    Lightbulb Supernatural question

    https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q...+shadow+people
This is a link to experiences people have had with shadow people while under the effects of extremely high doses of diphenhydramine, which is known to cause terrifying, realistic hallucinations. Before dismissing it, consider the countless accounts of mediums/those close to death seeing them. I've always been curious as to how much can be attributed to the drug and how much may be real. I'm still a bit undecided. Your thoughts? (Besides that I should just masturbate and go to sleep instead of making posts like this lol).Especially interested in hearing from those who've seen spirits, orbs, had sleep paralysis, etc..

I used to live in a haunted building. Haunted with a few different things (IDK what you would call them)

Sometimes it would look like you could see a shadow man on the security cameras, that could have been an illusion - maybe.

Other people had problems of a male spirit saying stuff like "run". Again not conclusive evidence....

But one night a glass was thrown at a wall close to my friend while she was alone. I heard it smash and went to look, the glass had been smashed against a wall and at an angle that was 100% not possible for a human without being caught on camera. My friend was also in view of a camera during the incident. I looked at the footage and no one else was in the area at the time, and the camera showed that she didn't do it either.
The camera didn't catch whatever did it, as the actual wall space it smashed was a blindspot corner (but the areas surrounding it were not, so no human could do it without detection)

Hard to explain without a floor plan, but anyway there's an example of 'paranormal activity' that was not hallucinated.

Peyote has been used in my culture for as long as we can remember as a conduit to the spirit world. It is believed that we were once able to tap into the spirit world without having to alter our state of mind, but over time we forgot how. <---For me, this explains mediums and clairvoyants. Maybe these people somehow retained the knowledge that we all once had?

The stories that my mom and the other elders have shared about their "mass hallucintions" while on peyote just blow my mind. Some of these stories are so dark that it makes me uncomfortable.

I just had an experience with 'orbs'.. I was checking out a place to rent, and it was so ugly that I pulled out my mobile phone and videotaped the room, to show my friends how hideous it was... When I played it back, I saw hundreds of 'orbs' floating around. of course my fiends saw them too.
I rented a haunted house once, but the energy was sooo sad, and depressing, that I moved out a month later.. luckily a long rain storm came, and the roof leaked, so I was able to break my lease.
I have always been sensitive to things that are 'other worldly', and I have been astral traveling since I was a child. I hate it, but I can't seem to control it.
I also had an experience this past summer, where I was housesitting/pet sitting for a friend of mine---They had just moved in, but it was def. haunted... with research I found out that the previous owner died in the house, so it was prob. him that made lights go on and off, creaks around the house, etc. Even the dog was acting strange-barking for no reason, and spinning around in circles for a long time...

I recently saw orbs FLYING past my dogs head when I was taking a snapchat of him in my room. My apartment is right near a very large cemetery, so I can only imagine what type of energy there is over here. From what I understand orbs are low level? They kind of are just bouncing aimlessly or am I wrong? I also catch my dog staring at nothing sometimes - and seeing the orbs on snapchat I'm sure he senses something. I cleanse with nag champa and sage.

My half-brother was a hardcore drug addict in addition to having mental problems & he constantly saw "shadow people." It became a household joke.

I think there are detectable anomalies in the Universe- my theory on people seeing apparitions & having premonitions is- Time exists on different planes & sometimes people get a "peek" at something they really shouldn't have. Also some injuries to the brain can cause this ability too..(imo.)

In short, sometimes people are just experiencing hallucinations. And sometimes they are not.

I had to google shadow people because I hadn't heard of that before. Thanks! I never wanted to sleep again, anyway.

I've never seen anything supernatural, but I did have a very creepy experience once. I went to a strip club, and a dancer stared at me! Terrifying! No, just kidding. I spent the night in a hotel that made me feel extremely uneasy and spooked the whole night. It wasn't the nicest hotel, but there wasn't anything I could put my finger on that was definitively creepy -- I just had that feeling you get from a suspenseful movie moment, where the hair on the back of your neck is raised. All night!

I had arrived after dark, so I hadn't noticed any of the hotel's surroundings. As it turned out, there was a funeral home next door.

Anyway, in retrospect I'm actually a little surprised that I haven't seen shadow people before. I hallucinate soooo easily. Seriously, a joint will give me visions, but they're more of the "everything is a kaleidoscope" variety. Also, when I'm sleep-deprived, I see shadow-things in my peripheral vision, but none of it has ever made me feel spooked.

I just looked it up too. Weird. I just find it odd that ppl have seen the same type of shadow. It does make you question it, but they're so many different answers. Who knows really...

I was that really smart 14 year old who took 16 capsules of diphenhydramine to trip, and I take ambien daily. I also experience sleep paralysis all the time (it's the worst).

I didn't have a bad experience on diphenhydramine actually, but I did see people I knew who couldn't have been in my house. If I realized they weren't real, they'd turn into shadow people. When I had a low tolerance to ambien, I'd also feel the presence of people who weren't there, which is a common side effect. Sometimes I'd see spectral white female figures in the corners of my eyes, which I guess are the opposite of shadow people. Sometimes I still hear women singing after I take it, but when I try to find the source it moves away. Anyway, it was always very pleasant.

The sleep paralysis is extremely unpleasant. Once a month or so for the past couple years I've woken up paralyzed, and then I see the 'old hag' (one of the more common sleep paralysis tropes). She'll be in the upper left corner of my vision, then she'll tell me she's my mom, and as soon as I think 'Ummm no?' she screams in something that sounds like a language I've never heard and rushes into my body, at which point I tend to have a panic attack and pass out. I only get panic attacks when this happens, too -- it's the scariest thing I've experienced. If I'm lucky I come to normally, if not I'll still be paralyzed. I've noticed a correlation between the paralysis and lucid dreaming, FWIW.

As far as it being supernatural, I'd never thought of it that way before. I think the reason why so many people see the same thing both on these drugs and in sleep paralysis is due to shared archetypes in our subconscious. After all, probably human forms are the most salient thing to us -- if you're hallucinating, it's not surprising that your mind would go there. But I could be wrong, who knows.

The only time I've been spooked while not under the influence of dissociatives or sleep paralysis was doing laundry in my ex's basement. He claimed it was haunted which could have primed me, but the longer I was down there, the more shadows I'd see in the corners of my eyes. My theory? Old house, carbon monoxide leak.

Maybe my theories are wrong, but these things better not be supernatural, and I can never believe they are for my mental health at this rate! But seriously, I don't think it's the the most likely explanation.

I think seeing into the supernatural world would be a more common and socially stable form of awareness if we did not live in a hyper masculine society that refuses to accept intuition as a healty emotional and cognitive state of mind. All drug use aside, seeing orbs, auras and supernatural beings may be a healty mind's way of interpreting realities. String theory suggest infinity when it comes to how matter can be perceived in different dimensions. While cultural anthropologist have a more progressive view on why the brain produces these symbolical psychosis on and off drugs; mondern psychology may be doing more harm than good when diagnosing a condition as all in one's head.

Peyote is a more comfortable short cut, but one can achieve this sensation through extreme behaviors such as sleep deprivation, extreme dehydration or starvation. Also, sensory deprivation chambers can induce visions after only a few minutes.

It's interesting that peyote ceremonies ritualistically include some of those elements(abstaining from sleep, fasting, and heavy sweat-lodging). ...No wonder they have intense stories!

I used to see them when I was on Ambien. I took a normal dosage of it, but it would happen if I didnt fall asleep like you're supposed to. Seeing shadow people was very non threatening, and not scary. It sounds weird but sometimes I actually felt comforted by it. Usually there would be 2-4, although I remember a specific time when I was traveling through New Orleans and had 8 in my hotel room.
I have very little knowledge on supernatural things, and even though I know people can hallucinate on Ambien, I know it wasn't a hallucination.

I really Lol'd. That thread is hilarious.

When I was about 4 years old we rented a house in a new city after moving away from LA. I saw what I thnk you guys are referring to as "shadow people" but he had glowing red eyes. I know at least my sister saw him to and she's a few years older so maybe its not trauma.
The trauma i refer to is that shortly before leaving LA our home was robbed while we were in it. My parents were gone and our live in nanny ushered all of us into a room and make us be quiet and pretend to sleep while the robbers spent a long time emptying our home of valuables. I don't like to think about it or try to remember it but I do wonder if that real life experience caused me to imagine things in our new home when we moved away.

Other experiences I have had is dreaming heavily with people who have passed away or even god. Someone who I cared about very much committed suicide and I felt we had some closure through a dream in which he visited me. It was a sad and strange time.

I think the 'shadow people' is a perfect description for what I saw/felt in that haunted house I mentioned that I rented.. It was a large house, shaped like an L, and had this long hallway connecting the rooms--ever time I would step from the kitchen, into that hallway, I felt like I had to say "Excuse me", because the hallway was filled with lots of those shadow people.. They weren't happy==they were maleficent, for sure.
I don't know what happened in that house, or on the ground it sat on, but I was sooo sad being there (alone I might add).
I would wake up, go into the kitchen to make coffee, and slump over the kitchen sink, and just cry, and shout out loud="I want to go home!". I'm usually a happy person, but I always felt so weepy and unhappy in that house.
The first night I moved in I actually called the cops to come over, because I heard rustling in one of the rooms, and thought someone had broken in.. Of course, even when the cops searched the entire property, and grounds, they didn't find anything, and reassured me that it was a very safe neighborhood. it was kinda funny that when the cops looked at my id., and saw my former address, they commented how they get called to THAT location for disturbances, more than my new neighborhood! (That was why I chose to move into a house, vs. the 'slum' my apt; complex had become.
My computer would go on and off, randomly, and garbled words would come out of it... etc.
It had a beautiful private fenced in yard, with a pool, and a Jacuzzi, and that part of the property was very peaceful, and had light energy.
But that house... something very bad must have happened there.

I always have crazy dreams when I take benedryl, well usually.. Something traumatic happens to me and I try to wake up and think I'm awake like 4 times in a row but Im not. I think Im moving but Im not and it replays over and over again until like the 4th time then Im finally awake, I can only tell I'm awake cuz I move without it being so hard. Last night I had a dream Me and my bf were in the car with someone else and someone pulled up beside us and started shooting up the car, I thought I woke up but I didn't. Another several times Id try n wake up but there was like this Being that was literally holding my head down as if to say "your not getting up" n I couldn't wake up no matter how hard I tried, in the dream I even poked my eyes so hard to wake me up but it didn't hurt like it really would in real life so it didn't work. My bf says it is demons that try and take your soul while u sleep. IDK tho, its creepy. Also, I notice in different houses this is worse then others like if something bad has happened in that house before the demons stay but if it hasn't, I sleep just fine.

My grandpa grew up in an extremely rural area of the Ozarks, and he's told me about an area of his property that he calls Goldilocks Lane (it's just a footpath in the woods) and he always told me not to go there after dark because he's seen shadowy things with glowing red eyes there! I have no idea if he was just messing with me or not. But that's effing spooky! I'll have to ask him the next time I see him.

On another note, I'm always surprised that there's not more spookiness at my house (but don't get me wrong, I'm grateful not to have to deal with anything scary). It was built 100 years ago, and I'm pretty sure someone died on the property at least once. There's a wall in my back yard that's riddled with dozens of bullet holes in one spot, like someone was shot to death.

    OK Julia, here it is....

I've actually been meaning to post this since the 1st day, but my work schedule has been heavy, and due to it's length I wouldn't even consider trying to post this from my phone.

    Here goes...

The house my family lives in was previously owned by my wifes paternal grandparents. As far as we know, no one ever died in the house or anything, but the hall bathroom has the door reversed to open into the hall, because the owner prior to the grandparents was in a wheelchair. I think he went to a nursing home. After my wifes grandmother died, her grandfather whose mind was failing, moved in with my wifes parents, and we moved into the house.

Anyway, about 7 years ago, I was in the garage making some parts for one of my projects(I'm a gearhead, mechanic, shade-tree engineer, and am always making or fixing things. I have a small machine shop in my garage). It was late at night, after 2 a.m. at least. The lathe I was using makes a fair amount of noise, and i kept thinking I heard my wife call from the other end of the house. I would stop what I was doing and go to our room to find her fast asleep. I even woke her up once to make sure she hadn't called for me. This kept going on for about an hour, until I finally just decided that the grandmother was wanting me to go to bed, so I shut the machine down, and called it a night. Just as I got into our bed room, I heard a loud thump, and my wife called my name. She had gone to get get up for a trip to the bathroom, tangled in the sheets and fell into the floor, breaking her ankle. Had I kept working I may not have heard her voice over the noise of my tools in the shop.

    Now about the grandmother.....

We have had several people tell us, our daughter, my sister, at least 2 friends of our daughter, and a friend of my wife's, that while sleeping in the front room where my wife's grandmother slept, they woke to a little old lady tucking the covers in around them. Our daughter grew so used to it that she rarely even spoke of it after the 1st several times. None of them reported any fear, just the sensation of being tucked in by an elderly figure. One of the adults, swears that there wasn't even a blanket on the bed, but they woke up under a blanket the next morning.

When we moved in, there was a clock hanging over the kitchen sink. The clock had been brought from Michigan by my wife's grandmother. This clock never kept accurate time, so we bought a nice quartz movement battery clock to put in it's place. That clock would not keep time either. I think we gave up after the 3rd clock, and just hung a decorative plate in it's place.

I frequently see movements out of the corner of my eye, but can see nothing when looking directly at an area where I saw movement.

I love the peyote talk in here. I would love to try it! Have you tried peyote, MyButter?

I've had supernatural experiences too. I will have to post more on that later. But right now all I can think about is peyote....

Several of my uncles have reported paranormal-type experiences, or at least experiences that tend to defy 'normal' explanation. The one that's probably best known to me is from one who is a retired DC/MD policeman. He has also written a couple books dealing w/ the paranormal, both his own experiences growing up & other ppl's experiences in relation to the infamous Wishing Rock in central MD. The following quotes are apparently verbatim what he heard spoken during this encounter.

He got a call late one nite for an alarm being triggered at a residence in Upper Marlboro, MD. Arriving at the scene, he found a large plantation style home w/ a light on in one of the ground-floor rooms, & a long front walkway lined on both sides by 8'+ tall boxwood hedges. The home dates to the mid 1600s & has remained in the original family, up to the present time, & is still standing. So he parked at the street-end of this walkway & walked up to the porch to check the alarm, & on the porch was a young woman in what he describes as an antique-looking, floor-length dressing gown. By the time he reached the porch, the alarm had stopped, & the woman explained that she 'had not lived there for quite sm time, & had accidentally disturbed the alarm'. They chatted for a minute, & while she didn't say anything particularly 'off' her accent was noticeably 'different' & her speech pattern was somewhat archaic. She then invited him inside for 'tea & biscuits' -- who says 'biscuits' anymore this side of the pond?? -- 'as a token for his trouble in coming all the way out here at this hour' (this is like 1-2am) but he declined & started back to his cruiser. He says he nvr heard or saw her move at all, & nvr heard the door open to let herself back into the house. Abt halfway down he realised that he had forgotten to record the serial number of the alarm, & turned around to go back to the house -- only to find it darkened, empty-looking, & the path blocked by a large spiderweb stretched across the walkway between the boxwood hedges.

Soon after this incident, he found sm time to research the property. The woman he spoke to had introduced herself w/ her first + family name & he did find a family member by that name ... in records from 200+yrs ago. He didn't find the name repeated among present-day family members. This was almost 40yrs ago, & to this day he has refused to go by that house again.

Here's a long post of shadow people for ya I'm not sure what has happened in my parents house, they swear nobody has died in there, only one owner prior, but I (and others) have seen several things. The house has kind of a bleak energy a lot of the time, and my parents have continually awful luck; I have always wondered if having it blessed is a good idea.

In my childhood bedroom, I've woken up a few times to see a tall shadow figure in the crack of the door; don't know how, but I knew it was a woman and her head was shrouded. Never felt threatened, she just appeared to be watching. Another time, I woke up to see what looked like a sarcophagus in the doorway; that time, I was terrified and ran through it to get out, and the spot was ice cold. Porcelain doll eyes also glowed unnaturally in there, which a friend witnessed. Oddly, if there was a room in the house that feels the safest, it's that one.

The office/bedroom I used when I moved back in at 19, was where my dad's mother lived until she died (not in the house though). I do not sleep well in there, because a shadow woman appears and if she isn't totally visible, I can still feel the presence of something. I had friends over for a party when I was young, and while a few of us were in another room, the ones in the office screamed bloody murder; all of them had seen her. I had not suggested to them anything about ghosts either. My cousin, who had a serious drinking problem at the time, stayed with us in that room for several months and was also creeped out. He said he would leave and come back to find the pillows off the bed, stacked on the floor. Another time, he woke up to find his blanket levitating above him. Again, I hadn't said a thing to him about haunted house stuff.

My dad says he fell asleep once on the couch and woke up to see a little squat man dressed like a farmer standing in the hallway. Idk what that was about.

The creepiest thing to me however, is the stovepipe to the fireplace. It's black, and you'd have to take a towel and chemicals to it to change that, but it started developing areas where the black had been wiped away like someone had fingerpainted, and it took the form of the shrouded woman I saw. I HATED that thing and would not turn my back on it. Finally it broke and we had to get a new one; my parents were like "Aha, no more haunted stovepipe talk". The new one lasted maybe a week before a handprint appeared; then what looks like a pair of menacing eyes formed next to it. It's still there and I hate that one even more, and am very uncomfortable in that room after dark.

"You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave."

The female barracks in NAS Pensacola are haunted, so as the NAS lighthouse.

I've seen tons of supernatural beings including shadow people and black-eyed children. But I treat all the supernatural events that I have seen quite nonchalantly because it I like showing no fear and accept them. However, I remember seeing three shadow people in my ex-roommate's room one time. I just closed the door and went to take a bath . The shadow people and black-eyed children saw me as well but they never did anything to me I just accept them as beings of the invisible world and go about my business.

Example of somethings that I've saw:
