Do you have a weight problems?
If you can not sleep at night thats good, but people are not owls, our vision and etc not addapted for a nightbut we have an artificial light, which makes it easier.
why bad?
1)well if you sleep during the day thats mean you do not absorb vit D from sunlight.
2)cortisol
3)during the day more noise than at night, but ofc if you live in the forrest you may not have that kind of problem
4)etc.. you can google more info
but again if you feel better to sleep during the day, thats up to you and this is your choicewe all are different, i cant sleep in the noise and some ppl dont care. If i see a day light outside i will be 0_0 for hours and other ppl dont care.

Maybe you belong in another time zone :-) I think if that is when your body wants to sleep and you have the luxury of doing it, who cares. I polyphasic sleep... sleep 4 hours, get up for 2-3 and then sleep again 3-4/5-6 hours. I am not sure it is good or bad, I don't know, but I cant stop myself from falling asleep or waking. unless I took drugs, but at that point I feel like I am fighting nature and that probably is not good, so I would go with it.
I always had a problem with my weight. You think that those two (weight problems and not being able to sleep at night) are connected somehow?
I googled a lot and I really couldn't find anything that would answer my question. All te articles were from 2006. and I couldn't find anything newer. And the thing is - I sleep long hours, I have to sleep at least 10 hours if I want to feel fully rested. But when I have to get up in the morning (really early) I tend to get more tired quicker. As oppose to getting up somewhere around 2, 3 pm.
I was just hopping to find out if that is really bad for me and my health? And I couldn't find anything about that on the Internet, so I asked here. If that's not a problem for my health - I'll keep on doing what I'm doing, because I feel better when I'm sleeping during the day. Since this job gives me the luxury to work whenever I want and I'm quite anti-social... Everything works for me just fine. I just have to sleep less (about 8 hours tops) and adapt to that, so that I can have more time for myself during the day/night.
Thank you for your reply
You think I belong in another time zone?I never thought of that
I never traveled either (in different time zones). But I prefer being up when all the USA people are up

If you feel fine - I don't think it's bad for you. I just don't know how you do itWhen I fall asleep - I sleep for 10 to 12 hours straight and when I wake up I feel like I've just woken up from a coma and have to have 2 hours just to wake up completely. I was like that all my life. Sometimes it bothers me, because I know some people that can wake up and be all cheery and happy instantly, I'm not that way. But I figured it's all in the genes (my mother, my aunt, my uncle... Everyone in my family is like that).
The media makes us hypochondriacs. We are all different. You can be very healthy with only 4 hours of sleep and the same if you need 10 hours. If you feel energetic, positive and happy most of the time who the fuck has the right to tell you that you have an issue with sleep? Sometimes, I sleep for a couple of hours, wake up and then sleep again much later. I read somewhere about diurnal sleep patterns and that our ancestors slept that way. As for artificial light, I have yet to find a lamp or device that is brighter than an unpolluted, cloudless starry night under a full moon. A cave did not have blackout curtains. And friggin' meteorites have more radiation in them than a power grid so it is pretty obvious that EMF can't be that bad. We all need to realize that we are capable of being healthy regardless of how the media and scientific studies try to scare us into living a life of fear so we continue to buy into consumerism. I am certain that we are capable of much more than we currently believe and that when we finally evolve we will be mentally capable of literally taking matter into our own hands at the atomic, molecular and cellular level.

I have chronic narcolepsy, with excessive daytime sleepiness and irregular REM cycle. I only sleep in deep sleep (REM), so this makes me incredibly groggy no matter how long I sleep or when I wake up. And despite getting 8-12 hours of sleep, I'm tired all day. And I'm formally diagnosed, not by the internet. I have a prescription for medication, but I can manage it with proper eating, exercise, and sleep routine. If I deviate from my routine by taking an unscheduled nap or staying awake later than normal, I'm FUCKED. There is no other way to put it. I end up sleeping for 15-18 hours for day on end, taking 6-8 hour "naps", skipping meals and missing sunlight, etc.
The most important part, whether you have chronic narcolepsy like me, or the itch to stay up all night, is get on a schedule and KEEP it. Do extra content and emails when you wake up the next day. Finish work, do a few minutes of sleepy yoga while sipping sleepy tea, and lay down. The first few nights will be difficult as you fall into a new schedule but once your teach your body that sleepytime is at 2am, it will begin to expect sleepytime at 2am. For me, if I don't seem to be tired at 2am, I take an allergy pill or Nyquil and make myself tired. Another part of my sleep disorder is forcing my body to have an internal clock because it can't seem to maintain it on its own.
I could add more to this but you get my gist. Set a schedule and when its bedtime, use all the tips that these other wonderful ladies listed and get some shut eye.![]()

He's been pretty happy taking gabapentin/neurontin before bed, which isn't so bad for long term side effects.
If it wasn't happening frequently, I'd say pop a klonopin every now and then. It's a slow release benzodiazapine so it's your best bet, but it's still a benzo so those are terrible to take long term.
I'd start with smoking pot, to be honest, for simply falling asleep. Seems to help me when my mind won't turn off.
And obviously, all the holistic stuff is better to start with before drugs, but I'm sure you know that already.
edit: also, do you have ADHD? That could be a huge factor.
