I never get my hair done at a salon. Ever. I've been doing my own hair since I was old enough to shoo my mom away from cutting/ dying it for me.
Today, I spent the morning having my hair permanently straightened. The process took 5 hours at $100/hour = $500, which is typical for the type of straightening I had done. The sylist also did a great job (or it seems that way so far, it's not done setting yet).
I thought it was customary to tip hairdressers 10% so I gave an extra $50 to the stylist. She seemed very appreciative, but now that I'm home, I'm reading that 20% is customary. Considering it was more than half her work day spent, I'm worried I didn't tip enough. What do you normally tip your stylists? Do you tip more or less for longer procedures?
Sorry if this is the wrong forum, I wasn't sure where else to post...
