    Default Club Etiquette

A little bit of set up before I ask my question. Recently due to a transfer I am in new area. One of the things I do is look for the neighbourhood pub/bar. There happens to be one right behind the residential neighbourhood I have moved into. The bonus is that is actually a Strip Club. From what I have been able gather the neighbourhood was built after the club. The are a number of other commercial establishments on the same street. Grocers, Restaurants, etc, but no other pubs/bars/clubs. I have decided to make this my once a week going out place, since I can walk home from there in less than 5 minutes if I have had one too many to drive. Besides having a bar and dancing area with 3 stages, it also has a full service kitchen, as well as several big screen TVs that show sporting events. The only thing is, is that the building is on the smaller side, so everything is all in the same area. No something I am used to, most strip clubs are large enough to at least have some separation or they are just a just a strip club with no other features.

Up to now I have always walked over to the stage and dropped a few dollars during a set, because the girls are certainly not dancing for free. Sometimes I have been the only one. I do know they pay a fee to dance there. Obviously if I am at the tip rail I will tip. I have also gotten a couple of lap dances while there. The girls do not approach while I am eating, nor do they come up to the end of the bar where the TVs are, unless it is really slow (15 or so customers). I go there on Sundays, and there is usually only one stage being used. So for the question. If I am there just for a few drinks, watch the game, and perhaps a bite to eat, should I also give the dancers tips while they are on stage? Since you can't really not see them as well while doing anything else in the club.

Some clubs discourage dancers from approaching customers when they're dining. (And yes, club managers use the word "dining" to seem classy or something) So make your snacking relatively quick. At certain establishments dancers are told to leave the customer alone when they're eating... that could easily explain why you aren't being approached. Heck, I've worked clubs where I was told to leave customers alone until they recieved their first drink. Once I was even told not to talk to guys until they fininished their first drink. Strip club rules are wacky!

Generally speaking, food complicates matters thanks to the aforementioned rules and because most dancers don't want greasy currency in their garters (I, on the other hand, am less scrupulous... I suppose).

I'd advise you to tip. It's a gesture of appreciation. Grab the girls attention a slip her a some money for her effort. Tip early on or at the end of a set to get it out of the way and enjoy the view/tv/food. Stage sets are almost always mandatory and you've already communicated your awareness that this is our job... you're pretty awesome for that alone... just follow through with your intentions. You've got the right idea, I think.

Can it get a bit pricey? Sure. But the alternative is eating in a chain restaurant or getting take out. You're in a Strip Club for a reason. If you didn't want to see hot ladies getting all sorts of sexy in your peripheral vision, you'd go to TGIFridays or something like that.

You know the drill, they pay to be there. Dropping a few dollars on the rail even when you are not paying attention will do you no harm, and will help pay their fees. Personally I view it[and 8 dollar beers] as the strip club tax. Maybe it will remind some others they might do the same, you never know.
