Default what do you do as a dancer?

I am kind of scared of becoming a dancer because I don't really know much about what dance they do? Do you have to have a certain physique? I'm in vegas. And also you have to know how to twerk because I got no idea how to do that. I really am clueless as to what you do but I'm 21 so I could go and see but I'm out of money right now which is why I'm considering it because don't you guys get tips? And I need fast money. I have tried restaurants and it never works out because I lack experience my job is terrible and I am tired of them giving me 14 hours a week if I work every day nonstop. There is a high demand for dancers here I always see adds out for them. But only dance I've fone was ballet and forgot it I don't have stage freight as long I know what I'm doing but I seriously don't know what I'm doing. What is pole dancing like and how quick does it take to learn it?

I would suggest looking through the Newbie Board. These questions have been asked several times in the last few weeks alone. Read through all the stickies at the top of the section.

There really isn't much to it, but I don't want to give you my own advice since I'm not in Vegas (Vegas is it's own special kind of place...)

You're in Vegas which means it's gonna cost you a good chunk of change to start dancing in the first place... Sheriff's card plus business license aren't cheap.

Newbie Board & Hustle Hut ALL of these questions are covered extensively, & repeatedly. Name the question, it's been answered half a dozen different ways. There are many helpful threads in just the first five pages of HH, & tonnes more the farther back you dig into that forum. The rest is just a matter of learning from experience what will (or won't) work best based on your personality, your clientele, & your club.

The search function is your friend. Works kinda like Google, that little bar up in the top right-hand corner of the page, except it's SW-specific. There is an Instructional Video Thread stickied at the very top of the Stripping General forum where you posted this thread.

You've had your account here for a year now, have you not been reading anything on here at all to help get yourself started? Hope you're not expecting to be spoon-fed everything working in Vegas clubs like you apparently do here, or you're going to have a very hard time.

When I started dancing I had never danced in my life and had zero rhythm. And it showed. I started in a similarly competitive area, I just worked in dives and learned how to dance/hustle there. Now I work in bigger clubs and while I don't think of myself as a great dancer, I get compliments and stage tips and I can give a decent lap dance. You figure it out. You develop your own style. Some girls are amazing at twerking. Others are great at pole work. Some girls aren't great dancers, but are hot enough that nobody notices or cares. You're lucky to have stripperweb as a resource... There's tons of great info here. At the same time, you can read every single thread, but if you've never danced you don't know how it'll work for you. If this is something you're committed to, get yourself moving. Get your paperwork in order for Vegas and then hit up some dives. You'll look like a newbie and make hustle mistakes until you don't.

PS: I have two friends who danced ballet when they were younger and now they're both amazing dancers and make tons of stage tips. I think some of that dance skill translates.

I considered it last year but left shortly after I think I said a while ago that I found a job elsewhere. Plus I was underage. I didn't feel I had much of an opportunity. Plus like I said I felt I had other options but now I'm kind of pressed against a wall.

All the cards I've had to get were under 100. I Have a job that gives me like a couple hundred.

^ I think last time I checked the Vegas sticky in Club Chat, it was $200 for the business license and I think another $40 for the sheriffs card... plus clothes and shoes if you don't have anything suitable. I'm not sure what would fly in Vegas as far as actual stripper attire vs. civilian heels and outfits.

Personally I don't think dancing is something to be entered into lightly. It's not as easy as it seems and is basically a new world. Maybe I sound old and jaded but I do see numerous new girls come in and leave crying after a few shifts with <$100 because it's really not simple and can be very hard on the ego.

If you are sure you want to do this, do as Aniela said and read Hustle Hut and Club Chat. Tons of info.

Unfortunately I've forgotten most of my skills in ballet. Tbh. It's no real use to me.

I have about 300 if I get 14 hours for the last week of January thing is I need to pay that week that day.

Also I have a feeling if I know what I'm doing I'll do alright. At first I don't plan to make 100 bucks in a day I don't really need to I just need to make something 40 would be fine by me. I only make 15 a day currently if I'm lucky. So 40 would be pretty good.

No job is as OJT, hands-on as stripping or other adult work IMO. You have a great resource here on SW but your biggest teacher will be experience. & considering the bs that you will encounter in this job, $100/day your first couple days is the LEAST you should be shooting for.

Earning potential will vary & is influenced these external factors:

    A) the clientele (blue collar vs white collar; 'fast food'-blue collar vs 'oil $$$'-blue collar)
    B) club fees (shift fee, house's cut of dances/VIP, who & how much are you req'd to tip out)
    C) club culture (does the club make customers move away from the stage if they aren't tipping? Are there set drink/dance minimums? Is mgmt more likely to side w/ dancer or customer on a payment dispute? Also, is the place actually a strip club or is it essentially a thinly-veiled brothel?)

Then there is your hustle skill, which is not going to be perfected in your first wk. That's just how it is. It's a matter of confidence & mindset as well as practical experience, so start by doing smtg abt that 'Content w/ $40/day' attitude or don't even bother, bc you're worth more than that. Stop worrying abt 'if you know what you're doing' or 'if you get lucky' -- get sm popcorn going, read thru the forums here, take notes, & get your ass in to audition & start making $$$.

I have a low standard since I need like 100 dollars and don't know how to get it by next week. I only need 100-200 by next week and a regular job would for a pay until two weeks from now end of the month basically. Just found out my aunt isn't giving me any money so I need to make money in about a week's time. I figure if I were undressed in front of men I would make more than most women considering I have the looks men tend to like it's just how I'd react but I really don't even know if I should consider this because of the card issue. I'll still apply to this place nearby they can just say no i have nothing to lose. Tm I'm going to apply to a whole bunch of places and see what happens. I could get a job but next Monday I'll still be out of a place to go by probably Wednesday or Thursday if I'm lucky.

I don't really care if it's prostitution I heard this one club basically does anything there I want to apply anyhow because I wouldn't really care either way. I'd be a prostitute if I could I just am too scared of the danger of it. Otherwise I wouldn't mind in that situation. At this point I'm really willing to do anything and that wouldn't kill me.

If you're going to strip, even for a short time, you should make the most of it. If you've gotten anything useful out of reading these boards, you should see why strippers command the prices we do. Depending on vanilla jobs alone apparently hasn't gone well for you. You're apparently in a major bind right now -- think beyond that bind & consider setting a high-enough financial goal to create a cushion for yourself to get you thru future tight spots, not merely until you can land a new vanilla job + paycheque.

Didn't you say you're in/near Vegas? If you're that cool w/ prostitution (& no judgment here if you are) then take that to one of the licenced, legal brothels. One of the things real dancers DON'T do is hook ITC. You'll be much safer in more ways than one if you take it to a brothel instead of turning tricks in a SC.

I would actually stick to this position. As long as it payed over 50 a day. Like I said the two jobs I've been offered were both seasonal interviewers.

I could live off 50 and probably save money as well. I would definitely stay.

Prostitution is illegal in Las Vegas and Reno.

Thats why so many girls who prostitute on the streets instead of a brothel

Think about what? I can't really think about anything besides being homeless next week. If I stay out until Tuesday afternoon I might be good until Thursday then I'm shit out of luck until Sunday or Monday.

there are places to work legally in a brothel in Nevada - that would solve your place to live issue also - post in other work and try to get up to date info on a few places - and please dont attempt to escort on your own - it has its own set of issues and not to be mean or condescending but I dont think you have enough street/sex work knowledge as this point to safely work independently --- I have never personally worked in a brothel so I could only share second hand info - other work has threads about them so you could search here
