Thumbs down Trying to work in a club that allows smoking as a non-smoker

My club was shut down Thursday for health code violations (mice, yeck) and the owner is doing next to nothing to rectify the problem and get it back opened up. The ONLY other option that has any money potential is a private club that allows smoking. I worked there last night and by 10PM the smoke was so thick it created a dense fog. By midnight I was throwing up from it. I came home and continued to get sick hourly until about 5AM.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I might possibly be able to acclimate my body to this? I would have the option of working day shift consistently, which SHOULD be less smokey. But I wasn't sure if there was any medicine I could take to help protect my stomach from the dang poison it's not accustomed to.

One of my biggest bitches abt this job is the smoking. I don't smoke either & sm times between the smoking & the fog machine it gets so damn thick you can't even see the girls onstage. Plus it gets all up in my stuff to the point I just want to leave my bag out on the porch when I get home & gotta wash my hair twice! I have gotten sick from it myself, tho just to the point of completely losing my voice, no vomiting from it (except for one unfortunate occasion in a poorly-ventilated VIP room w/ two guys & cigars). Could just be an adjustment thing, but if it keeps happening I would go sm where else. No amt of $$$ is worth your health.

I have this problem although not as severely. I get sinus infections. I personally bring in lemon and honey and sometimes a sinus soothing tea with my mug. We have hot water in the DR.
I'll ask my boyfriend he's a nurse and I'll update.
How strange that as a smoker you're unaffected basically but once I quit BAM, I start getting sick from second hand smoke

Well, cause you let your lungs 'detox' get healthy, & now you put them back in filth..sorry you're dealing w/this. Sounds like they don't have any machines that would @ least filter it somewhat. I would agree that you just have to find another club. I didn't have this in a club, but I lived w/2 very heavy smokers (who had lots of smokers visiting) & it was hell. I was coughing hacking every day.
If you get that sick from it, seriously, it's better to leave. Good luick.
