People capable of sending out negative energy towards those they're angry at can do so. To help make more sense of it: It's like me leaving a dirty diaper in your car-though I would never. It may cause you to swerve, feel disgusted, be grumpy, etc.. You may also just throw it out, start locking your door, and go on with your day. You have to do the spiritual version of that.

i used to dabble in wicca/witchcraft and still do spiritual stuff today. the rule of thumb is that whatever energy you send out via magick/prayer/ etc. returns to you threefold, positive or negative. and i... kinda believe it. if you feel like some negative energy has entered your life just find a way to "cleanse" yourself spiritually--and that is whatever you deem appropriate. some examples of this are going to pray at your favorite church, meditation, or my favorite thing to do is take a bath and imagine myself filled with white light. simple stuff.
i wouldn't worry about it too much, though.![]()

yep, especially if the person being "hexed' believes it. smudge your house, or do something else that makes your space feel "cleansed"

Yeah, spells can be some real shit. Voodoo, Wicca, and most Native American religions reveal alot about spells. I used to think it was bullshit many years ago. But I've had some experiences myself that caused me to change my perception. That is why it is a good idea to only associate yourself with positive, loving people. I believe that people with bad intentions may cast bad spells without them even realizing it. It relates to quantum physics, emotion, and intention.
The trick to undo a bad spell done upon you, I believe, is to reclaim your own power/ positive energy through things like meditation. Smudging with sage, like simone said, helps too.

I personally think that if you put enough malicious intent and energy towards another person, yes things can happen if the person it's directed at also holds the belief that it CAN cause them harm. The mind is a powerful organ that we haven't come to fully understand, and just like the LOA, you can will things into existence/mind over matter. It all depends on what the intent behind the energy being sent out on what the outcome will be. That being said, if you work towards attracting positive energy into your life and doing regular spiritual 'detoxes' so to speak, things like this don't affect you as much. Also, I thoroughly believe that if you don't let things have power over you, they won't. Granted a lot of this I learned from Wicca and Buddhism. (feel free to dismiss this as a tipsy rant lol)

^agree with that... my answer is no, not all, but you will never find a person less spiritual, unwilling to believe in anything backed up by science, hard-core atheist, than me.
I think it's all about the power of suggestion. The mind controls the body and if you believe something strongly enough then you will feel it physically. People do not get better from prayer, they get better from the sense of love/support that comes from knowing people are praying for them, and it gives them strength and determination to stay strong in their illness. The same can be said for people who believe they are ill or that they are doomed to never get married or get into an accident... focus on something enough and it will come true.

I have thought about this subject a lot for many years.
Sadly, my belief is so real about the subject, that I'm sure I've had some spells cast on me by jealous females who have crossed my path.
I would say to wear the 'evil eye' necklace/bracelet.
Prayer helps also, and I have also found a free prayer line that deals with it also.

I believe that the Power Of Belief can make things happen for people- however in some cases the results aren't long-lasting or ideal because for permanent change/gains to happen for someone, they have to invest a lot of real work into something.
I can't say much about Black Magic because some people who believe in demons & evil energy do feel that using those forces can gain a result they wish for....However, I have cultivated my own following of hardcore haters in the past decade and I can tell you, those people's prayers have not been answered.
Also people who suffer from straight up mental illness aren't really that good at using Law Of Attraction because they are not living in reality. Mentally powerful people can bend reality to their liking. Mentally weak people cannot.

If you believe or not, this is a summary of what I have gleaned from my readings in fiction, mythology, and religion......
1. Burn "White Sage", as an incense and distribute the smoke around your living area, or the area you choose to do your cleansing. Native american culture uses bundles of smoking sage to ward off negative energies.
2. Draw yourself a warm bath, and disolve a 1 lb box of Kosher salt in the bath water.
3. Get in the tub, relax, and carry out the following grounding ritual-
a. Close your eyes and envision yourself as a lone tree in a green field.
b. See yourself as the tree sending down deep, strong roots, far into the eath and bonding with the earth.
c. Envision the negative energies and feelings that are in you draining out though those roots and being disapated into the earth.
You are now grounded and purified. relax and enjoy the warm water, but be sure to rinse the salt off when you are done.
I am not a practicing Pagan or Wicken, but 2 of my sisters are.

Sorry, double post.

I also need to add that I have personally witnessed some crazy shit in my 3- plus decades on Earth....however I am in love with the idea of using skepticism to ferret out the truth in any situation, whether it be as mundane as "who ate the last bits of cheese in the fridge" to "where did Grammamma bury her money stuffed mattress, tell me Ouija Board!!!"
Ok true horrible story- I did some black magic to wish harm on someone who ripped me off- I even fantasized about her arm being broken in a beatdown. LO and fucken behold, she broke her arm a couple months later. I am tempted to think she did it on purpose to get pain meds, but it was also likely someone did it to her for the same reasons I was wishing it on her (she worked as burglar sometimes.) I was kind of shocked to hear about it, since I had vividly pictured her with a broken upper arm bone.
Creepy. Moral of the tale- don't rip people off.

Yes, I have extended family members who are heavy into that stuff. Very scary, and we barely socialized with them. My mom once found something one of the members left in our home. She contacted a friend who told her specifically how to get rid of the item. It was hair, teeth, some other things wrapped in foil I think. I know Americans doubt the reality of this stuff, but it does exist. Not the way you've seen in the movies, but there are very devious people out there, whether you believe it or not.
Women of color:
Shake your ass and preserve your heritage.
Bang those fucking drums.
Do it for the present and future generations.
Have fun and stick it to the man at the same time. (bad-dominicana)

I was raised without lasting belief in these things, but my mother, who tried to raise me to be able to perform spells myself, would agree with most of the advice given here. So do those things if you believe, whirlerz.
But if anyone's on the fence yet is mostly secular, keep in mind that if you suspect a person is going to the trouble of casting a spell on you, they wish you HARM. It doesn't always matter if their spells work in their own right. They might also take more physical shortcuts, or even do as little as whispering negative words to people who can hurt you, or manipulating those around you. They may even do so subconsciously. Don't underestimate what people who wish you harm will do to you without realizing it.
So if you're at the point where you're worried about someone casting spells but aren't totally sure you believe, just be on the defense.
BTW, I know for a fact spells have been cast against me more than once. I don't believe. But I can assure you, the two people who cast them also tried their hardest to fuck up whatever aspects of my life they had the power to. And just knowing anyone hated me so much was also a 'psychic' blow.

Everything is vibration. Your thoughts effect your brain chemistry and send out energy to the world around you, if anyone's skeptical, google it. If you are strongly emitting hateful vibrations about someone, they will amplify that. Etc. etc.
I have had guys break up with girlfriends (4 times in the past 2 years) because I kept thinking about the guy being single. It might have something to do with me, but I think I just lined up with that reality (string theory) more so than actually influencing someone with my thoguhts/ spells/ vibrations/ wishes/ affirmations/ whatever the fuck it's all the same.

^ All the above are the types of things I do. I do a seasalt scrub in my shower sometimes (particularly after a tough week). I also get barefoot in nature and feel the power of Mother and absorb her energy. I usually try and say a prayer for the person sending harm because i believe they are suffering inside to be wishing ill on others. If there is an ocean near you and you respond to water then get walking barefoot and prepare for a massive cleansing courtesy of nature.
I guess you could also call a local priestess and ask for a blessing, spell or invocation: If you feel that you need "more" than your own methods.
I'm not a wiccan but I respond to earth magic and rituals, and the best are the self-created ones; An image of a mirror came to mind so I guess a spell/charm I would use might be a small mirror, write the person's name or 'those who wish me ill", I might put a cleansing or purifying herb in it-or a clod of earth, wrap it in a small cloth (probably a black one), and pray/ask to be released from the situation (however you want to say it).... I would leave the bag somewhere connected to earth and nowhere near a doorway or where pets would investigate, then after 7 days open it burn the herb over the mirror and use the ashes to rub off the writing, say an affirmation for healing and release. Thats fairly involved but if you try the above rituals for smudging your house and UncleFuz suggestion I would be amazed if you still felt something hangin over you.

Even though I don't believe, I'll pass on more things my mom taught me just in case it helps.
If Catholic angels hold any meaning to you, do the following. (You don't need to be Catholic at all). Imagine the connection between you and the potential spell caster as a cord. You may be surprised at how large/electric/full of fire/whatever generic 'big' traits it has. Now, imagine Archangel Michael (do a little research and personalize him if he's not quite your knowledge/thing) handing you a sword. When you can vividly imagine taking the sword, now cut the cord between you and the evil-doer spellcaster in your life. Do this meditation as often as it takes.
This can be supplemented with sage or salt rituals to your comfort/need.
I have fewer memories of the following so do this at your own discretion, but you can always meditate on meeting this person in the dreamstate alongside your higher self (if you're comfortable with this concept) at bedtime. Focus on being there with your higher power in order to use good energy against this person to communicate, hey, I'm not an easy target, here's my protection. But best wishes.
Once again, *I don't believe,* but was raised by those who do, and I don't think they're dumb. It''s only what I remember so don't take me too seriously, but these should at least be more strategies at your disposal to check out if you have a hard time.

I am a firm believer in magic. I myself am a solitary witch & have been practicing now since I was 15. I'm more into studying herbal lore. I have done several "love" spells which actually worked but not the way I wanted them to. They ended up being more of an attraction if anything. Most of my spells I've cast over the years have worked for me , which is pretty exciting in itself knowing that there is a much greater force within us that we can invoke & put to use. I love studying about the many various ways of attracting things into your life by using herbs, stones, and mojo bags etc. You can usually find free spells online for those of you that don't want to spend $$ on spell books & whatnot. The internet is full of soo much useful info regarding magic & the different types that are practiced. I find Hoodoo to be my personal fave.
I can honestly say that while I've done all kinds of spells in my time, that I've never cursed/jinxed anyone. I believe in karma & that the negative energy you place upon someone always & will return to sender. One of my fave websites I frequent is www.LuckyMojo.com. It's full of so much useful info & answers for those who are interested in the craft![]()

Wow, this thread has become one of my favorite threads of all time on SW. Thank you whirlerz for starting it! This is a fascinating subject!
Snuffle, I have to respectfully disagree with you here. I don't think mental illness means that a person is mentally weak. I actually think there is spiritual/psychic power in alot of people who are schizophrenic, bipolar, etc. I believe that mental illness is a result of an unbalanced society, not of a weak mind. Here is an intriguing article about how a shaman views people with mental illness as "healers who are in a spiritual crisis": http://earthweareone.com/what-a-sham...ntal-hospital/
I love you all. I just wanted to say that.![]()

Mental illness; a sane response to living in an insane world.

Just some more info on sage, for those who'd like to start smudging:
You can also use sage to purify (smudge) yourself by cupping your hands in the smoke and 'washing' your face and body with it. In my experience, any kind of sage is considered effective. You can even pick and bundle your own sage as long as you offer tobacco to mother earth before and after you pick it. Cedar and Sweetgrass are another two of what we call the "sacred herbs", which are believed to have healing/cleansing properties (the fourth one being tobacco). It's also ideal to have a vessel to burn you sage (or other sacred herb) in. It's usually a natural material; most often I've seen clay bowls and abalone shells, but I've seen marble and lava mortars used, too.
Last but not least, before you smudge anything or anyone else you need to thoroughly smudge yourself first!

I have heard this idea. True story- I worked with a retired NYC city cop who told me he dated a girl who seemed to be able to read his mind....She was on heavy medication for mental issues but was also disturbingly able to tell him things that were very true. Between the head issues and him being creeped out that she'd be able to suss out when he was cheating, he dumped her. (He told me this when he saw my Tarot card deck in my backpack.)
From my experience, my mom suffers from crippling mental illness but also has had moments where she figured out things she really should not have...I can't explain those instances. Mentally ill doesn't mean stupid. It does mean unstable & I caution people to avoid people who are so unstable they may cause irreversible harm to them, or someone close to them. I grew up with a lot of ghetto style values like "don't snitch" and "don't back down from people" but in the case of straight up crazy people, it doesn't make sense to provoke them.

Just a heads up , don't talk about any spells you are planning on doing or have done bc it'll kill the magic so to speak. I guess if it's for a cleansing purpose it's ok but a more private thing like an attraction, love, money spell it's best not to speak of it. Set it & forget it![]()
