Default Does your club issue 1099's?

There's some legal stuff going on here in Oregon and I was wondering if anyone gets a 1099 from their club and what that 1099 represents (wages or commissions or tips etc)?

I was also wondering, for those who do get 1099's do you use your real name or do you have a business name (DBA- doing business as/ or ABN- assumed business name)?

    Here's an explanation of what a 1099 is: https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tool.../INF14810.html

My club does not as far as I know, but from what I've read it represents what the club pays out to you.. like if a customer runs his card for a VIP room and the club has to pay you the cash out. I would guess that if he tipped you on the card that it also would go on the 1099 since the club would have to pay that to you.

^ What if the club takes that tip & doesn't give it to you? Would we still have to claim that even though the club took it?

No and I'm thanking my lucky stars they don't.

I still pay taxes and whatnot I just don't want xxx strip club on my record

If they did I would use the DBA just to give an extra layer of privacy.

How tips & whatnot are divided, what goes to whom should be stated in your contract. Is none of that covered in yours? It may not be listed in a logical manner but it should be there. If you've got any doubts I would get a copy of the contract (if you don't have it already) & take this concern to whoever does your taxes.

You should be able to either get a receipt or at least make a note of pay outs to the club's employees. As in: Income- $1000, Bouncer tip out $25, DJ Tip out $25, Valet Tip Out, $10, House mom tip out $10, House fees $30. Net income $900. You just break it down for your accountant. I makes notes on my smart phone, but a pocket calendar would work ok, too.

What’s the legal stuff going on here in Oregon? The only thing I’ve heard of is the lawsuit Casa Diablo is facing.

I’ve never personally received a 1099 from a club but it was explained to me that the total amount on the 1099 SHOULD be equal to what you received in total cash from transactions ran on customer’s cards that year.

arielbriel did your club allow those with businesses to use business/dba name or were you required to use your legal name?

The only way a club would be able to issue a 1099 is if they have your ss number. With out it the IRS would have no way of knowing who you are because your ss number is your tax identification.

    For example:

I have worked in a dive that just wanted a photocopy of my driver’s license. They can’t issue a 1099.

I have worked at clubs that required a liquor license from the state. In that case the club may have accesses to my ss number.

When applied for a cam site I had to provide my ss number and I have to assume the cam site may report my income.

In any case I always pay my taxes.

the club wants your Info so they can make sure you are of legal age to work and maybe check for felony records. If they issue 1099 then they need either social security number or a tax id number. Since we are independent contractors we should have the option to supply one or the other. I foolishly gave my social but any club in the future gets the tax id number.
