    Default LEEP/D&C and tampon use

    hi ladies,

i had surgery two weeks ago (LEEP, D&C, and implantation of Mirena). according to my ob/gyn i had to refrain from sex and tampons for "a few weeks." i really want to go back to work ASAP, but am still having intermittent bleeding from the procedure and so i can't without the use of tampons. i'm just wondering if anyone else has had experience with these types of procedures (specifically the LEEP) and how long they waited prior to using tampons? i know the standard rule is 4-6 weeks, and yes i'm a nurse so i should probably not even ask, but i'm getting impatient and want to see if following the specified time frame is just being really careful, or if it's something i definitely need to do.

    muchas gracias as always. <3

I really wouldn't fuck with Dr's orders. I know I'm always tempted to, but it's better not to mess around.

Do you work in a nude club? If not, consider trying a thong pantyliner on a thong under a pair of booty shorts, and dancing around in front of a mirror/wearing it around the house for a while. One of my coworkers at a schedule club did this because she didn't want to tell the manager why she needed time off.

i do typically work nude clubs, yeah. i've done gogo, and it's ok, just a bit weird to me and seems like drinking alcohol is part of the norm and i'd rather not, since i have to drive home.

^ Its like the best thing ever!!! I have been using them as a tampon alternative for over 6 years now.

Seas sponges can be used instead of tampons with a myriad of health and ecological benefits, they are truly sustainable.
They can also be used when you have your period and want to have sex, plus they can safely catch any discharge whilst still allowing the vagina to self lubricate/keep itself clean unlike wearing a commercial tampon.

Also the sponge sits far lower in the Vagina so it may be safer for that reason too.

I had a D&C and also have a Mirena. I also recommend the sea sponges. You won't have much bleeding going on during your next cycles. Maybe a dot or two--literally. This is what I experienced after having complications after my 2nd child in August. And had mirena put in at my 6th week checkup.

awesome ladies, i'll check it out. has anyone ever tried the diva cup as well? was thinking of giving that a shot, too. i'm gonna give my doctor a call and see what she thinks about their use for post op.

i can't wait for the lighter periods! i had menorrhagia which is part of the reason i had the D&C, and my periods had gotten SO painful.

Tried the moon cup and vastly prefer sponges, they are more comfortable and easier insertion and removal.

about how long can you keep a sponge in without leaking? i realize this is very subjective, but just curious if i can get an average amount of time.

Wait until your doctor says it's ok. You shouldn't put anything in there until it's no longer susceptible to infection. You had part of your cervix removed, take care of it! I had LEEP a year ago and it totally sucks not being able to work for awhile. The bleeding will get less every day but if you have to work, try bringing multiple black g strings and wearing 2 at a time and then changing them out if you bleed a little.
In my experience, I had a follow-up appointment with my gynecologist 2 weeks after the LEEP, and she said it was healing well and I could start using tampons again. I was surprised that she cleared me after only 2 weeks since I had also been told 4-6 weeks.

^ Do you wear a liner between the two g-strings?
Cause I would consider it very rude for anyone to leave blood around my workplace regardless of the circumstances but particularly if they knew it was a likiliehood.

I feel compelled to say that this is in no way a personal attack as I'm sure none of us would want to come into contact with someone elses secretions.

Lmao I wouldn't recommend someone work without a tampon if they were bleeding like crazy and were gonna get it all over the place! I can only speak from my own personal experience, but by the 2 week mark, the bleeding was reduced to almost nothing, like a couple of drops the entire day.
