    Default Vacation Destinations

Every day I step out into this cold weather, I keep saying I need to get away to somewhere warm!! I'm definitely not a cold weather person, I can't believe some people out there actually like freezing weather lol But everyone is different!

What are some places some of you have visited recently? I'm thinking of maybe going to Dominican Republic or the Bahamas.

You may want to consider Puerto Rico, it's warm this time of year and has some nice beaches.

I second that. I went to Puerto Rico with my friend for her Birthday the week of New year's eve. It was very nice and Pretty beaches.

St. Martin, either the French or Dutch side. European prices though. BF and I rented a yacht on the Dutch side for a week over Christmas and loved every minute of it.

Puerto Rico is on my list too now, I've heard great things! Thanks for the suggestion.

Ooo St. Martin sounds amazing too! I have to look into that more. Thanks!

Thailand can be nice, but don't go alone. It is a developing country, and many things you take for granted here, just aren't done the same way there. Read up on Thailand if you decide to go, and not just the glowing travel brochures.

If you go to Puerto Rico, check out the bioluminescent bay water. Omg. Avatar water. ♡♡♡♡♡ I went to the one in Fajardo, on a boat. Kayaking I hear gets tiring and you can't enjoy the water. You can't swing in it but you can touch it. The stars in the sky in that area look huge!

I think you can swim in the one in Vieques. I haven't been.

I want to go back to Fajardo. I stayed at the old "Conquistador" hotel which was really nice. The beach near it is really nice too.

OOOH that's where we are looking at living for a couple years... did you ever feel unsafe or anything? I saw quite a few people on travel boards saying theft and carjacking was a big problem, especially to Americans.

Im one of those. nothing I hate more than tropic or desert climates ( I lived in new mexico majority of my life before migrating much further northwest ) - I physically just cant take it and become violently ill and massive clusters of migraines. My ideal spots are high altitude and moderate to cold " but sub arctic" like conditions. So idealy youd find me looking to go more to Scandinavian nations, or say Nepal and so on- Ive been too many places in the world to know what my body can and can't take.

That said: there is even closer not as costly trips, hit southern California- spend some time hitting knotsberry farm, disneyland etc, be a kid again for abit or visit the southwest - which Id say is neat to visit, but glad I dont live there anymore.

    Iceland
    New zealand
    Hungary

or for somewhere fun, relaxing, with different beaches and delicious food:
    indonesia
Philippines (not as delicious food here really though haha)
    Thailand
    Vietnam

The SO and I have been meaning to go to Iceland for a while. We keep hearing great things about the hot springs, northern lights, the lagoons, and general sightseeing. The only thing I'm concerned about is communication, since it's a bitch of a language and not everyone speaks English there like you'd encounter in European countries. Plane tickets there are also wicked expensive.

Seriously, just google "Iceland scenery" and be blown away.

I'd also like to go to France during the January designer sales. But you have to go with a huge chunk of change and be ready to spend it for the trip to be worth it, so that's off the table for a while.

I enjoyed france- as long as I was away from paris, paris was horrid as far as attitude went and ( like most big cities) way way way over priced, once you get outside the area cost plummets and the people are amazingly sweet .

My besty lives in far northern Norway and the photos she takes are just mind blowing, and is trying to urge me up there.

You can swim in the one that's in Guanica, but that area tends to be infected with Jellyfish and Portuguese Man O' Wars, so proceed with caution. I also suggest visiting the west coast: much better looking than the east coast of the island.

If you want warm - got to Bahamas; 77 degrees and 30 minutes off the coast of FL. Amazing beaches.

Doesn't the Bahamas have Atlantis resort? That gets my vote. Or Puerto Rico or Mexico. I loved Puerto Vallarta, west Mexico. Its about a hour north of Cabo.
