Default Is blogging really worth it as a camgirl?

I've been thinking about the best way to market myself in the coming new year. I find that marketing takes up so much time and it is so hard to really tell what part of it is paying off. One of the biggest time-suckers seems to be having a blog and after reading this article I've been wondering to myself is blogging even really worth it as a camgirl?

I'd love to hear you opinions on this matter! Is blogging worth it as a camgirl or are you better off just investing your time interacting with social media instead? What will be your main marketing strategy for the coming new year?

Yes. I definitely think it can be worth it. Potential customers have the ability to find you with any keyword that you use in your blog. The advantage you have with a blog that the big box sites don't have is that there are a lot of different keywords and content within a blog, whereas on a camsite there's really not a lot of content. Most affiliates for the big box sites use blogs to drive traffic and earn commission. There are huge advantages.

I was actually thinking about starting a site that was a collection of camgirl blogs. Would anyone be interested? You would have total control and be able to write about anything and use your referral links. You'd have your own login and section. The advantage of this over having an independent blog is that it would rank better because it's updated more and potentially has more keywords. For example, with your own blog you would probably only update a couple times a week. Whereas if there are 5 girls who update their section 2 times a week that's 10 posts in a week instead of 2. The search engines like sites that are updated regularly.

Twitter is what converts best into sales. You can tweet at anytime, post selfies all from your phone. Watching tv, waiting in a long line, at a doctor office. An hour a day & 5 sexy pics which can be all scheduled out by an app can be less than 30 minutes a day.

Where as a blog, it is time consuming & not worth it unless you have it as a part of a paysite. With a blog you have to be funny, witty, a good writer, original take on ideas on a consistent basis. It takes a long time to build up a fan base on one. If you do have a paysite, then it is IMPORTANT!

Tumblr is a good way to blog, do lots of video blogs that you upload onto youtube then add it to tumblr alone with sexy pics, selfies & a regular written blog. Adding it to your twitter acct & pics on Instagram. That way you are hitting 4 major venues to get the most traffic & have them all linked together. It would be a bigger block of time & commitment, but the best pay off all the way around. 30 minutes to an hour dedicated to it each & everyday will pay off big time in traffic & getting sales. That time spent will double your on cam hourly income in a month or so if done right.

Done right means: 5 sexy pics a day, lots of hashtags, 3 to 5 vlogs a week, letting your personality shine through, being consistent, mixing it up between being funny, witty, thoughtful and marketing. If it is all marketing & no interaction, no fun guys will not follow.

    Good Luck,
    Sam

Sam, I have a question for you.

Regarding the Youtube thing but I found that my channel got flagged (even without any nudity on it!) I tried to appeal it twice but still lost.

Is it worth restarting new channels over again? It left such a bitter taste in my mouth the first time that I didn't try again but I don't want to cut off my nose to spite my face when it comes to marketing so if it is worth it I'll give it another go for sure!

Id say it's helped a ton. Look at it as a drug of sorts when it comes to custy's and fans... the ones you HAVE from the cam site can find you ( so branding yourself is important in that way) - they can follow twitter or imgur or tumblr or all the above etc- and by saturating them with more and more content - even idle musings of the moment - they feel more involved and more likely to be a regular longer ( keeping people engaged is always a key rule)

better perk is it triggers the word of mouth- it follows the path of " innovators - early adopters, and onward. its not really any different than the people who throw out youtube videos every week and sit back and make a decent living on ad revenue while their numbers skyrocket. - get your innovators talking- your core first line of fans....eventually their ramblings and praise catches the early adopters which spreads to the early majority - this is where you peak in followers, of which more followers who came to you via social media, have a higher chance of being paying members on cam-

yes there is a chance it may be a small number of say 20 out of 350 new followers on your twitter- but thats still 20 people you may not have otherwise been able to attract without a useful tool like social media

another good perk is the ability to use it to tell people when you are on, get a general feel for what may be trending as far as whats selling best and if you may need to adapt and so on. It's really way more than just a simple way to advertise if you do it right

Not speaking for Sam but yes it is worth it. I can't tell you how many YT accounts I've had over the years. They continue to close them and I continue to open them. Youtube has good traffic and quite a few people have found me through YT.

    Yes, it is worth it.

But YOU have to go CLEAN go PG ... don't make it sexy, don't use it as a sexy trailer, be you. Bitch about the crazy crap you get asked while on cam. Show off new & regular clothes you got for public & errands, show off cooking skills, talk about how you got into camming & why, talk about how each cam site differs when you work on them.

Go watch lots of youtube videos. Daddy batman cracks me the fuck up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEQ2C2-72pI Find a way to be original like him. There is so much inspiration on there. By being original, funny, PG you can monetize it & bring in money from it too.

I already have what I plan to do with my youtube channel planned out. Just not enough time in the day to do all that I want. LOL But it will be all the way mainstream & capitalize on me being a bbw & pornstar just the same.

    Good Luck,
    Sam

Blogging and using fresh content and keywords are gold for search engines like google. Absolutely. If it's time you're afraid of, simply hire a blog writer or write your blogs in droves 1-5 days a month and have them predated to post weekly. This has been a lifesaver for me.

I am on my second youtube channel, the community guidelines have changed for youtube, you have create value creation content. not just i am going to dance in my under and think it will get a lot of views. you can't post those types of videos.

You have to post videos that create value, audience retention and give a call to action.

You need to come up with a plan for youtube just like with any marketing strategy.

I'd love to be part of that. I want to start building my indy persona seriously this year, so a blog was on the list.

I am pretty bad about keeping up with posting on my blog, and I just ended up losing it to go daddy because I forgot to renew it. So I'm going to try to work more on the "mini blogging" like twitter and tumblr. All my cammodels referrals have come from twitter so I think if anything it's really beneficial to use twitter.

Question - does Instagram allow nudes?

LOL Sarah you work to much. Did you not see in the news how Demi Moore daughter walked around topless in NYC because intagram doesn't allow topless or nipples in pics?

A great pic, a super sexy pic without nudity can get more men than nudity does. It is a fun challenge to make yourself live up to that kind of challenge. You want them to pay to see more.

I use my blog as a way to let my customers get to know me. I share the ups and downs of camming with them and also use it as an outlet. It's more of a camgirl diary for me.

^Me too, or three or whatever. I have a new blog that I use to promote my paysite. I list the updates and then write a little commentary about what I thought about in that clip, what turned me on, any kind of background info that might be interesting. I intend to write short erotica and direct them to my paysite for the full story, and to write thoughts on fetishes and kink. Write about personal sex experiences and more taboo fantasies in my paysite blog. I think it's worth it but it is hard to find the time. It's silly because when I want to I can write exceptionally well, I'm just a lazy writer. I agree that blogging and Youtube are worth it. I'm like you, JAC, I got my account closed from YouTube and now I'm mad at them. I had 300,000 views on some of those videos. Gone. They also closed the email account associated with that YT acct, without warning or ability to appeal. So I highly recommend making a new gmail account to go with your new YT account. Thank god my gmail account wasn't one I ever used, I would have been so mad if it was my personal gmail or my work gmail.

haha Oh my, you can't be mad at youtube. They don't want to be a conduit for porn. We can still use them to our advantage, just got to be more PG, to approach it differently. Which is GOOD for you to be more well rounded & have the ability to entertain without the "sexy" in it.

Forces us all to be a bit more imaginative & mainstream, this is a good thing. Come on, fully dressed without the sexy & still pull guys to eventually spend money on you is FANTASTIC sales technique.

    Smooches,

^Sam, I was annoyed because I was fully dressed. In head to toe latex, but fully dressed. Also a video of me in a miniskirt and heels smoking got flagged and removed. I began to think I should put on a burka for Youtube.
Do you watermark your YouTube videos or put links in your profile? I think that might have been the reason my account was removed. It was up for a good number of years, but half my videos would be taken down. I understand they don't want to be a porn site, but I started to feel it was a waste of time when fully dressed videos got removed. I did a little video blogging, and yes that's the only thing I could think of that wouldn't risk getting flagged. I really should give it a go because being fully dressed, down-to-earth-seeming, yet sexy is one of my things.

Dressed in fetish & smoking is porn to many & you know it. LOL No linking or watermarking to adult sites, direct it to your twitter account where you can then get them to the porn or camming stuff you do.

    Sam
you can be sexy but in a coy way. A way that wont get you flagged.

Blogging can be pretty tricky. It's hard to find non-controversial topics.

    For example, makeup.

Guys love to say they don't like makeup. Often they'll be adamant about it. They'll insist they prefer the "all natural" look. However, I have never seen a popular model on the top sites without any makeup on. My conclusion? They want to believe they are looking at girls who naturally wake up with a photoshop perfect face. They want to be lied to. Either that, or they hate bright colored eye shadows (gold, silver, blue, green, etc.). I don't like drawing this conclusion, but even with heavy eyeliner on I have had men insist that I have a perfect "all natural" look going on and they hate girls who wear makeup. They just don't know what makeup is.

There's a lot of iffy topics to avoid. That's just one of many examples.

I think it's best to just post a lot of pictures. If you absolutely have to chatter about something, do it about things pretty much everyone does. Like food. Post about new recipes and stuff. Most gentlemen can appreciate a girl who cooks, and it's pretty non controversial. I cannot think of many topics which are as easy going. Does anyone else have any ideas?

It's not a great idea to only post pics. You should talk about the photo, if you're going to, and provide high quality content, meaning at least a paragraph of unique material, for Google to like you, and it's important to use keywords as much as possible (preferably without being too obvious about it) that pertain to your niches.

Sounds like giving free erotica. I think we've be better off just having a Twitter and interacting with clients and fans.
