    Default Question on tipping

Last night down at the club there were a couple of dancers who actually did some pole work. Besides becoming increasingly uncommon, they were actually rather good at it. After their sets as they were coming off the stage I handed them both a couple of 20s as a tip. As a dancer would you rather for something like that, that I get a bunch of ones and throw them up on the stage, or is giving you a tip in larger bills better? Neither one said anything one way or the other, besides graciously accepting the money and stopping by my seat later to thank me. Both unfortunately already had customers they were working prior to their sets, otherwise I would have bought dances from them as well and asked them then.

Woooooooo a guy who appreciates pole work! If I ever get back to dancing you will have to come see me!

Anywho … like you said, good pole work can be hard to come by. A big reason for this is bc fewer & fewer customers actually show any real appreciation for it.

A shower of smaller notes can make a spectacle, & when let loose in front of the right crowd, can encourage others to come tip, resulting in a positive snowball for the dancer. It's also a bitch to collect, & if nobody is paying attention, sm of it can be pocketed by unscrupulous dancers, staff or even customers. Larger notes will make an impression since most stage tippers prefer to drop singles, & 1-2 bigger notes is more discrete & easier to securely stash if the dancer is in a hurry at the end of her set.

I too think it's worth doing a big tip when you see something genuinely new and interesting. But I'd add that if you're putting up a big bill -- it makes it several times better if you can be a little out loud about it. I haven't done it a lot (honestly, most pole dancing seems to be the same 6-7 moves on repeat now), but when I do, I actively pull the bill out smiling where I know other adjacent customers will also see me handing it off. People (and especially guys) tend to fall into a herd mentality and start to tip larger when they see larger tips being handed off around them.

Cool, since I dislike showboating, and the dancer should be the center of attention, not my tip. (And my "making it rain" technique needs some serious practice )

Best way I ever got rain $$$$ was in VIP rather than onstage. He tipped me a couple $10s on mainstage, we went to VIP & he had me get up on the pole in there & let the singles fly. This gave him his 'make it RAAAAAAIIIIIINNN!!!' thrill in privacy & made collecting it much more secure for me, since I didn't have to worry abt any1 else scooping it up when they thought I wasn't looking.

I like to tip a gal doing good pole work or just doing a good stage set.

I will admit that when I tip more than $10 on stage ( I go up to about $30 ), I like to "make it rain" in my small $10-30 way.

I will give future thought to giving a stage tip in $20s if that is what the dancer wants. But it seems that there are pluses both ways.

A little of a "make it rain" tip can definitely attract more tips. But a larger bill tip is much more convenient for the dancer.

Maybe next time I'll just ask the gal what she wants.

Both are great and have their pluses/minuses...
Personally I prefer the shower of 1s because a) it gets attention and other guys then feel stupid for not tipping, hence the snowball Aniela mentioned and b) I can ALWAYS use 1s. I hate having to break a $10 bill so I can tip out the doorman; I make at least 1 vending machine trip each shift, and they do not give change on $5s; and I split my money up meticulously at the end of the night and hate rounding... I want exactly 20% into savings, not approximately, haha.

It depends. Sometimes I prefer you to make it rain so it kind of shows the cheapasses what to do and other times I prefer it if you tip me when I am on the stairs leaving the stage!

There are still a fair amount of customers that do appreciate good pole work. It immediately draws my attention to you, particularly as compared to the dancers who are robotically swaying back and forth with minimal enthusiasm. I may not be tipping twenties or making it rain, but if I see good pole work, I will definitely tip a little more than I normally do and be more inclined to get a dance from the girl who has captured my attention and is working hard on stage to give a great show.

I can understand being fine with a girl who sways back and forth if that's what they do, but good pole work is pretty entertaining, i can't see why customers would not appreciate the extra effort. I guess their loss.

A dancer who can work the pole well , or one that can actually do a good strip tease deserves a good tip, and will always get one from me.

I started clubbing in the mid-90s, which I really think was the tail end of the elaborate stage performance era. There were still a lot of clubs where high flying pole tricks, smoke machines, costumes and other props, laser lights, etc., were all part of the show. The girls were motivated to put forth all of that effort and to take more risks because they still earned good money from stage tips. Back then, LDs were still an evolving service offering in a lot of clubs and did not compete for customer spending the same way that they do today. With LDs being so commonplace now and generally more aggressive than they were back then, they are naturally going to be what many guys prefer to spend their money on. To some guys' ways of thinking, each $20 spent on stage tips, alcohol, etc., is one less LD.

So while I hear what some guys on here are saying about their willingness to tip for elaborate pole tricks, I question whether the time, effort and risks associated with them really pay off anymore for most girls. If girls could earn a lot more money doing them, they you can be damned sure that more of these girls would be.

    Anyway, just my
