    Default need shoe fixing help...

    hi everyone,

you know how when you buy a new pair of dance shoes, the rubber ...sole (i guess) on the bottom of the shoe is nice and thick? well i like to do lots of spins on stage and so they wear quickly and start to peel back or totally off. i'm tired of buying the same damn shoe a million times. does anyone know where i can buy rubber soles to reattach to my shoes? or has anyone ever taken them to shoe repair places for something like this and if you have, how much did it cost?

    thanks

Idk if this is what you're looking for (I'm not sure if they replace the rubber soles but I know they are made for the soles to help with slipping) but I've found these on most shoe shops I order from:

Costs me about 15-25 each time. I'm a very active dancer too Ive never thought of repairing myself but will look into it too. I have about 6 pairs of shoes and I try to rotate through them. Another dancer buys multiple pairs of the same style so that if one shoe wears out she can supplement with the left/right of another pair.

I think it is just one of those necessary costs unless you tone down your stage style; but as Im sure you believe also those stages encourage spending so spend money to make money.

I used to work in a cobbler shop and also have a similar problem. I have a pair of favourite shoes set aside I've been meaning to bring in to ask them if they can replace the inner soles (which need a new lining because I wore these shoes so into the ground it tore) as well as the bottoms which have thinned out like you mentioned, from what I remember new rubber soles were either $20 or $25. It's pretty easy they just rip them off and glue new ones on.

Not me personally but I looked up the brand on Amazon and these are what the reviews have to say about them:

Apparently they are known to fall off, so I'd recommend using something stronger than super glue to put them in place (maybe something like epoxy, E6000, something to that effect) but from what I've read they do have great traction.

thanks so much, ladies. i'll call the shoe repair shop in this case, i think. $20 is much better than paying $60 for a new pair, esp when there's literally nothing else wrong with the shoe! (plus i'm cheap.)
