Default Not Entirely Sure What Happened

So I went to a club in my area, asked a man behind the counter at the bar if I can speak to the manger. He tells me that he is the manager, and I tell him I'm interested in dancing at that club. He takes me to an office and asks me how old I am? If I danced in the city? He mentioned that a slot was open for this Saturday and the shifts usually start at 12.Then he goes out to do something comes back and says to call someone and see if I can come in today and to bring ID's. Fast forward to today. I call the club this morning ask for the person I was told to speak with. I told him about seeing the manager yesterday and that I was calling to see if there were any slots open for today, he said he doesn't "do bookings over the phone" and to come in and see him. I go to the club and ask a bartender for him. When I spoke with him I mentioned speaking with the manager and that he spoke with me earlier today. He was sort of confused, and said he didn't know who I talked to yesterday. He asked me when I wanted to work. I told him whenever, and he said that they were fully booked and to call back in two weeks, and to say that mention that I spoke with him before. Is this just a round about way of rejecting me. Why would I be told to come back only to be told to call back in two weeks? The club is in Ottawa btw. I'm so confused and a little annoyed that I wasted time bringing my stuff with me today. Sorry if some of this doesn't make sense.

I've been told "we have too many girls right now" by a club, then auditioned 4 months later and was told the same thing. They were definitely not interested in me.

I went to a different club right before Christmas and they told me to "come back in 2 weeks" (after the new year) because they knew business was slowing down and girls were gonna disappear. (Note: I came back, and they let me start on the spot.)

Maybe they want you to wait 2 weeks for tax returns/business to pick up a bit? I know the 3 clubs I've tried this past month there's always been a few girls who didn't even make house fee. I think it's worth a shot to come back and try again.

Are there any other clubs in your/that area? Try one of them in the meantime. Maybe you'll find somewhere you like better that won't make you jump through hoops to get hired.

Thanks, there are a few more clubs in the area. I will just try out at another one and see what happens.

I had a similar thing happen. Clubs generally slow down on hiring at certain point in the year and for some reason they can't just say that lol. They make excuses or they're unclear and it makes you think they just don't want you. Definitely go back in 2 weeks if you can't find anywhere else.

Even clubs with strict scheduling will make room if they really want you. If you really want to work at this club, try again mid month as a lot of dancers work the last week and first week of every month since that's when everyone's bills are due. Mid month the schedule has more holes in it, and management is more likely to take you on.

They want to keep their options open. This is like a customer telling a dancer "maybe later" when she asks for dances. You can pretty much assume that they want to go with someone else, but if those girls aren't available, you are on the list of potential dancers.
