    Travel Plastic surgery dilemma

I want to have minor facial surgery & breast augmentation within the next year but I live in a rural part of the States where the closest surgeons are not that good. (I've looked at their galleries.)

I *can* travel to Las Vegas or California to do the surgery, but that will double or triple the cost of the surgeries, plus time off of work.

Any suggestions of great surgeons or ideas on splitting up the procedures? The facial surgery would be a chin implant & the BA would be gummy bear implants, under the muscle.

Usually the surgeons give a better rate on multiple procedures and if you are going to have downtime it would be better to have it all at once - are you close to Vegas or Ca? if not there are good surgeons in other cities that may be closer to you

I'd be very 'selective' trusting a surgeon to do chin implants. Unlike breast implants, very few doctors have much experience with these.

Maybe think about going with 'local' breast implants first ... and using the extra earnings potential they will provide to fund a long distance doctor for the chin implant later ?

Disclaimer: I don't know much about chin implants - my opinion is coming from my experience with a rhinoplasty. In my opinion below, I'm treating all facial surgeries as equally delicate procedures, which they may or may not be.

So now, my opinion. I personally would be wary of getting facial work and a BA done by the same surgeon. Yes, it's true that you'd save money (on anesthesia costs) by combining the surgeries, but due to the delicacy of facial plastic surgery, I'm not sure it would be the best idea. I've heard of girls combining facial surgery with implants and being happy with their results, and I've also heard of girls ending up extremely unhappy with the results (some surgeons are "jacks of all trades, masters of none" when it comes to multiple procedures). This isn't really the kind of thing that you want to take a chance on, ya know? If you end up saving a few thousand dollars and hate the results, then that'll end up costing more money and more emotional stress in the long run: you'll be wishing you'd waited to save up the extra dough so that you could select a better surgeon.

If you were getting a BA and some liposuction, I'd be far less concerned. It's the facial stuff that makes me nervous. I mean, it's on your face. You'll want to be looking for surgeons who are board certified (or even double-board certified) in facial plastic surgery. If you're dead set on getting both procedures done together, then I would prioritize finding a surgeon who specializes in faces as the bulk of his/her work and happens to also do BAs.

It sounds like you know what you want, but I'm assuming that you'd also want the surgeon's recommendation based on their professional assessment of your face and body proportions. A surgeon with lots of experience with faces may recommend a different kind of surgery to achieve the look you want, and would be qualified to make that recommendation. However, if you're absolutely sure that you want a chin implant and aren't really looking for the surgeon's opinion, then perhaps you should find someone who specializes in BAs and would also be able to perform the surgery on your chin.

If you're still in the industry (I think I remember that you're a cam girl, and you don't dance?), then you might want to forego the facial work for now and just get the BA. The savings on not getting the chin implant would probably cover the cost of you traveling to a more respected surgeon for your breast implants.

However, if you do find a surgeon whom you trust to perform both procedures, and the price is right, then I can't discourage you from going for it! It's very possible that even some hack surgeon in your small town could give you results that you love. Not likely, but possible. Plastic surgery is a bit of a gamble. You may do as much research as you can, and you ask as many questions as you can, and select a surgeon with as many board certifications as you can find, and pay extra money for a big-city doc, but at the end of the day, there are no guarantees. I repeat, there are NO guarantees. Any surgeon who 'guarantees' a certain result is either inexperienced or incompetent: you can never predict how your body will react to these invasive procedures, whether you'll be the 1% case that isn't a good match for your surgeon, whether there will be a miscommunication between you and your surgeon, etc. Some girls will pay $10k for these procedures and walk away disappointed, while others will pay $5k and luck out. You just have to make the best decision you can with whatever information you have.

I need to add this info- the main reason I want a chin implant is with age, my cheeks have gotten thinner, my eyes are more "defined" with hollows under them- as a result my formerly "cute" receded chin now makes my face look old.

BUT if I have the chin implant done by an out of state surgeon & there are complications, there will be no $$$ break on revisions- I know surgeons refuse to "touch someone else's work." Chin implants are more likely to have complications due to several factors. So there is the gamble on facial surgery.

As for the breast augmentation....I hate to be a bitch about it but most of the nearby surgeons to me either do bolt-ons or semi-passable looking BAs. If I return to dancing in the future I don't want a wack-looking rack.

The BA can wait a few years but I would get more out of the chin implant now.

Edit to add- I'd be open to finding a Plastic Surgeon in the Twin Cities of Minnesota to do the chin implant....flying to Las Vegas or Ca. is going to add at least $800 in air fare and hotel costs. But I can drive to the Twin Cities.

My bestie had a chin implant by a dr who specializes in facial - he is certified in facial nerves- she has had jaw issues since childhood so she was very cautious in her choice - he charged her 6k around 2006 - sending you a pm of her before and afters

edited to add - that 6k included a lower facelift also

    Thank you for the info.

I will end up taking my sweet time to pick a doc, as I also have to get a couple teeth capped within a year or two, which cuts into any savings for surgery. I'm also part of an a excellent online forum for surgery (Real Self) which is how I found out chin implants have such tendencies for complications...

Update-edit to add....I have discovered my TMJ (jaw) issues are now so bad that I might be able to get my regular medical insurance to pay for some "prep" work that would help with a chin implant. (There is an option for reforming the lower jaw called orthognathic surgery, but it's so radical/risk-filled I'd rather look at other options first.)

I also decided to have my implant screwed into place- I am a bit clumsy so I don't want to ever face having the implant dislodged in a fall or car accident.

Side- note- I'm horrified at the pop up ads I see on PS sites for cheap breast augmentations. I worked with a girl who got a super budget bolt on boob job and one implant bottomed out within 3 years. She got what she paid for...
