Default Has PayPal Changed their guidelines?

I have a page on Southern-Charms and I noticed that they have a big notice up on their main page that they are now accepting paypal for subscriptions to our sites. Has PayPal changed their stance on adult content?

Looks like a yes, but only through Epoch:

"Epoch made an exclusive deal with PayPal to accept adult site membership transactions.
The way I understand how it works is that everyone that wants to accept PayPal transactions for adult site memberships has to do it trough Epoch."

From the thread it's in testing with certain countries like Eroupe, and hopefully will be rolling out to the US soon???

I read further into the thread, lolz.

OMG ITS A REAL THING. REALLY PAYPAL. REALLY. ITS HAPPENING.

We are pleased to inform you that Epoch has added PayPal as our newest payment type. We are launching a pilot program with PayPal to our European-based merchants and their European customers. This represents a major enhancement to our industry-leading processing platform, which already offers merchants the ability to accept more than 35 international payment types and process in 59 different currencies.

By adding a PayPal option, you will significantly increase your sales from people and places that do not favor traditional payment cards. You will also enjoy a distinct advantage in an industry that is rapidly diversifying to serve the mobile market, as PayPal is a mobile-friendly option.

We are honored to have been selected by PayPal for this pilot program, and are proud to offer this payment type to our clients. We agree with PayPal's approach to begin by offering this pilot exclusively in Europe. We look forward to continuing to work with PayPal and leading the industry in delivering quality payment options to our clients.

This pilot program is now being rolled out to our European merchants that accept our full suite of payment options. Integration is completely automatic and seamless, with PayPal transactions falling under the category of Additional Alternative Payments in our agreements.

We appreciate being your payment solution of choice. Feel free to contact your account representative if you have any questions.

WE NEED USA AVAILABLE ON THIS SHIT NOW.

    PAYPAL. USA. LOOK!

So real talk TL ; DR the GFY post:

Paypal is accepted by Epoch. Paypal is not allowed through Paypal directly, only through 3rd party = Epoch.

BUT SRSLY THIS IS STILL SO EXCITING.

This is old news from what I understand. I wouldn't get hopes up about the USA though, they have entirely different market regulations concerning credit card companies. By American rules, CC companies can gauge "high-risk" billers for as much as they want to charge, while in Europe the difference is capped at a reasonable rate.

I see just their side starts at 15% processing fee. That's before any website (or you) takes their cut.

They just recently rolled out PP for USA: https://epoch.com/paypal/

I wouldn't mind the processing fee at all. Even if it was whittled to 60% my cut I'll take it. PayPal = more users = more $.

You can argue, sticking to your guns and yes you get sales not using giftcards/PP (directly) - but if given the option majority of buyer's will use Paypal first before going the CC route. I know I do.

It's trusted (for the buyer), well known, easy and good for the lazy lol (don't have to go digging into your purse for your CC), privacy (not having to give a site your CC info), easy for mobile users, etc etc.

This is an awesome thing IMO.

If they'd expand this and roll out to CCBill...and bring back eBay, even better.

If you have a pay site YES, for individual & independent cam shows? NO

Paypal got it's start in ADULT then they turned their backs on us. I remember when they courted escorts to take paypal, try that as a payment & see what happens.

When paypal went out of adult as a payment processor they didn't pay companies what they owed them, nope. They just kept the money. KNOW your history girls.

Celebrate all you want, but they are STILL EVIL!

I remember what they did, and yes they definitely could yank it all out from under the rug again.

But if they took the time to set it up through Epoch, they couldn't have gone into it blindly. They fully went into it, "Yes, we're partnering with a 3rd party that handles mainly adult billing." They still don't and won't take it directly through PP.com. So, I feel like it would be unlikely they'd turn around and say, "Just kidding!" on a whim like before, not when they've taken the time to approve and set this up.

But maybe they've wised up about closing up shop on adult? Going through Epoch as a "backdoor" still saves Paypal's family / prudish religious-positive image on the front, being they won't take adult directly. And Epoch handles the brunt of it. I think this is great if it goes and stays in this direction and they take their heads out of their asses, so we just need to see what happens.

PP is testing the waters with this. It's also only for membership websites. If they find you using it to pay for indy cam shows, selling your adult clothing, etc they will shut your account down. I think they stopped allowing adult transactions because of all the fraud. I personally wouldnt use PP for anything adult because they make it easy for chargebacks.

Here's one answer for you to the original question.

Today I inquired with their customer service regarding using their "Mass Payout" program for affiliate payments.

The only response I got was them "Permanently Limiting" my personal account that I've never used for camming...basically banning me from PayPal. This decision apparently "Cannot be appealed."

    They're still complete morons.

If they ban my hubby's account also then we may need that, as his retail business lives on PayPal.

Yup, they banned mine bcoz of my hubby's account. At least change ip and adress just to be on a save side.
If you did not put your ssn you still can re- open an account just change your adress, bank and ip. Paypal may suspend your hubby's account just bcoz you in one household.

Yes and no. I also think its wrong how many performers in adult use PP knowing full well the rules of PP. I see them crying how their accounts were shut down on Twitter for violating the rules. If PP doesn't want to be used for adult purposes, that's their right. There are other processors people can use. I'm more annoyed that people abuse the system and then play victim when busted for it.

I also think they stopped being adult friendly due to a lot of fraud. They had a lot of chargebacks back in the day.

I spoke with a CSR that works for paypal and was told they do but only for certain adult content transactions.Porn is a no-go though, so it would depend on the type of content.I have a friend who is an Independent Private Dancer and she has a website and takes Paypal Payments online, still has her account. But beforehand she had spoke with a PP CSA and the rep did ask her to send them a link to her site so they could decide whether or not it was ok for her to use their service.
