    Default Rhinoplasty for ethnic nose?

I've always wanted a rhinolasty but ended up getting my BA first because I figured it would help me make more money than a rhino... I had some complications with my first BA size, got a re-do and sweared I would never get another elective surgery again. Now I am considering getting a rhino again...

I read it's a much more complicated procedure than a breast augmentation so choosing the right facial expert surgeon is very important... I am also worried because it seems like patients who got their nose done often have to go through more than one surgery before they're satisfied unlike a BA (patients often want bigger but usually the result is satisfying after the first surgery...).

I would really like to hear about succesful rhinoplasties you might have had or people you know might have gone through... I have an asian nose, I want a smaller nose and to look more "white" (please don't judge...) so I guess that's already more complicated than simply removing a bump... I am putting more thought into this surgery than my previous BA, if I don't like my new nose... There isn't really any way to hide it or reverse the result...

Ouch. What's wrong with Asian noses? Why do you wish to look more white? I'm not judging, I'm just curious. I don't understand this favoritism towards "white" features.

Be PROUD of your ethnicity girl!

But if plastic surgery makes you happy, well, go for it. That is all I can say to remain neutral.

Probably has something to do with the fact that my mom called me ugly my whole life ever since I was a child and always made fun of me because of my nose :/ She would also make fun of me and nickname me "pig" in front of her friends or relatives and constantly talk about how big my nose look, how I'm not as beautiful as other children. So I've always been self-conscious about my nose, trying to contour and highlight with make up to give the illusion of a smaller nose, ect ...

I also think an asian nose look "cute" but I think a pointier nose would look "sexier" on me...

Ugh I'm exactly the same boat. I wanted a rhino but went with BA for work, now I was a redo for my BA. It'll be years before I get to the rhino.

I would say to do some research into plastic surgeons who do the kind of work you're looking for. I don't agree with it and think it's sad but it's definitely a huge trend to become 'whiter'-- lots of Asians doing their eyes to look more Caucasian, for example, so I think there are probably some plastic surgeons who specialize in that. Honestly though, how many Jewish girls get their noses done? I have a friend who is Jewish and he dad is a PS and the whole family has had rhinos, so it's not like this is out of realm of what's happening.

I would just ask for photos, read reviews online, only go with something who is a facial plastic surgeon and has years and years of experience doing rhinos, not someone who mostly does BAs and the occasional rhinoplasty. Ask questions and do your consults. Most facial plastic surgeons have computer programs where they can show you what your nose would look like afterwards.

I'm not sure what you want from this thread. A story about girl who really wanted to look more white, then spent her money wisely and became more white?

Ugh. I'm a white person who tans, bleaches her hair, and will probably get a BA soon. I have no high ground to stand on, but. . .

^if it's what she wants, it's what she wants. It's not our place to judge, especially as Caucasians-- the media image of what is 'beautiful' and 'sexy' is a white blonde girl. It's not her fault that's what's being programmed.

I hope that in 50 years with enough cross-race births there will no such as 'white' 'black' 'oriental' whatever... I personally think that Asian women are gorgeous, when it comes to body types I feel like they win the lottery as they are naturally slim and petite, how many fat Asian women do you see?

I know you didn't mean anything bad but that rubbed me the wrong way. There's nothing wrong with having different races. I wouldn't there to be just one and we all look the same

Anyway op in my opinion I think unless you're fixing a bump I don't think non white ppl should really get nose jobs
Idk I've seen it irl and it looked weird
But if you are set on this I would 10000% go to someone who specialises in ethnic or even Asian nose jobs in particular

Not really, I am not looking for a story of a girl who wanted to look more white and succeded in looking more white. In fact, I know of a girl who did just that. She's Asian but went through multiple surgeries to look more white, dying her hair blonde, multiple skin treatment for lighter skin, almost not exposing herself to the sun and always using very high SPF whenever she goes out. She even changed her whole name and now lies about her ethnic origins saying she's half white and Japanese when she really isn't. This is not what I am aiming for and the story is not of any help for me, since she never got her nose done, she's always had a small nose.

I don't want any more surgeries besides a rhinoplasty. I am happy with my eyes and lips, I am not interested in getting a surgery for double eyelids or whatsoever. The only thing I don't like is my nose. I love my other features, my eyes and my lips, I don't dye my hair, but I love the look of caucasian nose.

I wouldn't have even mentionned the part about having an asian nose and wanting a nose that looks more "white" to avoid unecessary arguments but just like newb2 said, I've seen pictures of rhinoplasties some asian women had and it looks very unnatural. The reason I mentionned rhinoplasty for "ethnic nose" is because it is a different and more complex surgery than caucasian rhinoplasties (most pictures I saw, there wasn't much change, it was usually simply removing a small bump...) and the result always looked great. I want to change the shape and size of my nose but also have a natural look. I wanted to know if anyone has had such a procedure or know anybody who did and had satisfying results. I probably wouldn't get the answers I need if I simply asked about rhinoplasty in general because a lot of the answers wouldn't apply to me.

It's difficult just looking at pictures on websites because surgeons only put examples of their best work... There is not really any reknowned facial surgeon expert in my area so I will probably have to travel to get it done. I really did not know about the computer programs you mentionned audrey, that's fantastic! I saw your pictures in one thread, I think you look great and did not really see anything wrong with your nose

^The website that I used was Real Self. They have tons and tons of PSs on there and people just write reviews of their surgeries, post pictures, etc. You can get an idea of doctors you might want to contact and if there is someone you're thinking about going with, you can check them out to see if they have any negative reviews, or get a better idea of some of their work, not just the ones they loved enough to put in their book. I would just google to death anyone you're thinking of using because some girl somewhere has probably gone to them and blogged about it online. The internet is great.

I definitely think it's worth traveling for rhinoplasty since it's such a tricky procedure. I was planning to get mine done over xmas and asked Charlie a lot of questions about it, she had some good information. The 3-D imaging program is supposed to be really common with PSs now so that's something I would expect your surgeon to have. I think the nose is so much but obviously the shape is sooo important it's probably difficult to get it exactly how the patient wants it, which is why people go back and have re-dos.

And thank you! I have a small bump on my nose and the tip is bit bulgy so I just wanted it smaller. I'd love to get it done soon but I think it's going to be my gift to myself when I finish graduation school at this point...

I definitely understand being somewhat uncomfortable because your nose seems very "different." I'm half Lebanese and I have a very large typical Arab nose, but otherwise I look white. It leads to some bizarre comments (especially in the club) that I'd definitely rather not deal with. The only reason I haven't gotten a rhinoplasty is because I think I have a pretty face otherwise, and I'm worried about messing with the harmony of it.

As far as your rhinoplasty, you need to do what you're comfortable with. I say get one if you'd like and you think it'll improve your look. For what it's worth, I've seen great nose jobs and awful ones, and I think partially the reason it's such a complicated art is is harder generally to pick a nose that'll look good on your face. The girl who has the best nose job I've ever seen originally got turned down by her doctor because he didn't think the nose she wanted would look good on her face... He worked with her to pick another nose and it's amazing. I think you just need to pick a great doctor and pick a realistic expectation that will work with your face. Good luck!
