the only two girls on shift w/ a full set of original teeth![]()
It all comes down to money. I ll be an ok looking girl at an upscale club as long as I am making good money. But if not it makes me uncomfortable. And being a big fish in a a small pond can make your job easier, but sometimes the clientele you deal with is just not worth it. Wherever I make more money is where I wanna be.

that would totally depend on whether or not the dive was slow or dead most of the time, or whether it had ok earning potential despite being a dive. if that's the case, then hell yeah i'd rather be the best looking girl there who wouldn't lol. but you'd still have to know how to hustle and talk to guys

I've always had more confidence and made better money in dives - girls maybe aren't as experienced (lack of hustling or dancing skills) or possibly the best looking, customers are more laid back and relatable to me personally, it's easier to be seen in a positive light and recommended for dances/VIP especially from influential customers/management/staff, staff and dancers are typically tighter and keep troublemakers out of the club, convenient to work on improving stage shows and hustle styles without a huge audience or super high pressure, etc.
I love the feel of an upper tier club as a customer, but as a dancer I've never felt as hot or comfortable as I do in a dive, and if I don't feel good about myself or my surroundings I won't make money. Granted, all of the stuff above was from my personal experiences, and know for a fact doesn't apply to every dancer. Feel out both and see what makes you comfortable AND makes you money. Follow the money!![]()

Much rather be ok or average looking girl at a mid-tier to upscale club. I can't deal w/ divey clientele.

I'm an ok/good looking girl at a mid-tier as of late, and wooow..the $ is DOUBLE so far on most nights. It's often hard to feel as confident as in my dive, but I feel happier here because..$$$!

A club full of sharks trains customers to spend. If your location can attract the right clientele in upscale clubs, you'll probably do better as a medium fish there regardless of how attractive you think you are. A good rule of thumb is that if you can be hired at a more upscale place, mgmt has already gotten the sense you can make them money. This isn't necessarily to be taken lightly, either.
Personally, I made twice what a lot of coworkers did in a dive, but when I moved to a bigger tank, I grossed much more. Not based on my attractiveness 100%, but because the customers were trained to spend more than at the dive.
Who cares if you're the highest earner in a lower tier club that has limited income potential? If you're okay being unexceptional in an upscale club, I'd be shocked if you didn't gross more in that environment regardless. Look at absolute income, not income relative to your peers.

Hmm... I think I should move to a bigger tank!

Having a hustle that makes you a top earner is the best choice.
I'd also rather be the ugliest girl in the room at a high end strip club than to be the hottest girl at a dive. The amount of shit your have to put up with in dives is unreal, and not worth being the top earner for IMO.
What lol1337 said! At mid tier and upscale clubs, the customers are trained to spend, or be ignored. There's less bullshit. I'm starting to really like working weeknights and dayshifts at mid-tier/upscale clubs as I will usually be one of the best looking girls AND the customers that come in have $. Its a bit easier than being one cute girl in a sea of hotties on the weekends.
Thank you for the responses ladies. I was just curious as to what the different opinions were!

I had always been afraid of applying at the more upscale clubs until this summer. I started at a mid-range tier club and worked there for 2 years... I was one of the best looking girls there and one of the top earners... I am so glad I decided to change environment, because now on a bad night I make more than what I used to make on an ok day at the mid tier club working less hard. The customers are generous, respectful and more classy. They all tip whereas the guys at the club I used to work would tip $20 at most, sometimes $5 and it wasn't uncommon for them to leave nothing even if they were happy with their dances.
I am no longer the hottest girl at work but my earnings increased, I don't have to work as hard and less bullshit to deal with. It's surprising the upscale club is very clean too and management is very strict about the rules. I can't believe that I actually leave with $700-900 after a double shift regularly now... At the previous club where I worked, the most I ever made was $800 after 10 hours and it happened once in a year lol. After awhile it became so dead I was happy to leave with $200.
It was stressful at first because there is more girls than I was used to per shift and all the girls are beautiful, but it's not as depressing because at least everyone is making money compared to my previous club.

This thread is seriously making me consider moving up from a dive.
EDIT: Went to to mid-tier. Serious difference in my earnings already, despite higher house fees. It actually pushes me to hustle harder and surpass my goals.

Hustling in a decently busy dive as one of the hottest girls in the club can be like shooting fish in a barrel. However, in my experience, dives have fairly low earnings ceilings. So you may be busy with dances all night, but since none of the customers will spring for the $200 champagne room (which is often difficult to upsell in places that look like they took $200 to build), you have to work your ass off all night doing private dances to make your money. Sure, you'll occasionally come across a whale who will tip you generously and give you that once-in-a-blue-moon amazing night. But this is not the norm.
Aside from the rare great night, your head will be bumping up against that earnings ceiling every night you work. Dives often offer more consistent money with less potential for super-high earnings. Your money will come mostly from regulars; so if you're good at building regulars and like having them around, dives fit quite nicely. It's also less likely that you'll leave in the hole: tip-outs and stage fees are usually reasonable, and some managers will waive fees on nights that are particularly slow. For better and for worse, you'll also know your co-workers much better than in a high-end club: this means it's harder to stay clear of club drama, questions about your earnings, gossip, and cattiness. Small-pond problems.
On the flip side, nicer clubs generally have higher earnings ceilings, better-trained staff, and nicer rooms (which makes upselling much easier). However, obviously competition is much higher, and whales get swept up quickly by girls who have their hustle down pat. Not being one of the prettier girls in the club can affect your confidence, too. You might be less likely to approach customers who just got done turning down Top Earner #1, or who just got done dancing with Top Earner #2. You'll have more high-money nights, but the money will be less consistent. These clubs will often attract both regulars and out-of-towners, giving you a more varied pool from which to hustle. This can be fantastic for those of us who find regulars to be draining.
Working in a bigger club may come with some corporate shenanigans that you'll have to put up with, too: 2-4-1 dances, selling merchandise, higher tip-outs, higher stage fees, etc. And if you aren't confident, it can be tough walking into a club knowing that you're already $80+ in the hole from assorted fees. Some nights, 50+ girls will show up on a shift that's dead, and you'll leave owing the club money. The anonymity of larger clubs can be very refreshing after working in a dive: girls are less likely to try to get to know you, ask about your earnings, ask to borrow your makeup, etc. Some girls don't like the additional rules that often come with working in better-organized clubs (they often come with fines), while other girls love this aspect.
Also want to add...it tends to be easier to put on a persona - to get into the mood - when you're working in a club that's aesthetically beautiful. It puts you in money-making mode, and it's much easier to quote high prices for champagne rooms and VIPs when the environment is working in your favor. It's also nicer to show up to work when you have a spacious locker room that's kept decently clean.
That said, sometimes these factors can work against you if you find the environment intimidating. If you don't feel like you belong in such a nice place, then you'll feel like an impostor, and you'll sink to the bottom of the barrel. Not to mention, sometimes it's just plain scary to walk up to a huge, beautiful club when you've spent your whole career in dives. It can be quite an adjustment!

I do best as one of the hotter girls in a higher class dive. Its more relaxed, quicker hustle and usually not a whole lot of competition.

I'm currently one of the better looking girls at a pretty dive-y club. It sucks. I think being average at a higher tier club would be better because there's more earning potential. There's no point in being the most attractive if the customers don't have the money to spend on you/are looking for services you don't provide.

I do enjoy keeping my little fishbowls on the side when I can't get a shift at the shark tank, however. I'm a little reluctant to move from my tank ATM because while it's not the biggest it does have a decent reputation and I'm also still licking my wounds from Stiletto. Plus as I told another SW'er earlier this evening my back is not finished. I don't want to go to a new place with a half finished tattoo.

Be wherever you make the most money. The most attractive girl (who can't hustle or has no people skills) at a dive can make no money and plain Jane's can do well at upscale clubs.
