I know I can deposit so much into my accounts, which is fine seeing that I do have another income and home based business. I plan to travel in Cali for at 4 days out of each week. What can I do to keep my money safe? Any tips or ideas welcome.

As long as you're claiming your earnings on your taxes, you can deposit as much money as you want. Putting it straight in the bank is really the best idea when traveling, but I suppose the next best thing would be the hotel safe?

fake book safe http://www.thehomesecuritysuperstore...FQ4S7AodLxkAuA

If driving you could use a lock-box bolted to car trunk floor.

^ You'd be pissed if your car got stolen!

I would tuck small amounts into my car. Honestly thought bank with a major national bank & make deposits on the regular. Then the only ones who can steal from you then are the bank itself...lol
ETA- at one time I had accounts with 2 major national banks, to get around the "only deposit XX amount per trip" thing. I also had a safe deposit box at a credit union. Gawd I was ballin big time back then. Anyhow, traveling to do adult work is so full of chances to lose money, it's better to use banks & deal with any issues that arise with them than to stupidly lose much money trying to be like a squirrel. Take it from the girl who sent $800 in cash through the wash in a laundrymat...lol

I always kept my £ in a safe when I was touring and never had problems. Most hotels have a safe in the room and often the safe itself is hidden. I would ask the client if they wanted to shower and then deposit their money in the safe when they were in the bathroom. I had a safe at home as well to store cash.

I wouldn't take an extra room, bc I once had hotel employees use MY ROOM while I was gone at school to fk. They left an empty condom wrapper & remade the bed so I came back & took a nap in freshly stained sheets![]()
they also broke the lock on one of my bags & thiefed off w/ a WW2 family heirloom. So after that, I don't EVER leave valuables/irreplaceables in a hotel room if I am not there to guard them personally.
I have actually popped into this thread a couple times, looked around the room & thought, 'If I was just borrowing this room, where would I hide X?' I had the 'Don't look for an elephant in a pencil drawer' saying cemented in my head from early childhood, so I can think of many creative places to hide shit, but also very creative places to look for it. Thieves want to 'bust in & bust out' so the harder it is to access a (potential) hiding place, the less likely a person will be to either find or explore it, esp if they are crunched for time. I would hide it under furniture or against the side/back panels of drawers.

Take some shitty clothes and attach money between clothes and coathanger clip (if that makes sense), Inside the sole of shoes, under the tv. Seriously though, its safer to deposit it.

Ditto. ^
And sometimes find money in outfits which I've forgotten about.

Protip- keep a Manila or white envelope to stuff cash in- if can be tucked into your bra or underwear if need be. Also once I had to get the front desk clerk to open my safe (the lock jammed) and I had to make sure my hand was holding the safe door b/c there was a huge pile of cash in the safe. (Didn't want her to see it.)
This can be tricky when you are traveling. The hotel safe is a good idea. Also hiding it like others have said. I have hid my money in things like the coffee pot before.
I also have a prepaid debit card that I use. I do have to pay money to load the card but that's pennies in comparison to what I could lose if someone steals. If you can't make it to the bank you can also get money orders and write them out to yourself. Keep the receipts separate from the money order so if it comes up missing you can replace it.
