I was interested until I googled the weather there. 5k doesn't seem worth it if you have to be stuck someplace that's negative thirty degrees. That's ninety degrees colder than my town and I'm already chilly!
I wonder, how much food cost there and do they have variation in food? Or maybe fruits only apples and oranges, veggies potato and onion hahah. And cost half of the money you earn there, lol. In places like that prices always very very very high.

i'd think they just eat fast food tbh. they said they don't leave the building
the cost can't be that bad since she said she's been going there for 8 years so it would have to be worth it
i mean i would def never go, way too cold but it seemed quite interesting to read, esp after the alaska kodak island thread lol
How curious that the article doesn't say how much she actually has to work to make that $5k. For a week-long contract, I'm guessing 5-6 long shifts, especially since it's the only bar in town and they don't bring in too many girls at once. That's not to say it's not a healthy amount of money, but I think it's also attainable in many areas if you put in the time -- and you wouldn't have to be stuck in the same building the entire time to boot!
I'd also like to know more about the agency's cut -- who pays for the door-to-door transportation? Food? Accommodation? It's totally possible the club covers it, but if not, those costs can really add up in a northern community.
If anyone is curious, since the article doesn't mention it, the club is called Le Fer-thèque and there's not much about it online, other than a couple of other articles/blog posts that don't give too much concrete information.
^ This article says they stay for a week and average $3,500 a day! (I feel like a spambot typing that...):

Seems a bit incredible somehow. Although, if all the numbers are presumed to be accurate, then you can bet there are some heavy fees for working there.
^lol right. If all the dancers are averaging $3,500/day, how come the one in the Vice article is only making $5k for her entire trip? I feel you can never presume the numbers strippers give journalists are accurate, especially when they sound too good to be true, but maybe that's just me. I'd believe $5k/week and once in a blue moon someone making $3.5k in one shift, but certainly not on average amongst all the dancers.
I am the stripper responsible for this article. I will answer all your questions tomorrow as I'm off to bed now x

Yes! Please do.Inquiring minds want to know.
I cannot believe they can't walk through the lobby..

What else are you going to do all day? I've worked at some remote clubs, and have been pretty happy to work 10-11 hour shifts as I had nothing else to occupy my time. You can only watch tv/ surf the internet for so many hours a day before you just need to do something else.

I sort-of lived this reality working in North Dakota. I need to point out the high cost of living eats into the huge money. IMO it's worth it in short doses but maybe not something you'd like too much for years and years.
