Default Potential Trafficking Victim at my Club this Afternoon...How to Report

    Hey girls,
Have any of you ever come across girls who you have reason to believe may be trafficking victims either by force or coercion in your club? I was working this afternoon and I sat down to chat with a man at the beginning of my shift who said he was waiting for a friend. About an hour later after I came out of the champagne room from doing some dances with another client and I noticed he was sitting next to a young looking girl. Girls coming into my club for whatever reason (date, girlfriend, cool lady friend, prostitute, wife etc.) is not super unusual however there were a few things that were off about this one. She was obviously too young to be this dudes significant other (he was 60+ and she looked in the 16-20 range) unless she was a mail order bride (which was my first inclination), and she was not done up at all like most of the escorts you see coming into the club with their dates. Her hair was in a braid, sweater and leggings, no/very little make up. I went over to talk to her mostly out of curiosity at, and the second red flag (first one being her looking no way in hell over 20 and closser to 16) was that she barely spoke any English. She barely seemed to understand the questions that I was asking and the dude seemed pretty antsy to get rid of me as he said to me when I asked if they wanted a bit of company for a while "I think we're ok we're not going to get any dances or anything." When I asked the girl if she was there because she was thinking about dancing she didn't seem to understand the question. Third red flag is that this dude was accompanying this girl to the bathroom (the bathroom for female customers is right beside the male one and the dj needs to buzz you in so it's not like it's unsafe or anything). All of the other female customers I have seen in this bar seem perfectly able to go to the bathroom by themselves, they went to the bathroom at the exact same time about 3 times during my shift. I wanted to try and speak with this girl in the bathroom but couldn't because this dude was following her around! So strange right? I talked to a friend and she agrees with me that this is suspicious. I want to report it to crime stoppers (I sneakily sat down at the bar and snapped a photo of the two, it's not good quality but it was the only thing I could think of to do at the time) but I don't want to cause any trouble for everyone who works at my bar. Am I being too paranoid? I'm not sure what the best way to go about reporting this would be and what kind of details I should include/omit with the photo.

That's weird as hell, but I don't think there's anything you can do about it. It's not like you have their names, and the photo is probably too bad quality to identify anyone with. Maybe next time bring it up to the manager. The best he'll likely to do is make them to leave, but I don't think there's much else you can do, especially with no proof. Like, it's possible she's a very French escort -- I've definitely encountered a few who were dressed very casually FWIW -- and is just shy or uncomfortable being in the club. Totally possible that you're right on the money that she's being trafficked, but, like, there's not much that can be done with no information about them or their whereabouts, yanno?

I'm confused about the bathroom thing, the DJ has to buzz you into the bathroom? What on earth? How did he go in there with her, isn't that illegal?

It sounds sus as fuck, if you see them again and get the same vibes, call 1 (88 373-7888 which is a human trafficking hotline.

I work in the same club, and yeah, it's a bit of a weird set up. Not entirely sure *why* they lock up the ladies room, but the DJ does indeed have to buzz in anyone who wants to use it. I assume the guy just waited outside the bathroom because it seems unlikely that they'd let him go in with her -- I'm guessing that's why it's locked up, actually, since the ladies room doesn't get much traffic so it's easy to get up to no good otherwise.

Do you know if he paid with a card, and does your club photocopy IDs when customers pay with credit cards?

Look, why not report it, you felt strongly enough to take some action at the time and TBH you were the one observing and interacting in the situation. Unlike any of us commenting here.

As dancers we are exposed to weirdo shit all the time and to have had the reaction you did suggests something beyond normal weird o (for you at least). i have listened to my intuition when I get a massive alert and I am sure it has protected me.

Besides, if you are right, imagine how you could potentially help someone who has no means of helping themselves... put yourself in her position or that of her family.

If you are wrong then you have proved nothing more than that you have empathy for others.

I'm an escort and used to be a regular poster here. A few day ago was the 1st time I have been here in over a year. While I was here I just happened to read your thread. Just now I went to an escort screening site which I encourage you girls to visit too, as on the front page before logging in I noticed there were dancer resources, articles, etc., also. And it's free to join. Anyway there was also a phone number to call to report a "potential suspected trafficking victim" 888-373-7888. The website is called VerifyHim.com

Being an escort, I totally depend on my intuition. When I was younger I didn't have the confidence to trust my own judgment and questioned myself constantly. I have learned as I've gotten older to never do that. Your intuition will keep you alive girls, also trust it.

I do believe that something shady was going on with what you saw in your club. That man probably took her there in an attempt to "groom" her, so to speak. You don't have a lot of information to give, but if you call that number, at least there will be a record of it. If he is grooming her, that won't be the last club he will be taking her to. Maybe another dancer, or somebody else in the street, at a store, or anywhere, may notice this situation and report it too. If they already have a record of it, even though it's not a lot, it will definitely help to connect the dots. I'm glad you came here and posted this. If anything else, it helps to bring awareness and to remind us to go with our gut and always keep an eye out.

If you do call that number, let us know what happens. Maybe we can post it as a sticky, and spread it out among our peers. As much as mainstream society disapproves of us adult sex workers as a whole, we really are the eyes and ears of what is happening out there. We are much more capable at spotting and "knowing" what doesn't seem right and when something feels "off." We can distinguish things that are "hidden in plain site" if you will.

I just noticed that NightGoddess posted the same phone number that I did. I apologize girl, I didn't mean to steal your thunder. I haven't been here lately, so you can consider me a "newbie" again, lol. I'll do my best to pay more attention next time, promise
