Default can a filing accountant refuse to file for an adult entertainer?

Hi ill be filing my taxes as a camgirl and hope to get an accountant here soon. Just to make it easier on myself can I just right out say I do online entertainment? or that I do webcam modelling? to the accountant I mean. I know alot of girls say something else like made up like "data entry" or something etc. But I dont want to make something up and end up confusing myself when the account asks me alot of questions. last year the account kept asking specifically what I do for work etc etc and I didnt want to keep making up crap.

I only ask this question because I am wondering if an accountant can turn you down working for you if your in this kind of buisness if you say you work in the adult industry (Ive heard something like that in a forum awhile back)

    thanks!

I would suppose they probably can, but I seriously doubt they would. Even if they did, you probably don't want to be hiring them anyway so just find another. I don't think you will have an issue though.

Have you considered doing your own taxes? It's quite easy especially if you don't have a lot of deductions or special circumstances.

unless it is a personal moral issue I doubt it - I know they can turn you down if they think you are providing false documents / records - the IRS now holds them responsible if something is blatantly false and they sign off on it - they now issue tax prepare-rs an id number

I guess an accountant could turn you down but I can't really see them getting too uptight about it. When I first got the accountant I am working with now he was a little nervous because he had never worked with a camgirl before. He didn't want to work for me at first because he thought my income would be like a dancer's where you are dealing with money cash-in-hand but became totally on board with the idea after he realized that I would have a paper based trail for everything.

I personally wouldn't want to do my own taxes as a camgirl since I find the whole thing confusing because there are so many questions that can go one way or another (Am I self-employed or a consultant? Exactly what can I write off for my business that doesn't fall under the 'housewife rule') but of course everyone is different.

I guess each accountant can decide if they want a new client. There is some discrimination towards sex industry workers--and if one accountant has a problem with it--I'm sure another won't.
I've had the same accountant forever--he is great. I am seriously not good when it comes to accounting--almost failed the remedial accounting in college, except my professor knew I was trying, and I did all the homework. I tried all semester--could not get my books to balance. I passed with a C--so I need an accountant.
Just try to get one--there are businesses that offer tax services during this time--if you are turned down, keep trying. You will find an accountant that will not discriminate.
You are working, and you make an income--most accountants just see the income and don't sweat how the money comes in as long as it is not illegal.
You can also file yourself--I don't think it is difficult--I'm just not great at bookkeeping and accounting--I like having a professional do my taxes--he always gets me some kind of refund.
there is accounting and bookkeeping software available--if you should decide to do yourself--you can set yourself up for quarterly payments--since cammodels owe money on their earnings. I don't think it would be hard, just I'm so bad at accounting I leave it to a pro.

If you don't want to be discriminated against by your tax professional, go with a tax professional who is known in the adult industry that works for adult entertainers. Here are their links: Tax Domme and Companion Tax. I have heard good things about both tax professionals over the years. I hope this helps.

    Who gives a shit.
If you can't be honest then you might not get the deductions you need.

If they are, guess what, there is another right down the street happy for your biz.

Don't be ashamed of earning a legal income. The U.S. gov doesn't give a shit, they just want their share.

Never hired an accountant to be lectured about my job. YOU pay them, YOU are the boss in this situation, act like it, own it. Guess what male accountants watch porn too Not like they have a single moral leg to stand on... not when there is a dick between their legs.

Come on, it is fun to go in there with your adult store receipts and ask.

"Well, I bought all these sex toys, 90 percent of the time I use them for work then then 10 percent of the time for me time. How much of that can I use as a deduction?" LMAO

I know, I am totally twisted. Love seeing the look on their face, when I do that.

I have yet to find a male accountant or doctor that hasn't seen my porn or been in my cam room. Hell, most of the time, by the end of the appointment they admit to being a client on SM or have every scene of me from Bangbros on their home computer.

Of course they can refuse! If they don't want to work with you, they'll probably tell you they aren't familiar with the field and advise you to find someone with experience.....which is what you want anyway. You should be able to tell them exactly what you do so they can help you find deductions and research related tax regulations better. If your accountant thinks you do some other type of home based work, he won't know that you can deduct sex toys and camming equipment like lighting. Besides, if you try to tell the government you need heels and lingerie for "data entry" you run the risk of being audited. At the very least it's a huge waste of time and you'll have to pay the accountant through the whole thing!
