Post Any idea how to deal with this situation?

Hey everyone. I've posted on here before about working at a studio, and I finally decided to quit which was an amazing feeling. I handled the situation professionally, while they, however, did not. They refused to give me a copy of their contract and threatened to sue if / when they find me on another cam site before one year exactly is up. Now this is a streamate (physical) studio...

When I posted about this before I remember someone saying that some studios will use scare tattica and what not to say keep an 'employee or whatever. So considering that they refuse to let me see the contract I signed, do you think that I'd really be in legal trouble and brought to court if I started working on a completely different site (like livejasmin)? it's just really hard for me in this situation and camming from home is my best option. I have no way to strip at this moment and a vanilla job really isn't doing it for me (I'm trying)

Are you still an independent contractor? Like do you get a 1099 for your taxes from them? I'm thinking they are full of shit, but particularly if you're an independent contractor. You aren't employed BY them, you are free to work for any of their competitors. They don't want you to see the contract because they're full of shit. Otherwise, they would have no problem showing you. Do you have communications from them with those threats and them saying you can't see the contract? If so, save those. Then, tell them to go fuck themselves. They can't do anything to you and this is shady as fuck. Don't let them scare you. You are not a sex slave, they cannot keep you employed there against your will.

I worked for a studio for a period of time and I can almost guarantee you're an independent contractor because of tax issues, etc. Open new accounts and fuck them, they aren't going to sue because they would have to take you to court and unless they have an amazing lawyer who's worked in the porn biz they know they can't win period. Open new accounts and fuck them in the dick.

It is illegal, they have to supply you with a copy of the contract, which should have been done after you signed it.

Unless you signed a specific non-compete which is reserved for people with special talents & knowledge. Like a scientist in that part of the industry, a lawyer in the same area, but only the best of the best have to do that. Camming is NO WHERE near that level.

In some states, like Texas is a right to work, state. Any kind of contract like that is illegal & void within itself.

Now, you can't work on SM for a term of 6 month to 1 year. You can go sign up to all the others & nothing will happen.

Do all communication by email to document all conversations, lies & threats. Then you can take it to your state labor board & don't even need a lawyer.

If they sent you those threats via email or text, screen shot and save them, as has already been suggested.

Email Liz. She'll be able to tell you how long it is until you can sign up at SM independently AND her email will more or less be law in terms of when you're able to start over at SM. Also, if those messages from your old studio were electronic, forward them along to her and ask her opinion/if she happens to have a copy of your contract. I doubt she does, but it's worth a shot.

Sign up for whatever you want that isn't SM and flip those fuckers the bird. They're lying, manipulative assholes.

Lol, they are full of shit. You can work on other sites no problem. Streamate is NOT the only site to make money on. If they are with holding your contract hostage, maybe have a friend falsely sign up to get you a copy of hers. It probably is the same one.
