Default I can't walk in my dancer shoes!

I finally got a pair of white Pleasers with ankle straps. Idk how many inches they are, but the store didn't have any shorter. Anyway, they fit perfectly but I am SO wobbly and i keep rolling my ankle when I try to walk. Is this normal for a first time heels wearer? The highest I've ever worn was like 2 1/2 but I need to get used to these. Any tips??

LOL very true. Practice as much as you can. On stairs (be careful!!) and on different types of floors.

The first time I wore 7 inch Pleasers, I had to stay near walls and furniture to support myself. It's nornal to have to adjust to it. Your center of gravity and equilibrium are completely different.

And yeah, Flickdreams is right, you'll be able to run in them before you know it!

When I first started I couldn't deal with the ankle strap for some reason (but prefer them now, feels like more support somehow). I got a pair of heels that had the slip on style plastic things. Kind of like this style:

I found those pretty helpful since in case my ankle rolled, I could try and slip out of the shoe instead of having the ankle strap bring me down with the shoe!

Do squats in your shoes and practice in them first! If at all possible try some pole tricks at home or in a studio before trying those new shoes on stage. Otherwise, perhaps try doing some exercises in them and walking around the house. For me, doing squats and practicing bending over in my shoes really helped the most.

Practice makes perfect! But Pleasers run incredibly true to size, and if your white ankle strap shoes are the ones I've got they are on the taller end. If you can afford it, maybe get on Amazon.com and order a pair of lower Pleasers in the same size. They're pretty cheap, and it might be easier to learn on shorter shoes.

Seriously, these shoes are LIFESAVERS for newbies: http://snaz75.com/el-656-march.html

This is the most immediately wearable stripper shoe I have ever worn. Take my word for it. They may not be the absolute sexiest pair in the world, but when it comes to being able to walk confidently immediately in a strip club, these shoes are a saving grace.

I remember getting my first pair of stripper heels - they were a sexy 7" pair of ellies - and feeling like I would never be able to strip just because I couldn't handle the heels. Then I got the pair I linked above and was seriously like "THANKYOUJEEBUS!" Not only will you be able to walk in them, you'll be able to actually dance in them without grabbing onto the pole for support constantly.

I have decent balance (11 years of ballet when I was younger + yoga in adult life), and I still don't understand how so many ladies in this industry can twirl around in 8" spike heels. I'm 5'7" and 140 lbs (all muscle - very athletic body type), and even after dancing for four years straight, I still couldn't handle the spikier types of platforms. I mean, I could wear some more 'advanced' shoes, but not confidently, and I couldn't dance the way I wanted to dance in them.

Are there any shoes with a lower rise? Meaning the foot isn't angled down to the floor so much as common styles?

No :/ unfortunately I went back to the shop today to see if I could exchange a pair, And they said all sales are final so I'm stuck with these. My problem is because the heel is so slim, it's hard to keep my weight over them. I Literally wear my Nike running shoes everywhere so this is a huge step up lol

^ I meant online! I want a pair too Get some foot cushions for starters Trena. You can always buy lower heels online but they are harder to dance in IMO. Are you American?

The shoe I linked to has a very gradual angle, which is why it's so easy to dance in!

OP - will you be working in a club that might allow you to wear sexy civilian shoes until you can afford to buy a different pair of stripper heels? Do you have a sexy pair of boots or heels you could wear until then?

I think they let you wear regular heels, but I've been wearing these a lot and think I'm getting better with them

Just adding my two cents: Ellies ar nice shoes, but I've got narrow feet and have to get a full size down. They might be good for wider feet. Feel more comfortable in pleasers, they fit more like a glove and can get them in my size.

PS-If your club has a no boots policy or they just don't go with your outfit, you can always just wear leg warmers that go all the way down. I seriously don't know how you guys can walk in such high, extra thin stilettos. Camming is one thing, but walking around the club, downstairs, esp. if drinking, I was so scared to break something. Also, tighter is always better. First club I worked at didn't allow boots. Despite being the grimiest(literally, grime on walls) dive I've ever set my foot in. The smallest sizes stores carried were sevens and I wear fives. It was terrifying. Also, boots won't give you the lines on your feet that strappy shoes do. Finally, don't let the girls at your club give you any shit about having "starter" shoes. You're there to make money, not balance in the highest shoe.

Yes. Exactly. Get the shoes that give you the confidence you need to walk your ass into a club and secure a job. Spending time practicing at home, tottering all over the house trying to improve your balance, is usually a waste of time. You'll work on your balance every time you show up for a shift, and over the years, you can 'graduate' to wearing stilts if that's your jam. It's far too easy to use this kind of stuff as an excuse to procrastinate on auditioning!
